    Apologia, Jeff and James ect have helped me greatly with so many things. Since leaving the IFB KJVO church, it's been hard. Called a heretic, confused ect. But coming to understand all these great biblical truths have been a great blessing, putting my face to ground in sight of my God whom has redeemed my wretched soul.
    Thank you gentlemen and all those who help make these truths known!

    What would be awesome Dr White is a book on this . I have enjoyed this series and think what you shared would be a book . I really enjoyed The Forgotten Trinity. I think a book on the Lord’s Super could fill a similar niche . A reminder of some of the important basics of our Christian Faith.
    Blessings

    Possible to get a video guide of how this Lord's Supper should be celebrated? Perhaps a broadcast of such a service?

      You’d trust Dr. White’s interpretation on the Lord’s Supper opposed to the 2,000 year old Church established by Jesus Christ?

    I’m wondering if the lords supper from this point of view is saying that it is a means of our salvation? Like is it necessary for salvation? Or is it by grace and faith alone of his death and resurrection and this is a spiritual partaking in that celebration?

    • @TomPlantagenet
      @TomPlantagenet 11 месяцев назад

      It is by grace through faith. I believe this perspective is one of spiritual strengthening but not a means of salvation

    When you come together as an assembly of believers remembering the Lord, how would you incorporate: let each one give a hymn, a prayer, a teaching, a reading of scripture?

      Check out the Plymouth Brethren movement. It is still alive and well today all over the world, and they have a unique practice of having a one hour “open forum” for any man to request a hymn, pray, or share from a passage of Scripture. It is a quite unique and, I find, refreshing practice from the the modern church style. Additionally, this service always concludes with prayer and the breaking of bread (i.e. communion). The focus of the entire hour is always intended to be the atonement.
      Edit: This service is also a weekly service, so communion is always taken in conjunction with Sunday school and a sermon.

    The Hebrew word for 'unleavened' also means 'unfermented'. The NT writers were Hebrew Christians and were pointing out spiritually that Christ 'our passover' makes us 'unleavened/unfermented' in our hearts. Thus, the unleavened bread and unfermented wine is symbolic of 'sincerity and truth' (compare 1Cor.5:7,8 with Prov.4:17). Keep this in mind, 'Therefore let us keep the feast (#1858 in Strong's), not with old leaven...' Jesus says, 'My flesh is meat indeed, and My blood is drink indeed' (Jn.6:55,56). By faith we partake of His 'divine nature', taking all our nourishment and life from Him (Rom.11:17).

    It's there a within and a without teaching in scripture regarding fellowship and remembering the Lord?

    I think the reformers went too far in the other direction to get away from popish idolatry and superstition. Saint Paul tells us however that we are communing with the body and blood of Jesus in the supper.

    Is the tincture water diluted wine? I've heard the early church viewed the water and wine mixture had a symbolic view, and wine only was considered barbaric.

    • @ameliacoburn4787
      @ameliacoburn4787 2 года назад

      Yeah some traditional churches are sticklers on mixing. I think it's silly since it probably wasn't originally and since nothing is mentioned in Scripture it can't have been important.

    I think one of the numerous difficulties with creedal statements like the Baptist Confession is that they say 'too much'. They attempt to explicate on matters of faith far past the point of the ancient creeds and typically do so with a level of specificity that draws heavily on a specific post-reformation protestant tradition. Surely, the doctrines of the Incarnation, or the Holy Trinity are 'repugnant to common sense', yet believed in all faith traditions that are even remotely 'Christian'. One of the key attributes shared by both Protestants and Roman Catholics (ironically) is the drive to carefully explain away every conceivable nuance of Christian faith with carefully constructed doctrines.
    One might argue that it is 'repugnant to common sense' to believe that God became man so that he might demand that humans eat a bit of bread and drink a thimble of wine for the sole purpose that we might remember Him like children at primary school requiring a cute object lesson. Is it not prudent to consider that there might exist the possibility that Christ freely offers us HIMSELF? Is it possible that Christ HIMSELF provides us with genuine spiritual life, salvation and healing? The early Church Fathers had an understanding of the 'Lord's Supper' that is not at all in keeping with the doctrine espoused by Dr. White. The Holy Fathers did not attempt to explain it away in naturalist, post-enlightenment terms, but they all believed that the Church partakes of Christ HIMSELF, who shares with us His life, a life that we need desperately!
