This was one of the best albums of the 80's and this was one of the top love songs of the greatest decade. Any song that made it on Vice was a great hit. Long live the 80's!!!!
@@MrLawnboy77I never recall hearing it on the radio at all. I didn’t find this song until I borrowed the CD from the library about 10 years ago. It’s a great one!
The 80s left a taste in my mind for music and lyrics that can never be replaced. Yes, a lot of Miami Vice episodes helped launch these songs into orbit. Back then, the television was our computer and cell phone. I remember when Friday Night Videos came on through the air and not cable, because we lived in the country. You were lucky to have a soda pop, and if you had some peanuts and a radio nearby you were in heaven. We had to drive to the mall, pretty far, to buy a cassette tape of your desire. Things are just so instant and fast now and it makes me want to go back. I remember the first time I heard Mike and the Mechanics, Silent Running, I was stone cold hooked. Funny how the instruments and lyrics are used by Phil Collins on his hits. Hope everyone is doing ok.
Remember recording this song onto my own personal "Miami Vice" compilation cassette. It included stuff from Phil Collins, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Glen Frey, Jan Hammer, Dire Straits, Philip Bailey, Robert Palmer, The Cars, Don Henley and CHIC.
I hear you bro. This song was played by me I think over and over one night in 1989 when I was deeply troubled by life. It helped me calm down then and every time I hear this song, salt water wells in my eyes to quote Julian Lennon. Peace to you bro and all of you who were growing up in the 80s.
I'm not far behind you, bro. I've been missing the '80's for the last 15 years. They were so much better than this sorry-ass decade as well as the last one. Seems like everything just went to shit after '00.
Ong Hui. Koh same here....there isn;t a day that passes by where I think about that unforgettable 80s decade, to me, the BEST decade of all, the people, fashions, music, ...everything....im not fully happy, something was left in 1984 and I long for it day in and day out, if there was a time machine, I would not hesitate a minute to use it and go back for ever and stay there for ever. feel sad. miss the 80s so badly.... \
+MiamiViceRocks1 I totally agree with you, except for some of the questionable fashion trends; i.e. mullets, jeri curls, spandex, excessively short shorts. Lol. Even as child I remember thinking WTF? But other than that, it was the greatest decade ever! And yes, 1984 was a landmark year. That's when we first got cable and if I wasn't watching my cartoons or other favorite shows (V, Miami Vice, The A-Team), it was all about MTV. I remember that year like it happened yesterday and I was only in first grade. If you ever happen to come across a time machine, please let me know. This is a song that makes you think of another beautiful wonderful person in your life. You are a blessed individual if you have such a person. Great song..
Engima sampled the intro of this for their song Callis Went Away on their début album (but wikipedia failed to note that). For many years I had assumed this was Paul Young singing though it was way softer than his usual style. The tape I had didn't have details. It's only in recent years I learnt they had a third singer for this and "You Are The One"
No, this is NEITHER the late great Mr. Paul Young NOR Mr. Paul Carrick!! It's actually a singer by the name of Mr. John Kirby who ONLY did this and "You Are the One" on their first studio album. There's one more song "A Call to Arms" from this album that's also NOT sung (lead) by either of the two Pauls. It's sung by Mr. Gene Stashuck (sp) instead. Both Gene and John were dropped after this album.
songsfinallyuploaded yes you are absolutely correct Mike Rutherford decide to do a Alan Parsons thing where there would be all kinds of singers on The albums you look at the old Alan Parsons albums do you had David from Pilot you had Eric woolfson of course who was a member r i p you also had Alan Price from the Hollies and all kinds of people who supplied voices on Mike and the mechanics albums to it was the same exact thing
@@songsfinallyuploaded a mystery why John Kirby was dropped, he has a gorgeous, pure voice. I think he was the lead vocalist on the song 'hurry home' by wavelength....
This song takes me back to my first love from back in the day. She grew apart, I never did. In the end, I had to let go, but my heart never really did. I heard from her a few years later. She actually called before she left the continent. Now she's on the other side of the planet living her dream. Sometimes, at sunset, just before the last limb of the sun disappears below the horizon, I sing a few lines from this song. When you rise over her land, take my love with you great Sol and give it to her. Let her know I'll be waiting here for so long. Par avion.

And there's an island in the sun

Without you

Here comes the dreaming of you
Breathing your love in me
Here comes the night (night)
Here comes the feeling I've been
Waiting here for so long
I've been waiting here for so long
There's a time and there's a place
When we can share the silver night
Silent room
In my bed an empty space
'cause there's no other in my life
Only you
Here comes the night (night)
Here comes the dreaming of you
Breathing your love in me
Here comes the night (night)
Here comes the feeling I've been
Waiting here for so long

Saludos desde Peru . Una joyita 😭
a beautiful song, they dont make them like that anymore
@@moishe43 Yes, it is. Never heard of "Hurry Home" by Wavelength. Have to check-it-out.

Par avion.
This touched my heart - we've all been there.
Enjoy the rest of your life
