One correction on the narration about the air cover during Operation Urgent Fury. It was the A-7 Corsair II, not Crusader as one of the aircraft that flew air cover. I should know because it was my squadron (VA-15) that was involved flying the A-7's.

This operation was like a Hollywood cartoon. Military was not ready and had not planned the operation. An associate, whose son was a medical student in Granada told his father the only danger he faced was from the U.S. military. In fact, students played sports with the Cubans. The U.S. Army on the ground had to make a call to the U.S. and request they contact U.S. Navy sources and tell them to stop shelling the U.S. Army personnel. The U.S. started the situation by bribing a lady leader of a nearby island to request U.S. action in Grenada. The lady politician owned a construction company. Her company got a big cash award for her action. Margaret Thatcher was very P.O.'d and she made sure Ronald Reagn was aware of her attitude.
