Great pattern I had to get it. 😂 very helpful video too. I’ve had trouble with shirring , it just wouldn’t work, but I’ll try again.

Just keep practising! I'm sure you'll get it. Play around with your machine settings if you have to. I promise shirring isn't as hard as it looks! 🙂 ~K

Thank you Tami - a great video to help with this part of the Ballad Blouse. I love your patterns, love that they have very few pieces to cut out and much easier than store bought patterns. Is there any chance you can make a video from start to finish for this shirt? I'm a new at sewing clothes, I usually make bags and some of those come with step by step videos and I find it very helpful. While making this shirt and Melody Dolman, I have had to look up each section on RUclips for instructions on how to do it. I'm sure after time it will be second nature...however, having a step by step video instructions from start to finish would be extremely helpful. Thanks again Tami - it's just a suggestion. Kris

Thank you Kris!! We have virtual workshops for different patterns during the year instead of sew alongs. The Melody was actually the most recent one.. so sorry you missed it! ~K

Hello! I am noticing in the video that your example top does not have a separate shirred yoke but it all one piece and the top is shirred. Is there a pattern piece without having the separate yoke? I think it flows so much nicer.

Hi Tammy. That was an earlier version from the testing phase and it didn't work out for us unfortunately. ~K

Every other source of information that I have ever come across recommends hand winding the elastic thread on your bobbin. I was a little surprised at the machine recommendation here.

They have a fancy sewing machine.

Our testers thoroughly enjoyed switching over from hand winding to machine winding! Many different types of machines too! Give it a try :-) ~K

Could you possibly do pintucks at the shoulder, like release tucks, instead of shirring or gathers? Love this blouse and can't wait to get it! TIA 😊

Lifting Pins and Needles channel just did pintucks, FYI.

Where do buy elastic thread? I’ve never seen with it.

I believe it sells at most fabric stores. We prefer the Dritz brand. If you can't find it in store, here's a link to some on Wawak:www.wawak.com/Thread/Thread-By-Use/Elastic-Stretch/Dritz-Elastic-Thread-Tex-100-30-Yds/#sku=THD111BK ~K

Release Day of the Ballad pattern and I am trying to buy my pattern before I leave for the day (Eastern Time)it is just after 12PM the links to open are slow and when I finally got it in my cart I got a message that Love Notions site is Offline. Does this happen when everyone is trying to buy the new pattern at the same time?

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. Today is the last day of the sale and with the new Ballad release as well, the website is overwhelmed. You an try again later when things calm down. ~K

“Dritz” rhymes with Ritz. “Shirring” rhymes with purring.

Great video. Forgive me but hearing so many sewist mispronounce shirring just makes me cringe a bit. It’s not just you, Tami. Shirring is pronounced like “SHurring” and the other word is shearing link scissors with an “ing” at the end. I’ve heard professional instructors in classes mispronounce these words. I hope I’ve not offended you. I truly like your patterns.
