And this video is exactly why I am a channel member. There are a few comic creators i follow just simply because they avoid negativity. Its easy to snuff out someone's flame to make yours seem brighter. And so few understand that the more flames they build up, the brighter everything around them is. Thank you Regie for encouraging the good over the bad without avoid hard topics like this

I agree with just about everything you said, but would like to add a few points. In terms of content creators, I unsubbed to a bunch of them a while back because I got tired of the unrelenting negativity from them. It's made my RUclips experience much better :)
I realize that as a creator yourself, you don't have to luxury of picking and chosing who comments on your output - I can only imagine how difficult that can be at times. As someone who likes your content, maybe I should be more vocal in a positive way to help offset some the negativity that you're exposed to.
Having said that, I think that negative reviews *can* be helpful, *if* they're done in good faith - the problem is that they rarely are. If a TV show, movie, or comic book isn't good, I appreciate honest reviews that can help me save my time and money. The problem is that what I think we're seeing a lot of now is just 'anti-woke' malicious bad reviews where people are revelling in bashing shows, movies, comics etc. where the lead is a female, a person of colour etc. Certain people LOVE to see those kinds of projects fail, and they take extreme delight in it. They can't just ignore it, say it wasn't for them, give a good faith critical review etc. they want to stomp on it, dance on its grave and go on and on about how it's ruining everything. They aren't just negative comments, they're celebratory negative comments where the people are over the moon happy about how bad something is because it justifies their (IMO) shitty social views.

Sadly I believe that this "hate" is purely for "likes" the more clicks the more ad revenue and more importantly the more of an adrenaline rush for creators. In a world, now that only gives you 5 seconds of fame not 15 minutes, hate get clicks. People who agree or disagree jump on to get their points of view heard and an adrenaline dump. Social media is anonymous for the most part. You can type anything you want without a lick of credibility or accountability. Accountability or being held responsible for ones actions or comments no longer exists. Forces for positivity and good are drowned out, the social media mobs run rampant. Saying that, Regie PLEASE keep creating sensible, positive content. The haters are flashes in the pan that recreate their handles frequently. Decent, fun, informative content like yours is long lasting.

I agree. You should be open to differing viewpoints and ideas. But arguing with strangers on the internet is very rarely productive. Absolutely Yes! i've stopped reading or watching most comic related news, podcasts and videos because it seems like the majority of people don't even watch the content and yet tear it down for one reason or another. Even those who actually consume the content but enter into it with a negative mindset already and all they seem to do is spew more negativity. I think its just the state of the world we live in today unfortunately.

Great topic @regiecollects. I think you have the right approach to things. Cheerlead for things you like. Things you don't, don't let them take any of your time.
I think people's identities have become too wrapped up in their likes and more destructively, their dislikes. Whether its Dems vs. Reps, Lakers vs Celtics, Chiefs vs Bengals, CGC vs CBCS, slabs vs raws, etc, people are craving debate and have to show why their side is better. The worst thing is that most wouldn't dare to say hurtful things to someone's face, the anonymity of the internet gives people keyboard courage and people forget they are dealing with real humans on the other side.
Thanks, Regie. Continue to spread love.

I watched all 5 episodes and was thinking it's a 3 out of 5 show, until the end. What they did to the Kingpin, she beat him by hugging it out and having a good cry. I love the Kingpin, I saved up and chased his first appearance and they just turn him into a simp. Don't you make your money off of engagement? Good comments or bad you still get paid.

    • @RegieCollects

Good question. It not about the money. It's about the hobby and the fact that people in the community are being manipulated. Truthfully, the money made from RUclips itself is minor. And, I would much rather make money from content that helps the community versus harms it which is the reason that I create the type of content that I do. Content that makes people smarter about the hobby...news updates....how to videos....etc versus a bunch of negative content that would get way more clicks.

    • @sirrickthe2nd583

@RegieCollects well said, though I feel that, if I dislike something, I should he able to comment that, as much as being allowed a positive comment. People should be able to dislike something, without being labeled a hater. What I find funny, is they keep pushing these new characters, under the banner, of diversity but, they're really pushing them because the new characters come with little to no royalties. The companies want to push the characters they don't have to share the money on. Back to my original point, I should be able to be upset that they neutered the Kingpin and not be labeled a hater. At times it feels the creatives and those in charge hate the characters, medium and fans.

    • @jabezcreed
      @jabezcreed 5 месяцев назад +3

@@RegieCollects No, I'm just saying people who enjoy shows like to comment and engage with reviews, etc. I think the people who dislike shows also comment and engage with reviews.
Now I think there's wisdom in personally avoiding negativity in my life, but we also can't be afraid that sometimes the social media crowd will dislike a show or movie. In my day, I have engaged in plenty of spirited positive and negative review discussions on RUclips videos and forums. I was an apologist for the Justice League movie when it came out, despite the overwhelming negative tone to online conversations. I can't stand the way Hickman's Avengers and Secret Wars resolved, and I joined a lot of web forums and RUclips show comment sections to critique that as well. Ultimately, I think social media amplifies any discussion good or bad as long as a lot of people are talking about a topic. All we can do is use our own time and energy for positive or negative.

This is an important topic. I don't think many people understand how social media algorithms will intentionally show them content that will provoke negative emotions with the intent of manipulating "engagement" (aka Facebook fighting). Keyboard muscles and online outrage are real, and social media companies know how to manipulate those emotions to keep people online and on their platform. This ultimately creates negative in our hobby and way beyond, rather than encouraging thoughtful dialogue and finding ways to understand others who think differently based on diverse life experiences and influences. With that said, I always appreciate your thoughtful, positive content, Regie. 👊

Unfortunately social media doesn't push anything. As you know the algorithm pushes content that is viewed and interacted with, and as we've all seen, negative content receives tons more engagement. The algorithm pushes it out to more users which gets more engagement, which causes it to send out to more users...and on and on it goes.
Positive engagement will have the same effect, except PEOPLE don't feel compelled to engage with content that isn't divisive or inflammatory. Give it a couple months, and create a video with strong negative opinions on literally anything in our community and I can guarantee it will be your most viewed and commented video to date. It's the state of our society as a whole.

Someone down below in the comments says, "I like confrontation. It's fun." I think there are plenty of people (ok, men) who feel exactly the same way. Why? Maybe it's the same reason that almost every competitive sport I've ever played in so often devolves into arguments, violence, etc. Testosterone? A culture that glorifies violence and finds serial killers and vigilantes fascinating? Who knows?

As you state, this is broader than Echo. I think there are a number of reasons why people react with a strong opinion in response to a positive or a negative youtube video. Firstly, social media depends on triggering people - positively or negatively. 1 - Social media is an incubus that feasts on the human desire to be noticed and listened to. 2 - Keyboard warriors in the comic (or sports, or politics) niches are people who care deeply about the subject matter... and when they see something that is discordant with their beliefs, they become defensive and many then go into argument mode. Again, human nature. 3 - These two things are then propelled by the monetization of youtube - 90% of those with channels (who make money from youtube - and youtbe that makes money by selling ads) depend on poking people into a reaction. The entire charade depends on pissing off one-half of Social Media users into action. Virtually every youtube video and facebook post has a title and cover picture designed to get a visceral reaction - they're movie posters with someone flipping the bird or blowing kisses. Social media engages by agitating, so that people who feel strongly one way or the other will click. Then, those who also have a need to be heard are going to comment. You, in particular aren't much of an agitator... but don't be naive either - successful youtubers such as yourself understand the need to be bombastic and stake out a firm position or ask an incendiary question on the title page to get people to strongly agree or disagree. Not "Here's what I think of comics that I recently read" - it's got to be... "The comic I just read is the greatest (or worst) ever."

  • @waltercahill1942
    @waltercahill1942 5 месяцев назад

I think part of the problem is that social media, youtube, etc.... provides a way for people to vent. People who loved the comics, and then loved the first three phases of the MCU are really disappointed in what is being put out these days. They really want it to be good, or at least decent, so they will check it out even tho they know it might disappoint them. It's frustrating and disappointing, but they don't have Kevin Feige's phone number. They can't interract with Marvel studios to try and get them to make better content. So commenting on videos like yours is an easy avenue to take to be able to vent and voice an opinion. I wish I could be positive but there is very little to be positive about these days. What I really wish is that people could be able to voice their opinions, whether positive or negative, without being bashed for them. But that is not the society we live in today. I do enjoy your videos, and I appreciate your positivity and I hope that doesn't change. Thanks for being the person you are, and I will look forward to your next video

  • @Loscomicjourney

I 💯 agree, I never understood why someone would dedicate so much time to being negative. I know it might not be easy to be positive but it takes a lot of time and effort to be negative. And at a time when an algorithm is king it is going to push whatever gets the most likes/views and currently that is hate. Which is just sad. If you don't like something then just move on to the next thing. Why deliberately try to ruin something for someone else. It's all because of an algorithm, it's given people incentive to push whatever gets the clicks and that currently is negativity. Hopefully this can be turned around and we can just get back to enjoying the hobby. If you don't like a certain title don't buy it, if you don't like a certain show/movie don't watch it. But don't try to crap on someone else's potential joy. Keep up the positivity Regie. Stay safe my friend. 👊🏼

I actually did some research on this, from a social point of view. I see hundreds of students on a daily basis, so I have a nice group to discuss this with. There is so much to say for this, and it can hardly be summarized in few words. I will attempt it anyway.
The reason why people are so determined to not like something and giving voice to this, is because of the feeling of being stifled. It used to be that you could not like something, tell that you didn't like it, and give a reason for it. It was then respected. You could move on. However. In the past, give or take, ten years, there has been a tremendous growth in not accepting a negative comment on anything creative that is out there. People who say they don't like something, are responded to by being pushed in a certain corner where they do not necessarily belong. 'If you do not like this, it's because you're a bigot'. Or 'you're unaccepting of minorities. You lack vision'. Not just from other commentors, who are your peers, but actually from creators and organisations as well.
What this does is create the feeling of censorship and limitation of free speech and opinion. And the past teaches us, when people feel this way, they will only grow more loud. It is a form of cause and effect. Because people feel wronged about the lable they wrongly get.
Over the course of history, we see a certain cycle constantly returning. It's called Thesis-anitithesis-synthesis. A certain issue rises or a certain status quo has been there for a long time (the thesis), and then an anti-movement will form, being extra loud (the antithesis). Eventually, this will lead to a sort of middle way, a coexistence, which is then the synthesis. This in turn can form the new Thesis over time, etc etc.
This cycle is broken on the social media platform, because of the aforementioned status, the anonymity that comes from being on social media, and the ability to post your opinions on an endless supply of topics. The synthesis does not form, because there is a huge lack of actual direct social conversing. People don't know the opposite side, so it is easier to not have empathy and to imagine them evil monsters.
I had this happen myself actually. I have this app that tracks my comics collection and allows people to give comments on the comics they read. I read X-terminators, by Williams. I did not like it. So I was honest about this, and said I did not like the comic, and the reasons were various. Dazzler's supposed age versus the almost teenage version portrayed, the lack of storytelling that draws me in, the needless gore. I had, what I thought, a well laid out opinion based on good arguments. But the responses I got were an immediate 'you're a sexist for not liking it. You hate women working in comics. You can't tolerate someone else's success'. Personal attacks. Then the app Admins themselves called me a bigot and deleted my comment, while there was not a single statement even remotely close to bigotry in there. I'll admit to me getting annoyed and even angry for this, because, why can't I say I don't like it without being called a name for it and receiving a wrong lable?
Multiply this sentiment manyfold, and you get what is social media today.
Now, whether or not social media pushes negative content to be more successfull in the algorhythm, I do not know. Possibly. Populists in politics do the same, basically. Emphasizing the negative to gain more support. Maybe emphasizing the negative content on social media causes more clicks, and therefor more money, and is a good business?

@@RegieCollects I agree with the OP 100% but I will add this to address your question: why anyone seeks out content that they know they won't like.
I'm old enough to have watched Star Wars in the theaters in the late 70s. I've seen every movie multiple times in the theaters. I grew up playing with all of the toys and playsets from the movies. I'm what you might call an invested fan. I would say, as many would agree, that Kathleen Kennedy and Disney have ruined the franchise. I really enjoyed Rogue One (shocker) and The Force Awakens was mid, but not horrible. Pretty much everything else they've made besides "maybe" The Mandalorian and Andor has been hot, steamy garbage. I kinda' figured Solo was going to suck. Should I have not watched it? What if it turned out to be another Rogue One?
When you have been a franchise fan for decades I would think it would be apparent why many of us continue to watch - and continue to complain - about the ruination of a once beloved world where epic battles between heroes and villains played out. "The message" has replaced good story telling. Checking boxes has replaced the story arch and hero's journey. I've basically given up at this point on anything Marvel or Star Wars. But that's a defeat I've only conceded recently. I can't imagine that you would abandon a comic you've collected for decades because of a couple of bad issues. So how many issues would you continue to buy before you stopped "repeatedly seeking content that you don't like" (as you put it)?
Fans are called everything under the sun when they speak out about the lazy writing coming out of Hollywood this past decade. The critics have a point. When Alfred says "this suit is perfect" and Batwoman replies, "It will be when it fits a woman.", no one thinks that is good writing. The writers didn't even think it was good writing. But they don't care about fans. They only exist to drive the message. And if you disagree, well that makes you the problem. So like I said, I gave up last year (2023). Content creators still watch the material so they can opine on it, obviously. And every once in a while they'll say something positive about a show when the blind squirrels in Hollywood find a random nut like they did with Andor. I don't agree that it's the critics or social media driving this. If you like what's coming out of Hollywood then great. I'm glad someone is enjoying it. But when a director or movie's main character literally tells the fans that this movie wasn't made for you, how can you really blame them for speaking up?

  • @epb7284

Hi Regie! In short, I agree with you here. Personally I don't understand why people want to go looking for trouble. We are all unique individuals with our own tastes (for the most part) and like and dislike our share of things. I'm with you on just going to the sources of things that we favor and staying away from things that we don't. It seems there are just personalities that tend to get a thrill out of it, when they could be spending their time and energy (and thoughts) on better things, such as their own passions. I wonder about this now and again when I run across a video where the host feels like they have to defend themselves, because someone leaves a comment that doesn't lift them up, but rather tears them down. I think to myself, why are they even on their channel? I really think some people make it a mission to stir up trouble and feed off of the reactions. Anyway, I appreciate your words here. ~Eric

I did watch all of echo and it was kind of a train wreck. It's supposed to be her hero arc but there was nothing heroic about it. Hey Regie! It's been a while! And this particular topic is why it's been a while. I have really tried to reduce and limit my social media intake because I am just so tired of the trolls. I'm about to go on a long personal opinion, but firstly, I have nothing but absolute positive vibes and feelings about you, your channel and value you bring to our comic community!
The unfortunate reality is that, although your video is focused on the comic community, you could take this conversation and swap out comics for sports, politics, movies, cards or absolutely any conversation where opinions come into play. So I would say with 100% confidence that social media is the catalyst behind the troll movement.
Let's take a very basic, and someone extreme example. Let's just say I have a purple car. I have a neighbour who hates the colour purple (I'm Canadian so please forgive the extra "u's" - LOL). Before social media, if my neighbour walked by my house and screamed at me for having a purple car, everyone in the neighbourhood would think the guy is absolutely crazy for making such a ridiculous comment...the neighbour very likely wouldn't make that comment for that very reason. Introduce social media. Now the neighbour has a platform where he could be anonymous and hide behind a keyboard and make ridiculous statements because they feel empowered with anonymity and safe place to hide. It's a very dumb and extreme example but it puts into context the power that social media gives the trolls and the troll movement.
Personally, I think we are identifying a new phenomenon and mental illness. The troll movement is rampant across all social media and all hobbies, interests or any conversation. For some reason, these trolls feel the need to share their negative views and degrade what could be a healthy conversation into vitriol and hate. Conversations escalate and degrade exponentially fast into name calling and venomous hate simply over a difference of opinion. There is no middle ground or room for a constructive conversation anymore, it's all about extreme opinions and points of view and if you don't agree, the verbal attack commences...and then the trolls continue to pile on en-mass.
Another non comic example. I'm a big KC Chiefs fan, and have been since 1991. Nobody cared about the Chiefs for years. No hate, little love, just a very neutral place to be. Now that they have a dynasty, they are the #1 team to hate and you can't see a single social media post about them that doesn't involve a derogatory laugh emoji, hateful accusations or just plain negative commentary. The troll movement integrates and migrates into everything within the social media space because it provides them a safe platform to say ridiculous things they would never say to another human in an actual face to face conversation. In some cases, they may not even have a real opinion, they are just looking to pick a fight.
In regards to how it impacts comics and comic based media content, I don't understand why they are even participating in the hobby. It seems there are so many people in the community that are angry with any number of things ('wokeness', deviation from what they feel a character needs to be, not liking a movie/show/character etc, etc) I wonder why they still feel the need to participate. A hobby is supposed to be enjoyable and fun, if the hobby does not bring them this level of enjoyment, or any enjoyment for that matter, why do they continue to be part of it? To be honest, I think their new hobby is just trolling. If they can't enjoy the hobby their way, then they will try their best to make it unenjoyable for the rest of us.
It's just so astounding to me that someone would invest so much energy and time into being negative. They feel their opinions are the only ones that matter and will do everything in their power to make sure you know their opinions and try to make your experience as miserable as they are. It's sad really...my personal opinion is that is it actually an undiagnosed new mental illness compounded by fragile male egos (depending on the topic).
As a consumer of content, it's easy for me to 'just keep scrolling'. I wish the trolls would do that and not inundate is with their negativity, vitriol and hate...but that's not what they are about. I can only control my actions and reactions, not theirs...so I just 'keep scrolling'. The odd time I will call them out. When the response is thoughtfully crafted in a way that calls our their ignorance I actually find they do not engage, so they aren't dumb...but if the response is just a slap back at them, they thrive on that because not it devolves into a negative name calling war and that's what get's their juices flowing.
As a creator of content it must be even more difficult for you. You don't want to censor, but you also don't need some rando spewing garbage and negativity on your content just because they may not agree.
So, I think you are right in that we can try to remove the negativity to some extent. We have to be patient, unemotionally tied to the topic or conversation and simply just ignore. Once the troll realizes they aren't getting any bites, they quickly move along. We can take the power back, but we will never truly eliminate the troll movement unfortunately.
That's my two cents on the subject anyway and my apologies for taking up so much real estate on your threads with my bad analogies and personal opinion on the matter. Keep up the great work Regie!

"They know that the negative is what gets people to engage" this is pretty much it. It's the same reason why someone's rude comment is typically at the top with 50+ replies on any given social media post, instead of the positive ones. I feel this can be said for mainstream news media as well. You would think the world is on fire based on what they choose to cover, but thats because double homicides and car chases drive more viewers than anything remotely positive .

It said Tuesday that it "does not endorse" the candidates nominated by activists shareholders in the preliminary proxy filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. As much as people like to keep everything "positive" I guess. There are obviously issues with Disney media. I personally think people are trying to destroy Disney. I've seen it blow up the worst after the Star Wars sequels and Kennedy. The Last Jedi hurt Disney and Star Wars so bad. It just filtered into Marvel now.

This sort of video is like a balm on the gaping, festering wound of this community. I echo all of your sentiments. I cannot make sense of any of part of this landscape other than negativity/vitriol/hate is content that is easy to create, easy to go viral, and leads to monetization and clout.
There are a LOT of people who are actively and almost happily engaged in this fictitious culture war that we find playing out. They see it as their job to protect the franchises and properties that they claim to love. Except that love has, over years, morphed into a faux-ownership over that franchise/property. They're so entrenched in this "war" that most of them now seemingly dump on projects before they know anything about them - whether it's casting, story, trailer, or the show/movie itself. They dump on it at every stage, convinced of the correctness of their opinion from day one. It's arrogant, ignorant and idiotic. These people think they're doing us all a favor. They think they're standing up to the studios and pushing them into making "good" content by punishing them with negativity. Let's be clear - the vast majority of the takes offered by these people does NOT stem from the "constructive criticism" tree; it comes from the "it wasn't made for me so it's trash" tree. Entitlement is the disease the people suffer from.
You're right, Regie. If these perpetually aggrieved "fans" would just.....move on. Say nothing. Wait for the thing they WILL enjoy and celebrate, we'd all be better off. But they won't do that. There's no clout in that. There's no dopamine rush in saying nothing. There's not even a dopamine rush in constructive criticism. But there is in declaring something as trash. In calling something "wOkE pRoPaGaNdA". In demanding that people get fired. In hoping for projects and companies to fail. We're sick, Regie. Fandom is sick. We're meant to CELEBRATE the things put in front of us, not whine incessantly.
Who repeatedly eats at a restaurant they don't enjoy? And yells at other patrons that they shouldn't be eating there, and they're sheep for doing so? That they shouldn't be enjoying the experience, and that the chef, and owner should be fired (who fires the owner, btw?). Nobody does this, but that's pretty much what the permanently negative trolls (that's what they are now) do.
Thanks for this, Regie. More of it (when necessary) please. I don't know if the people who need to hear it are getting the message but I sure hope so.

Its big business critiquing shows now Regie especially if people dont like it. There are whole youtube channels out there and some are very successful. I liken it to siskel abd ebery back in rhe old days. They reviewef movies knowing they werent going to like them but reviewed it anyway and of course gave it negative reviews. It made good tv in a way and people watched. I think this is the same thing. Marvels content is not as popular as it was and maybe the quality isnt as good so there s a lot of negativity now for whatever reasons. I'll admit ive grown a bit bored nof suoerhero movies. That's never happened to me with comic books though. I honestly like the comics much better than the movies. Ill always be a fan of comic books and always collect something. As for the movies the same thing happened ton Westerns. They cranked our hundreds in the 50s abd 60s. By the 70s and 80s they slowed down because the popularity tanked. Same thing is happening to superhero movies.

A lot of the time is bigots upset with companies that are "woke" so they automatically hate on anything the company drops. Disney is just one of those companies that bigots love to hate on because they acknowledged that LGBTQ people exist. Another thing that happened was when the Little Mermaid casted a black woman. They started calling Disney "woke" and being so negative about it. It's a shame to have people like that, but representation matters. I appreciate that Disney/Marvel and other companies that include different people from different cultures. It felt amazing to see Namor and people that look like me in Black Panther 2. I got to the point where I do not go to forums anymore to speak with others because there is too much negativity that has nothing to do with what we are watching/reading. I’ve learned over the last few years that this is a very nuanced conversation. To say that all of these people are bigots would be inaccurate. I used to feel this way and I unsubscribed from several people because of the negativity but I'm being very honest I was wrong. I was wrong just ignoring the problems in writing and storytelling and them changing characters just for the sake of checking boxes and not putting story 1st because look at what's happening. I'm sorry as someone who's grandmother was Native American this show didn't make ANY sense. Native culture did NOT have women doing the roles they portrayed these women doing. Half of the show was rehashing things from the Hawkeye series flashbacks that could have all been done in one or two good dialogue scenes and then changing her power set. Echo's Task Master type abilities were so awesome and there made ZERO sense in that entire part of the storytelling other than to push and agenda of telling a story to supposedly empower women. Women are already empowered the way they are. Echo was already a great character with great powers but they go over the top and in doing so do a story that makes ZERO sense and feels hollow and empty. This show was bad. I had no personal investment in Echo as a character or her family and friends because their wasn't enough focus on them. There possibly could have been if they wouldn't have wasted all the other screen time on pointless flashbacks that only took away time that could have been spent on Maya's character development and all of her friends and family. I have many more I could say but I don't want to go on all night. I also could do the same on other shows and movies the writing show running and productions are bad period. It's gotten so bad and maybe if we wouldn't have all been ignoring it and continually giving them a pass it wouldn't have gotten so bad. So I'm sorry I disagree remaining silent or ignoring things when they're bad I see now over the last 3 years isn't the right thing to do and I was also to blame as I used to be one of the same ignore it people.

When it comes to comics and entertainment in general, I've loved stories some people hated as well as the reverse. Many times, I have agreed with the majority. That's life.
Personally, I enjoy discussions that go beyond petty name calling or simplistic comments like... the usual. I have found in such discussions that some people may not have all the facts about an issue and may write a negative comment about a story that remind one of a personal experience or whatever emotions or beliefs they may have.
Social Media is a tool, a tool that allows for social engagement, which can be positive or negative. I'm grateful for it because the fascists and evil doers prefer it when people are kept silent: it makes it easier for evil doers to divide and control the "rabble", which is how the Fascists really view the public!
I think Freedom of speech and the press are almost sacred rights we possess and whenever some try to control and stifle those rights, it usually leads to more dangerous measures not too far down the line.

    • @rockshopmusicandcomics1340
      @rockshopmusicandcomics1340 5 месяцев назад

No I'm not talking about critics, and they don't tend to troll those that don't agree. And of course they are going to watch a complete series or movie as they're getting paid to. I'm talking about really anyone else; keyboard warriors, that if you don't fall in line with their likes, politics, ideology, etc, then you are the enemy. And that does include showrunners, including comic writers, that do the same. As far as keep watching, I was talking more or less about someone that keeps watching a show they hate (you can see this on IMDB episode reviews, people that leave one star reviews for each episode, and it's clear they watched it. Why waste your time drowning in negativity like that?) @@stanleyclark923

I go into it with an open mind and not someone else's auxiliary feels. I liked Black Adam and enjoyed the Flash and Loki and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Haven't watched Echo yet. And She Hulk could have been better but it was entertaining.

    Imo
I think people need validation of their opinions..
Or.. they are trying to change others' opinions.. again so they can be right
Or.. they have a negative view of the world, and they hate their place in it, so everything they encounter is approached with a negative outlook.. and misery loves company
Or like Alfred told Bruce Wayne in the Heath Ledger Batman movie.. Cause they thought it was good sport.. because some people just like to watch the world burn. 😂😂😂
Or..they use past experiences with a company or people and attach those previous experiences onto the latest situation/product/IP
    Or..
    I dont know😂
    I think it's the last one 🤔

When reading reviews and or comments I think it’s important to try to separate the Haters from the people who have legitimate criticisms. Opinions aren’t facts and it’s ok to have them but I believe it’s important to have facts or opinions to back up your opinion. Just because a studio releases something comic book related doesn’t mean we all have to like it. Moon Knight, She-Hulk, Secret Invasion, Falcon and the Winter Soldier all missed the mark. Marvel the commonality here is writing! They are not invested in the writing and they create shows that are not compelling and give us characters that don’t even resemble the character that we originally enjoyed. Echo was not compelling at all, her “powers” were not fleshed out and I think they missed a wonderful opportunity to link her to Kahhori. However, her scenes with Kingpin were great. Quit forcing these narratives down our throat and starts giving us reasons to find like the character and their stories. When you try to make your kind eat their vegetables what happens kicking and screaming. However when you learn that the brussel sprouts were roasted in the oven with bacon, Parmesan cheese and are drizzled with a balsamic glaze reduction now you’ve got reasons to give it a try and you might find out that you actually like it. Same thing applies.

"Wouldn't it be great if we just remained silent?" ... not a fan of this sentiment. These companies are saving a fortune in market research by getting reactions to their products. You're getting reactions that you can tailor to better connect to or grow your audience. Fans get a chance to hear from more than one side of an argument. I think creators should maintain a positive vibe but not get so down about comments they perceive as negative. I don't neccessarily view the comments you read aloud as negative just some guy's perspective.

I respect you not liking the comment but the context was people that repeatedly seek out content that they admittedly do not like only to repeatedly stated that they do not like this content. It’s seems nonsensical that someone would continue to engage in an activity that they do not enjoy.

I guess I'm in the minority because i really enjoyed the show. I think some people just like to complain for the sake of complaining.

We can’t have god without the devil. We can’t grow with yes men around us. The real question is. “Are negative comments warranted?” If so, then bring it. Content creators need to listen to them otherwise they won’t make money. Who remembers the 1st sonic movie? The ppl didn’t like his render, so they went back and changed it. What about the 1st Deadpool concept trailer. Ppl love it, and look at it now. Both movies were fishing for hate to move accordingly. One got it, one didn’t, but both studios needed it. It’s an necessary evil in my opinion. That is…if warranted.

Solid comment. There are several challenges that I see.
The first is lack of consensus on what is good / bad. If you read enough comments you will see points on both sides. So, which side is right?🤷🏾‍♂️
The second is weak mind people that do not take the time to watch something for themselves to form an opinion versus repeating what someone else has said.
A third is time. By time, I mean the rush to be negative first without processing what has been seen. I am also referring to people that repeat the same things over and over without allowing for changes to made. Additionally, there are those that also condemn something before it has even been developed. For example, the new DCU is already doomed by many. Why? Because they didn’t like a tweet that James Gunn sent?
I totally agree that opinions are important. I agree that if criticism is warranted it should be heard. Those things are not up for debate in my mind.
      Appreciate you commenting.

Haven’t even watched the video …YES!!! You have whole channels and “careers” that are just straight ‘hater-ade’. I love Dave from comic investments but the comments are crazy there sometimes.

Yep. I stopped watching his channel because of the non-stop toxic bullshit in the comment section (and while he doesn't outright encourage people to be dicks, he doesn't do anything to discourage it, and he knows that the engagement amplifies his channel). So I don't support his channel anymore. He's doing just fine without my eyeballs but I say this to prove that it's okay to walk away from something you don't like, and not make a federal case out of it. :)

I totally agree buddy! I’m getting sick and tired of seeing/reading all the negative news on EVERYTHING. I’ve seen nothing but CGC scam videos and “rants” lately, finding it draining and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to stay positive, and put out positive content myself, because any positivity gets lost in the noise.
