I own one suit, one par of dress shoes and have worn them twice durring past 4years. I work in construction so events that require such style and etiquette pop up very sendomly. But I have been following this channel for about two years and have enjoyed every video, learned a lot of things and implemented them in my own way. Believe it or not the same rules about fabrics and matching metals and accessories apply to every style if you want to look good. I have matching workbooks, workbelt and a watch strap. Thanks for the tips and best of luck.
Here here blue collar brother! I have a white collar wardrobe I can wear once every three months or so since I dont go out very often. I wear workwear 7 days a week but try to mix smart casual pieces into supermarket runs, businesses casual into shopping trips, etc. My advice would be to budget for wardrobe investment purchases, then to slowly integrate it into your wardrobe.
Wow you are a real mans man who has a mans job and dresses as one so refreshing your comment and a nice break from the dandies who are RUclips style and fashion “experts” and flock to this channel. Cheers to you my friend you are a rarity among these sad excuses of men who have nothing better to talk about than pocket squares and suit lapels and would be disgusted by the thought of having to do an honest and hard days work of manual labor.
I'm so glad this came out! As a 31 waist, I find belts at thrift stores very difficult to shop for! But I am a fan of this concept for sure. I have a pair of the Ace Marks woven summer slipper coming in that I think would pair well with white chinos and a woven leather belt and perhaps a light pink shirt. *chef's kiss* Muah! So thank you for this video, I always enjoy learning more about my hobby of men's fashion!
As a 31 waist too, I try to buy belts that have little screws to fix the belt to the buckle. Many brands in my country (Turkey) produce belts this way and it is possible to unscrew-cut-rescrew to the size. So if you find a belt that you like, you may check whether if it’s suitable for alterations.
A video about more modern day suits and how to stand out of the crowd but nothing too flashy so you look odd would be amazing videos! Keep up the good work
Gentleman's Gazette As someone who usually doesn’t have a lot to spend on my classic wardrobe, a guide to good amazon brands would be much appreciated.
@@mann8557 I would not shop for clothes on Amazon at all. The quality and style is not classic. But even if you are on a tight. Budget you can dress well online. Stay tuned for a video series coming up soon
I wasn't aware of the belt buckle options, so I will go to your store and purchase a few, thank you for producing those........decades overdue, you would think, Ravi Peiris M.D.
Thank you for this, so many people don't get this aspect. I always felt like I'm going to ridiculous lengths to match my shoes and belt but I'm happy to hear I'm not entirely crazy lol.
I can't tell you how happy I was to see the Fort Belvedere belt system, I was JUST about to drop some dough on another brand but I like the buckles here a lot better, around the same topic, I haven't been able to find a video guide to the varieties of trousers and dress pants as a whole, if it doesn't already exist I think it might be a good idea for a future video
That is fantastic that you are selling high quality belts now, it is so hard to find a belt that fits properly and is high quality. Personal I prefer side tabs with no belt loops on my trousers so I don't have to wear a belt, unfortunately not many trousers have that unless you have something made Bespoke.
It would be wonderful if you can create a combo; for example, selecting 3 buckles and 2 belts for certain price. Excellent video, by the way. I am glad you came out with that wonderful idea, keeping quality always in mind. I hope these belts can sell fast. 😊
Oh, man... If there's one video that will send down a rabbit hole it's this one hahahahah Nonetheless, great video! It clarified a lot of questions I had...
Greetings! What are your thoughts on braided leather belts vs solid-surface and textured leather belts on casual, business casual, and semi-formal wear? Any chance you and Preston can do a video that explains this in good detail?
When I wear a suit, I like to have black leather (Shoes, belt, watch strap) with silver metal (Belt buckle, Tie pin, cufflinks) with the exception of a Gold watch on a black leather strap and a Gold Ring. I tried changing all the metal to gold but I much prefer it to be silver. Not sure if that's breaking a style rule.
So I just purchased an all black Citizen dress watch. Gorgeous watch, black metal band, black metal case. With a suit, would I then need a black belt buckle? That seems off...Would this be an exception to the metal matching rule? If so, what color belt buckle would you recommend? Any other thoughts?
I have a 27 inch waist, so the only belt I have is a black leather belt with removable buckle. I had to saw the belt short, as I conceal carry and it's nearly impossible to find any belts in my size, let alone a belt sturdy enough to secure a holster concealed under a tucked shirt
I've never been a big fan of belts. One of the first things I learned to sew was removing the belt loops from pants. Less to think about when putting together an outfit.
I never went for Anson because of a few reviews from people i trust saying the quality is average but now that GG made some belts i will have to get a couple colors and buckles because its a brand i can trust without seeing reviews.
Interesting video. Thanks. One question... you wear a tweed jacket and cotton trousers.... one is winter, the other summery style.... is there something to consider in matching both or could we just do it whitout questions?
I know the people who run the company, I like them and they are nice. I am not a fan of their belts, which is why I created my own. Their normal belts are the made in China ones with the zamac buckles I would never wear. They did launch a higher end belt line of Italian leather belts that are also made in China. They were nice than their normal ones, but still not something I am interested in. Also, they use the ratchet system, and I am simply not a fan of it. I can always tell if it is a ratchet belt and I have yet to see a well-dressed, elegant person with a ratchet belt... I have also never found that I needed a ratchet system to keep my pants in place. It's one of those solutions for a problem that does not really exist in my opinion.
Hello there I just had a question , I'm looking to buy a tan leather satchel bag , would I be able to combine the tan bag with dark brown or black leather shoes and belts or would that not be possible?
Great video, Raphael. But what about the times when matching is not an option at all. Green and blue belts are very difficult to find, for example, and watch straps are even harder. And what about leather jackets? Should they be the same color as well? Cheers!
Wouldn't metal matching be easier if you tried to stick to one metal generally? For example, I personally like silver more than gold or rose gold. Could you do a video about the different metals/metal colors in menswear?
here is the thing. it is hardly possible to choose the colour of buckles in the monk strap shoes. most come with silver buckles. i like wearing gold/rose gold in general. but i can't do anything about the silver buckles of my monks....
We need those in suede to pair it with the chukkas. I hope, you will have a lot of success with the belts! And by the way... will you have some 7-fold-ties in the near future?
Thank you for the video, my only question is what do your wife and kids think of you laying out all these accessories in the hallway? Pleasant greetings from Scotland! P.S. In your video on suit anatomy, we saw terminology for different features of the jacket but I've been wondering, what is the name for those back 'vents' or 'openings' on your grey 3 piece suit?
Hello fellow shoe enthusiasts. I have a question regarding an interesting pair of shoes I found online. They are from a brand called Tresham Shoemakers, they are goodyear welted (or so they say on the sole, although, from pictures, that is very likely to be true). They are a burgundy full brogue oxford, in a wide last. The insole also states that they are Made in England. They are currently marketed at a very low price on a vintage website. Has anyone heard of this shoe brand? I personally cannot find any bit of information online, aside from an old ebay listing.
Gentleman's Gazette. Mmmm. Interesting. Kirby never appears quite so dishevelled. Yes, it must be the lighting, that, or the ill fitting secondhand clothes.
The best way is to skip the belt and go with side adjustments or braces. If i have to where a belt, I like the micro adjustment belt buckles a lot, they adjust quite well. Btw, Raphael, I think you can up your shoe game a bit more now. Frankly, those Ace Marks aren’t very well made or aesthetically pleasing comparing some better shoemakers at a similar price range.
All of my suits and even odd trousers are bespoke that came with side adjusters and suspender buttons, thus as much as I endore these Fort Belvedere’s belt, there is little reason for me to purchase them :( Perhaps, in one day, I’ll get them for my causal (aka low quality rtw) chinos.....
Sorry, but I really believe ratchet belts are the future. The technology is much better and it’s far more practical to use. I would like to see Fort Belvedere design one with all high quality materials.
Gentleman's Gazette fair enough, but the technology is getting better to the point where the average person can’t tell whether or not it’s a ratchet belt or not. Maybe that‘s something Fort Belvedere could work on - a good looking, high quality ratchet belt.

Brianna Williams imagine thinking you are a superior human because you don’t have a desk job 😂😂😂
Workbooks? Lol I think you mean work boots
I'm so glad this came out! As a 31 waist, I find belts at thrift stores very difficult to shop for! But I am a fan of this concept for sure. Yep. if you are in between belt sizes having the perfect fit is something you will appreciate.

A video on items you’d recommend from amazon might be interesting
That might be interesting. It is becoming increasingly difficult though as there are so many fake products on amazon these days
Gentleman's Gazette That is SO true. I’ve noticed Ive been buying less from Amazon every year.
Gentleman's Gazette that’s why I think a guide of sorts would be helpful :)
All the outfits you're wearing in this video look amazing!

More "Is It Worth It?", please.

Your outfits are always beautiful, but this video in particular amazing. Your garments are my style endgame.
Nice classic outfit, dapper trousers
Hello! I’m a big fan of the channel. I was hoping you could do a video one day about wearing gold tone metals in office appropriate suiting! thanks!
It would be wonderful if you can create a combo; for example, selecting 3 buckles and 2 belts for certain price. Excellent video, by the way. I am glad you came out with that wonderful idea, keeping quality always in mind.
I hope these belts can sell fast. 😊
Love this video! Would like to see more videos of this type
Oh, man... If there's one video that will send down a rabbit hole it's this one hahahahah
Nonetheless, great video! It clarified a lot of questions I had...
I do that, the shoes, belt and watch band should match.nice video. thanks for sharing.
Nice video. You always know the right topics.
I love it when he says "Dapper"
Simple solution: wear suspenders
Also could you start selling suspenders at Fort Belvedere, as it is hard to find good quality clip on suspenders.
i love accessories and belts are amazing for dressy and casual.
You got style man. I love watching you. I don't clearly remember what u said but you were looking so good. 💓
Excellent! Please offer rose gold belt buckles to match my accessories (including Fort Belvedere rose gold cufflinks)!
Will do.
Rose gold is for ladies
Great video and an often overlooked topic, but always the sign of a well dressed gentleman.
Love your channel, thank you for all the great information, please keep up the great work. Thank you and God bless.
My first thought was: I am wearing braces. My second thought was: leather loops havf to match.
Congratulations on the belt system, great idea!
No punching below the belt, the other person may buckle. Indeed, what a belter!
Wearing a tie as a belt. Never heard of that. But will give it a try. Might be a great way to put some old ties to good use again...
Greetings! What are your thoughts on braided leather belts vs solid-surface and textured leather belts on casual, business casual, and semi-formal wear? Any chance you and Preston can do a video that explains this in good detail?
This is why I cut my losses and invest in pants with side adjuster. One less thing to worry about.
That's a loser's train of thought!
And that's a sign of custom garments, really like it with a suspenders.
Yes Rosie O’Donnell loves those too!
accessories my friend you look much better in my opinion with a belt on.
I wear suspenders for this reason. All white suspenders are best if, like me, you swear by white solid shirts with matching collars and cuffs.
After watching a video about belts,I really look forward to watch another video about suspenders.
The best video of all of them. Thanks guys.
50 Shades of Brown 💪😄
Super excited you made these belts
Nice video!!!! I always strugle with belts and stuff
Lose some weight and you’ll struggle less
YESSSS AS A FEMALE I AM VERY ATTRACTED TO IT 😍
Very educational, as always. Thanks guys.
this is so cool I feel like a kingsman
What is the make of first rectangular watch shown on black strap? Is it JLC?
So glad I bought the matching belt to my cowboy boots. Whewwww!!! Lol
He's approaching 1m subscribers!!! At long last!!!
I had to watch this 8 times just to be sure Sven doesn't see me out in the street and call me a peasant.
Super excited you made these belts😎
I have a 27 inch waist, so the only belt I have is a black leather belt with removable buckle.
I had to saw the belt short, as I conceal carry and it's nearly impossible to find any belts in my size, let alone a belt sturdy enough to secure a holster concealed under a tucked shirt
Great content 🤜🤛👍👍👍
You could make a patreon account would be a good idea, like for $1 a month patrons can vote on topics.
Sven, you need some purple in that leather collection! :P
Could you do a video of calling cards/business cards and other stationery?
Complementary colors are a better alternative than trying an exact match, with the obvious exception of black.
Ich muss sagen das sie einen echt coolen Kanal haben
Interesting video. Thanks. One question... you wear a tweed jacket and cotton trousers.... one is winter, the other summery style.... is there something to consider in matching both or could we just do it whitout questions?
Sven, what colour would you describe your jacket at 6:09 ?
I’d say that jacket is a medium olive green. It’s a great color for sport coats and more casual styled suits.
2:52 May I ask what timepiece that is? It’s very elegant.
Ik this vid is tailored to men but these are helpful to me as a woman too.....same principles apply to leather sandals belts watches and jewellry
What’s the gold watch in the thumbnail?
Really useful video. Great.
My glasses have gold on them...should i try to match the metals in the belt i wonder?
Do you know about or have opinions on Anson Belts?

Is it okay, to wear a Blue Leather Dress Watch with Brown or Tan Leather Belt and Shoes?
I've just bought some loake tan boots and a matching loake james belt but been unable to wear them out due to the lockdown :(
We need those in suede to pair it with the chukkas. I hope, you will have a lot of success with the belts!
And by the way... will you have some 7-fold-ties in the near future?
In his "Hallmarks of a quality tie" video, he said 7-fold are not better than 3-fold ties
Está roupa é fantástica.
My waist size fluctuates between 24-27 so most belts don't actually fit until I cut them. I prefer suspenders.
Can anyone tell me what make is the black rectangular watch please?
But Rafael, you live in 'Murica now!
Will you come up with a belt we can carry dat thang with?
pew 🔫
Thank you for the video, my only question is what do your wife and kids think of you laying out all these accessories in the hallway?
Pleasant greetings from Scotland!
P.S.
In your video on suit anatomy, we saw terminology for different features of the jacket but I've been wondering, what is the name for those back 'vents' or 'openings' on your grey 3 piece suit?
It was an "action back" with "shooting pleats"
Good video

Is it actually O.K. to wear brown leather accessories like shoes or a belt with black or grey pants or even a black suit?
I mostly wear 3 Peace Suits, so i rarely ever wear a belt
I only wear three piece suits, so I always wear suspenders and never a belt.
Love this video. However, all the clothes you were trying on. All seemed to be quite wrinkled. Is this something new?
It's the lights. Even if you iron something like a shirt, it may look fine in person but on camera it looks more wrinkly.
Gentleman's Gazette. Mmmm. Interesting. Kirby never appears quite so dishevelled. Yes, it must be the lighting, that, or the ill fitting secondhand clothes.
For Preston's next video: Are Idioms Ruining Your Credibility

And what abut beard style that fits with the suite
I can appreciate you may not smoke but a video suggestion how to smoke cigars for gentleman please?

There's only two kind of people wearing white belt, one who sucks in karate, and one who sucks in lifye 🤣
I found this RUclips channel for old people from 50.100 not for young people style colour
The pants in 2:24 need steaming
oompa loompa cam is funny.
✌
But lets talk about those EXTREMELY wrinkled slacks
I don't see matching leather and accessories is a big deal
Although it’s great, but I just can’t afford to buy one.😅
noice
After watching this I bought 15 belts for 3500€ total
I also pair my shoes and my belt with my wallet^^
Sorry, but I really believe ratchet belts are the future. The technology is much better and it’s far more practical to use. I would like to see Fort Belvedere design one with all high quality materials.
I hate the look of them. You can always tell if it is a ratchet belt. I have never seen a well-dressed man with a ratchet belt either...
Gentleman's Gazette fair enough, but the technology is getting better to the point where the average person can’t tell whether or not it’s a ratchet belt or not. Maybe that‘s something Fort Belvedere could work on - a good looking, high quality ratchet belt.
Talk about watches
