I use this mid 2011 Macbook Air, and I can say that it is far better than mid range laptops that we have today. Definitely worth buying in 2022 if you are a student like me. It is fast, modern design, and the screen is astonishing despite not being retina.
I will be getting the 2012 version of that one soon and im really excited for it. I will mostly use it for simple note taking and browsing so there’s no point getting an expensive one for me.

I used it for like two years between 2018-2019 for music production, and it got me through the music course fine. I'm sorta using it at the minute cause I broke my other Macbook, and it's doing it's job 'til I get another one. Older Macbook Airs never seem to break in the same way the newer ones do. They always just are there, doing their job. They're a real tank of a machine.

I sit in front of the TV and just waste time with the MaBook Air. For $200 bucks, I surf, order items online and watch vids on YT! lol Its a good dependable laptop just to use as a daily beater. Its not like I use mine to create the next billion app but I am sure it could be used for a lot! Go for it! I think it will be a good buy. Its a lot cheaper than a $2000 MacBook Air!

Hey bro awesome review of the mac book air 2011 version. I got my a few year back I thought it is not usable but I was wrong. The spec mine has is the low end spec which has 64 gig of storage and 2 gig of ram. This older mac book air 2011 runs so much faster than a budget window 10 or 11 hardware and the built quality is still high end in my eyes. What I been having issue with is that apps are no longer supported on the hard ware with the age of the OS. But as long the broswer still works well enough for me so I can do research for my classes and basic task as well watching RUclips videos without seeing the unsupported error message I am happy. Keep up with your content bro
good, I bought mine on 2nd Feb 2022, it is a 4 Gb RAM Core i5 with 64 Gb SSD hard drive. It came with a magsafe charger. You have said almost everything that it offers but mine has a poor battery that lasts only for 1 or 2 hrs.

I would say get a newer spec like 2015 and up so you can upgrade the OS. I really made this video as a way to show people you can still get a good MacBook Air for general use like internet, movies, downloading, games and some general work. But there are deals out there you just have to look. Why pay more when you can save money. Thats the whole idea of the video. For school you need more up-to-date version. I havent downloaded office and other apps yet so not sure. For me its fast battery last decent and its light weight small and portable so I get lots of utility. The browsing is fast to banking and purchases etc so I am happy!
Dude i have one of these and im running mac os catalina. If you know what your doing you can upgrade it yourself. Mine runs perfectly quick enough for most things. Just battery needs a service
I have this exact same laptop, but the Wi-Fi only works when I am super close to the router, using it at 2.4 GHz since 5GHz doesn't seem to be recommended for it and I can't find the solution on how to be able to get it to work on longer range, the software itself is fast but anything like connecting to google takes decades, should I replace the WIFI-Bluetooth card, buy a Wi-Fi extender UBS, Install Linux on it, or simply give up on it? If anyone could give me some feedback in the comments that would be great.

@@Ryan_Revier on the 2011 model the ram is soldered on, and only came in 2gb and 4gb models. You will need to replace the individual chips on the board to upgrade the ram, and it is much easier to just buy a new motherboard with 4gb ram and replace the 2gb with the 4gb one.

Go on amazon, they sell battery replacements and the new ones have about 20% more capacity than the stock. Its a really easy job the kits usually come with the 2 screw drivers you need, shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to do. I just changed mine today on my 2011 for the second time and ive gotten about 5 hours so far down to 50% of moderate use.
and download coconut battery it'll tell you the health of your battery. Anything over 900 cycles needs changing imo. they say they last up to 1500 cycles but nah.
Believe it or not I use a portable power bank if the battery runs low. Battery replacement is easy you can get a new battery for $25 dollars. The existing battery lasts about two hours but there are cheap solutions to make an easy fix!
I used a 2011 MacBook air that was my moms in 2019, Roblox kept crashing randomly, and its now mine as battery expanded, ill get a new battery soon don't worry I did remove it, the case is normal now too, now I use a 2013 11 inch air 8gb ram and id say the 2013 is a better buy from the 2011, also if you want to take my advice, please get a 8gb model, I got a 2013 as my school was using a 2013 but with 4gb ram, I used it and it was fine but it wasn't too great, now that I got the 8gb model, its just better, also, it performs Minecraft 1.8.9 fine on low settings, Roblox games fine, people playground emulated fine, and currently I'm using Ventura open core patcher and those tests were on Monterey open core patcher.
The drawbacks are definitely the battery, earlier today i compared it to my huge windows user friend, and he even finds this true: a 2013 MacBook Air is better than a 2013 windows laptop as not much 2013 windows laptops have pcie ssds, aluminum enclosures, and they also may have 1366x768 displays which is normal at the time, and usb 3.0, but do they have that at that thin without really bad performance? Yeah… i don’t think so.

@@mrleast1785 I was able to update to MacOs Monterey using OpenCore Legacy Patcher on my 13" 2011 MacBook Air. It does run pretty well I must say, although there are a few graphical glitches due to the GPU Acceleration patches still being in beta and installing can be pretty challenging for the regular user, and you could lose data if you did it incorrectly.
@@mrleast1785 I believe Mr. Macintosh has a tutorial on it. Just to be aware, using it might cause data loss so make a time machine backup if needed or just dual boot it with high sierra. The install takes a few hours too and is pretty advanced, but when you get it fully working you will appreciate it. The developers have enabled features on older macbooks such as airplay to mac, which works brilliant on my 2011 macbook air. Performance can be slow if you have just booted the laptop up, but after a while it becomes faster and runs completely fine. I have also installed mac fan control to control the fans and turbo boost switcher which disables turbo boost on the cpu. If you are just going to do simple things like web browsing, disabling turbo boost will not impact your usage and the mac will be silent almost all the time. That is fron my experience though, and yours may differ since i have replaced the ssd in mine since the old one broke and performed a repaste on the cpu. If you feel like it is something for you, go for it! :)

I bought one in 2020 used it for about 12 hours a day on average, and it died after a year and half. I won't recommend it to heavy users.

AMD is good but you have to pair it with 8gb ram or more a good battery and a fast speed motherbord all of which hp dont realy do in there amd laptops

I say look for a low cost WIFI extender. That should do the trick!

You can use SSD to 1TB and above, the ram limits are 16GB..

That is fron my experience though, and yours may differ since i have replaced the ssd in mine since the old one broke and performed a repaste on the cpu. If you feel like it is something for you, go for it! :)
