Never realized that this type of toy had such a deep history

A promising start, I must say. I am, of course, here because of the teaser on Twitter for the Foodfight documentary. For a first video essay, this is solid stuff. We will watch your career with great interest!

I run one of the oldest Minecraft texture packs out there and am so captivated with this dude, that I've routinely incorporated him (and variations of him) into my work as easter eggs. My Discord server (which also has Pete emojis) occasionally goes on little deep dives into its "lore." We've scoured decades of archived Montgomery Ward, and other toy/novelty catalogs dating back to the 40's to find images of all the variants they once had. It's nice to see we're not the only ones obsessed with this guy. :P
While I own the modern vinyl ones, I'd totally jump at the chance of getting a hold of a re-release of the all-latex version!

So cool to find more pete-heads! I made a website a while back dedicated to the history of the toy which has a little more info.

Glad to know I wasn't the only one that really gave a shit :)

Glad to finally see a comprehensive history of this thing. I also know they made a ball version called Jo-roll (I got two for proof) and the company Basic Fun made also made an Obie Keychain in the 90s, that followed the jobo design oddly enough.
Also I can’t get over how at one point these were called “Normies”

Dude I have been looking for pictures of the Jo-Roll FOREVER. If you could take a pic and send me an email I'd love to see.
I knew about the keychain! I just didn't know enough about it to really put it in the video, I figured it was more of a footnote. Really weird part of the toy's history.
