LOVE this comment. I've made similar comments, except I guessed we will have 17 overtime periods instead of 25. Hell, it's possible that they may crash the entire matrix system and become an infinite event horizon unbreakable tie.

Slavin is such a stalwart member of the Canes. And he has done a ton with his charity to help fight Human Trafficking. What a guy.
He'd have my vote for the Lady Byng if I were allowed to vote on it. For a defenseman as good as he is to only EIGHT penalty minutes is absolutely phenomenal! It's also too bad that the Norris Trophy usually goes to a high-scoring defenseman because Slavin definitely deserves to be in that conversation as well.
I'm absolutely shocked that the Lady Byng finalists weren't Wilson, Trouba, and Rempe.

I'll believe nothing till the Leafs win, to be honest. I cannot take the hopium, I just can't, they may be playing the best kind of hockey to win, not seen since the 60s and the 40s. But I cannot believe it, till I see it. Boston has always won since 1969, so I just expect it.

It should have been noted that of Matthews 20 minutes in penalties, 10 of it was a misconduct he was given for simply being on the ice during a scrum.

Much like Dallas' prize for winning the West was their series again Vegas. And if they win tomorrow, they get to play Colorado. With so many good teams, this is what happens sometimes.

Ahhh, in a series of Chokers, it'll be a war of attrition to see who can hold their breath the longest.

Only 8 PIMs for Slavin is so impressive. Not only is he an elite shutdown defenseman, but he does all of it without having to resort to hooking and holding.
Check out a player named Zach O'Brien. His career is very curious.
He played 207 games in the QMJHL and had a total of 2 PIMs 😄
In the AHL he has 261 games and a total of 10 PIMs.
In the ECHL he has 356 games and a total of 40 PIMs.

Would be cool to see an actual ranking video on defensive denfensemen. Usually the name that is mentioned is Slavin but for someone that doesn't watch many games I have no idea myself.
Gustav Forsling would be up there. This was something of a breakout year for him, if you can "breakout" as a defensive defenseman.
Seeing the Wolves come crawling back with their tails between their legs is kinda funny. No AHL team wins alone.

Fairly certain of the 8 pims for Slavin, 4 were delay of game and 2 was a trip that the guy happened to step on his stick.

Early in this series, Boston's Marchand, had Toronto's Domi and Bertuzzi chasing him all over the ice. Once they let him be, the whole Leaf's team is playing better.

The leafs have the fire power to capitalize on Boston mistakes. If they stick to the same plan we are going to see a 2-1 or 3-2 game. The leafs have completely outplayed and out-defended Boston in the last 2 games.. I have not seen these leafs in 25.years. I was at game 6 and I have not heard the building that loud in over a decade.

The Wolves were totally independent for their first 6 years or so. They were created in 1994 then became an Atlanta Thrashers affiliate in 2001 according to Wikipedia.

Ryan O'Reilly is a guy who takes responsibility for himself on/off the ice.

It says a lot when Swayman, who commented earlier, has to get motivated by showing the Leafs they made a mistake in not drafting him. He didn't even want to be a Bruin to begin with and now has to use the Leafs as motivation because the current version of the Bruins cant seem to get him motivated for the game.
Just following the series to see how the Panthers will play. I keep pulling for the Leafs but now I am thinking what if the Leafs beat the Panthers. Who ever wins I hope the surviving team has one player left that has both legs. Only because someone has to score a goal to end it. The reward the well rested confident FL Panthers. Say that 5 years ago and they would put you in an asylum. Crazy how much things changed so fast. Also special request, ten big giant body destroying blows on Marchand. Thanks.
As much as I hate Toronto, cheering for them. The more Canadian teams the more unbiased reffing there should be… or at least expose the biased reffing if they don’t change it.

In the 2nd Period I could have sworn that Matthew Knies was tripped and that should have been a penalty shot. I thought the ref pointed at the dot. Not a fan of either team, but I was rooting for the Leafs. I knew that Samsonov would have to play the game of his life for the Leafs to have a chance. Great game #7. The Byng should generally go to defenseman. Being an elite defenseman (in your own end, or both) without taking penalties is a special kind of achievement. It’s ridiculous how often it goes to forwards.
@@matthewdaley746 yes that is correct. However, I only see 6 Dmen winning it in a century. A lot of the forwards on the list are purely offensive minded finesse forwards. Rewarding them for not engaging in a part of the game that is mostly irrelevant to them missed the point.
Leafs / Bruins two teams fighting off there demons , Bruins always show up year after year. What will happen tonight, is it another notch on the belt against the buds ? Who knows 🤷🏼♂️

Oh thank God. I usually go to a handful of Wolves games per year and this year they were so horrible 😂 I'm sure NHL teams were not keen on lending them good players as kind of a punishment from going rogue.

Expecting it. Bruins had 15 OTL. Leafs had 10 OTL.
Since they introduced the loser point, I've noticed teams getting to the playoffs, or standings, they probably shouldn't. And they don't generally do well.
I don't think neither one of these teams are a major threat to anyone else in the league still standing right now.

@@tomfilipiak3511 I don't believe that Panthers are infallible. Their style play will hit diminishing marginal returns, as last season when Brady Tkachuck had to literally get Matt out of bed game 3 or 4 when he played with a broken sternum.

Neither of these teams have played like hungry angry dogs. This series has been a snoozer as far as the actual hockey being played goes. Maybe they can lull FL into that “play to not lose” mentality as well though, then they have a chance

It's the Leafs way. They bring Matthews back and he isn't anywhere near ready, they break all their lines for it and nothing works. I really don't know what to expect out of this one. I'd want it to be a battle and both teams wanting it and being desperate. But I have a feeling both teams are so scared of losing that it will be really painful to watch.

If Matthews isn't 100%, just let him sit. We can win with Nylander and the rest of the guys.

Blues fan here, and I agree with your take.
But when you get to the Finals you’re gonna run into a great team, hot goalie, etc. Otherwise they wouldn’t be in the Finals, and that’s what makes playoff hockey so exciting - and often so disappointing!! As a Blues fan since 1968, I feel your pain.
From a die-hard Bruins fan, to the die-hard Toronto fans... no matter what the outcome is, we are still in the same boat together, and it will be much better for all of us if we just support each other, and hate our shit-poor teams instead. We are both tired of being let down, degraded and embarrassed. Regardless of which team wins, we are still in a world of shit, and we swim in this land of chokes together, because we both know exactly what's going to happen in round two against Florida.
