Thank you Danny for getting us together to talk about the late great Mr. Soul. I think we all needed this as we were dealing in our own ways with the loss of an icon that left an indelible mark on our lives

Nice tribute lads to the one and only David Soul. I found out during Friday afternoon as it was breaking in the UK media. My brother text me the news and it was that sinking feeling and sadness that hit me. I feel very lucky that I had the opportunity to ask David a couple of questions about Salem's Lot via his website. It was also an opportunity to thank him and his colleagues for this work of art that is Salem's Lot. Keep up the good work all 👌 Ian Liverpool

What a devastating loss! He embodied the spirit and soul(pun intended!) Of Ben Mears from the novel in his fabulous performance, even though the character is dark-haired in kings source material. Can't help thinking David Soul will always and forever be the ultimate Ben Mears. Fabulous performance! Huge, catastrophic loss to Salem's Lot fans, Starsky and Hutch fans, and especially to his wife, Helen, and his children and friends!! One of my sister's actually died from COPD some years ago. Horrible fuckin shit. R.I.P David Soul 😥🙏🙏🌹🌹🌷🌷👌👌💯

nice little piece guys , acting is like music , its not about playing notes , its knowing when to not play and let the music breath . and david soul had that down to a t in his acting in salems lot.

My love and thoughts go out to David Soul’s family, friends, and fans. What a loss. 😔
Thank you to Ben for my renewed love of Salem’s Lot. This movie really made an impression on me when it came out but I’ve watched it more over the last year than I ever had before.
It’s interesting to know that kids born around 1971 really seem to have connected with it the way we have.
Thank you for posting this tribute. I love hearing people talk about the things they care about. If you all plan a meetup in Ferndale, I’d love to be a part of that. Being there a few months ago to take filming location photos was surreal. I loved being there. I was walking in the steps of something magical. ❤✨

Beautiful tribute to David Soul. He was a multi talented actor/Singer/Humanitarian/Animal Advocate/Athlete. Such a great actor. He was a legend. Loved him since 1975. I have every album he ever did. Salem's lot, scared me, especially that scene when he made that cross and blessed it. I miss him like crazy. Can't get my mind off of him. Rest in peace.

Its always great to see the 3 of you talking about the Lot. All 3 of you were good at conveying your opinions and feelings of Ben Mears. Mr. Soul was an incredible actor! His delivery of speech was so good. His monologue with Lew Ayers and the Marsten House is one that should be seen and studied by actors who want to get good at their craft. Sam said it best. No other actor has been as convincing as him at believing vampires exist as Mr Soul did! And he was a hero as Hutch to all 70's kids of that decade .
    Rest in Peace Mr Soul.

What a moving tribute.. I’m from north east England and I had 4 very happy years living in the Countryside ( Northumberland) from February 1976 to late 79. David Soul was my icon. I would be fixed to the tv for every episode of Starsky and Hutch .. Oh and btw I love Paul just as much as.. Then came Salems Lot.. Wow !! My favourite all time scary vampire film. So sad David has passed away and I send my good thoughts to all who loved him.

Thank You Very Much for this Memorial Video.
    Rest In Peace David Soul.
The Conversation in this GREAT Video reminds me of the last lines of the 1987 Movie "Radio Days"; Narrator: " I've never forgotten any of those people or any of the voices we would hear on the radio. Though the truth is, with the passing of each New Year, those voices do seem to grow dimmer and dimmer ."

I loved David Soul. He had such a calming speaking voice that compared to no one. I always wanted to see more of him. Starsky & Hutch was too short. I wanted the series to continue. I am so grateful that this RUclips video was made because I too have had the same feelings and thoughts and have always thought I was alone in that; that I thought too much about it. The same past thoughts about the music, characters, and the overall feelings of the movie have been in my heart and mind as well. People who did not grow up in this era can't understand or make this connection.

Thanks for all you guys do in keeping this movie and the talents of this cast alive. I was certainly old enough in the 70's to watch Starsky and Hutch, and enjoy Salem Lot. It was a great era of television. There was so much talent in that movie, that truly any remake in my mind would just be disappointing. Rest in Peace to Mr. Soul and for all the deceased members of the cast. Any chance in doing a zoom with the few remaining cast members?

Great tribute guys. Always remember being in maths class in year 10. The subject was Salems Lot from the night before and we were collectively terrified. Couldn’t believe ‘Hutch’ had taken a role like this. Salems Lot and my first ‘X rated’ film An American Werewolf in London were seminal for me growing up. David was so good in this movie. When you think this film linked contemporary and classical actors (James Mason, Lew Ayres etc) as well as being an absolute horror masterpiece. David simply WAS Ben Mears. RIP David ✝️

Late to find this but i am watching now! Such sad news another loss of one of salems lot 1979 miniseries of the main charecters almost one year to the day lance kerwin passed so sad 😢

Especially hit me hard because salem's lot was the very first David Soul/Lance kerwin movie i ever watched 20 years ago i thought they both were great in it.
My grandmother was a huge David Soul fan as well so by all three of them being gone now it's really like having your heart ripped out of your chest 😢
This will take me a long time to recover from I'm not going to lie.
I just feel bad because he was quite the drinker and smoker not to sound judgemental but it just breaks my heart it really does.
I was actually more impressed by David's singing the covered man and black bean soup are my favorite songs he did ❤❤ he had a incredible voice and I loved him as Joshua Bolt on here comes the brides
I followed him on Twitter for several years losing touch just last year i always wished him a happy birthday and even though he would thank everyone collectively it still made me feel special to know that he took time to read everyone well wishes ❤ so this news definitely hit me hard.
I didn't even know the actor that played Ned tebbits had also passed away in 2006 had no idea i just found out about that today 😢
I use to love to hear my grandmother say "Mr Mears" and she would tease me about the way I typed she would say me and Mr Mears typed at the same level one letter at a time 😂 she was quite a funny lady always had me laughing no matter what I just hope mama and David and the rest of the salem's lot cast are in a happy place now and she finally get to meet her favorite actor

Thanks for the tribute! I don't like gore in movies. This Salem's Lot was scary because of the normalacy of the people until the deaths. David was wonderful in this and I don't like Stephen King, watched this for David, and it is great. I like understated versus in your face.

No need to be sad about a long life lived well. RIP Mr. Soul. I've watched SL 79 a 3x in the last 2 months since hearing the news. I often read reviews and can never relate when people say SL 79 is slow and way too long. Seriously, after 90 minutes i'm looking at the counter "crap, it's going too fast" wishing it was longer. I genuinely feel bad for people who think well constructed narratives that build and use escalating dread are too slow. The way movies are edited and engineered nowadays, with jump scares and super ADD editing have nearly destroyed the art form. Also, when people say movies are "dated." What, you mean they didn't have a time machine wear 2024 styles etc. The cars aren't 2023 models? Yeah, it was 45 years ago, or 60 or 80 or whatever. People that apply presentism in any way shape or form to older movies is utterly baffling to me. As if it's a negative to be counted against the film. Haha, look at me, full blown "get the hellllllll off a my lawn you little Gen Z turd." I kid, for many of the inexplicable things, that are many ways younger generations are much improved compared to X or whichever. It's the areas they aren't that bring out my lawn signage and rantage, forgive youngbloods.
