Can someone explain why many of these high performing often use their sparking so early when they still have all 3 characters? I never see them get any use out of it since the timer is shorter when you have more characters.

They're trying not to lose the 'point war.' Highly skilled players would (usually) rather have both their assists than extra sparking time.

Because in high level play, once you lose your momentum, there's s good chance you won't get it back. That's the nature of fighting games with OTKs.

Using your spark to save your point character is better than saving spark for a potencial 1 v 3 comeback

It's all momentum. It stops you from getting rolled and makes the opponent less aggressive cause they are scared of getting dookied on. Its all to take back control
