I was about to post the same. I remember the classic figure from the late 80's/early 90's having that hook in the backpack, and the grapple gun being sculpted into the backpack rather than a separate weapon.
As a kid, the Alley Viper to me was Cobra's equivalent to an MP. So rather than being "Urban Combat". My Alley Vipers were more defensive units. Patrolling the various facilities of Cobra Island as well as other bases and outposts around the world. Serving as defense units against outside infiltration and assault but also serving as Law Enforcement for the various Cobra Facilities.
If you check the vintage figure, that disk on the backpack is a spool for the grapnel gun. There's a sculpted cord leading down from the hook. I love how they made this an actual removable weapon for the Classified figure. I hope they put these up for preorder soon. I want at least three of them and five or more B.A.Ts.
I like the slight height differences; as people vary in height IRL. As for troop builders for the good guys, I'm hoping for Steel Brigade members to make an appearance.
The Alley Viper has always been one of my favorite designs despite being a neon orange and blue figure. It just works! I can't explain it. As many people have already commented the Classified version has all the same accessories as the original toy. The rifle is supposed to connect to the backpack and the grapple goes in the tip. The original toy had that molded onto the backpack. I wish the ammo clip on the sub-machine gun was on the opposite side - it gets in the way and you kinda need him to hold it funny otherwise. The bulky vest is "fine" but I also HATE losing the articulation underneath. I bought 3 of these guys to make a squad. The load out is on point and details and sculpting are great. Highly recommended.
This guy would be great for repaints/recolors. The black and yellow that came after the original, plus the Pursuit of Cobra black/gray/red would look pretty sweet.
The photo where the Alley Viper is holding down Beachhead with his boot is MONEY. Great review as always, and definitely always worth the wait. Thanks and take care! 😎👍
They could rig up Army builders for the Joes by maybe having 2 or more figures designed to use Mix-and-Match Accessories/Helmets/Vests. Then you have a couple extra heads in different skin tones. (Have figures in full sleeves, gloves and collars so the only skin showing is on the head) Maybe you have Infantry trooper Grunt in green plus a Southeast Asian Head and a Brown Head or a Facepaint Head (in addition to Robert Graves' white head) and a removable gas mask, separate helmet, and removable chest armor. Then you could have Airborne in Tan (full sleeves, gloves, collar) with a removable blue vest and accessories that also work with Grunt and Vice Versa (He's Airborne Infantry, so they could use similar gear). In Addition to Franklin Talltree's Navajo head, he could have a Black Head and a Facepaint head plus a pressurized skydiving mask and separate helmet. So that gives you 16+ unique guys from 2 figures without having to make them completely faceless like Cobra. Or even better, they could sell some of the heads and accessories in a separate pack to reduce wasted plastic, Or have 2 versions of the same figures, one with extra heads and extra stuff, and one with the Base Figures.
You are the first person that has posed this figure in a cool way. Not a single person has put him in a organic stance. Even the Hasbro promotional shots looked like crap but yours look great.
Just snagged one today besides the shin guard and feet position, I couldn’t be happier. I did use some Tamiya weathering powder to make it look battleworn. The cobra armband does not come off though
excellent review, never owned a new line big scale cobra but this one will be my first, i like ur comparison with other brands and the posing photos :)
What's up D? I hope you're doing well. I can't wait to get a few of these, I never had the bule and orange ones as a kid, I ended up with a couple of the black and yellow repaints but loved them all the same✌
It’s a cool character & figure but I never really liked the colors. I’d actually like to see the Night Vipers in the classified line. I think they’d look awesome.
Great review 👍 , they went all out for this character - the articulation/design/accesories (like an ultimate edition) - always a blessing when toy companies do tat to a popular character, rather than many variants with bits n pcs (very little) of different accessories here n there -> resulting in some worthy figures n parts but many fodders in between.
Nice review again Sir D ! As a collector of 80'/90's Joes the Alley Viper was my ALL TIME Favourite GI Joe figure, bar none ! Just the fact they wore bright orange into battle proves they had real b@lls, or were suicidal ... or both, which made them perfect Elite Troopers to "shock" the enemy into a retreat. I hope to secure at LEAST 6 of these .... for a start ! I hope Hasbro has the brains to sell FULL case packs of these ... their sales numbers will outshine Hot Cakes !
I was actually going to try my hand at customizing an Alley Viper until the Classified Series was announced. I was hoping we’d get the orange and blue version. I finally got mine today after trying to find it for months. Imo he’s worth the wait.
I don’t know what Sanity Train 🚂 drove through Hasbro. But the new classified are fire 🔥. Not one golden soccer ⚽️ shin gaurd either. Looks just like the OG.
That’s a damn good idea D, a python patrol alley viper! That’s gonna be cool as all hell if they actually make it. If so they better pay you a royalty on that one because it’s something that I didn’t even think of until you said something!
This is the best army builder so far next to the BAT. With all of his removable pieces each Alie Viper can be unique. One can hold the SMG another can hold the assult rifle and the last one can hold the pistol and shield or the grappling gun. That removable sheath on his forearm is awsome because you can have some figures with it or without it. The removable parts are so well thought out. That shield is prolly the best 1/12 scale shield that I own. Then again I dont own many action figures with shields. The only thing that is sad about this guy is that he didnt come with a big bladed weapon to go with that shield. No worries though, because his friends Red Ninjas have him covered with all the bladed weapons he could ever want. lol O you forgot the army builder "Red Ninja" so that's 5 army builders then crimson guard was announced so now 6 army builders. But wait... the Blue Ninja was announced so 7 army builders now. Unless you count repaints as additional armies so with a little recalculation we get... -dont forget cobra officer = 8- so after repaints n' stuff we get: 11 counting Cobra Trooper as diffrent. Retro Crimson Guard as diffrent. Amazon Viper's as diffrent. ... then you consider the Hisstank crew from Haslab and that is 12 army builders. A dozen! How many do the Joes have... well if you pretend that snake-eyes is a "black ninja" then maybe one? thanks for the bideo mate really helped out. :)
I can't stand the shin/ kick-pads they continue to put on like 90% of these CLASSIFIED's.. WtF!? Yet Alley Viper 2.0 is A Must buy! I'll never forget as A Kid watching Alley Viper rescue Cobra Commander after he transformed into an actual Snake in the _Operation DragonFire_ animated miniseries. Than the next week being at TARGET & seeing him on the pegs. For $3 (back than), why didn't I buy 3 & leave one carded under the bed in A shoe box !! He was that dope, to me anyway. Waaaay back than.
nice review bro very fitting background, Joker ; lots of space! alley vipers only had one in 80s, already had lots of troops by then, I d have been more tempted dark blue camo, or light - dark grey as Firefly to camouflage, however, the Cobra tactic here is visual shock! ; get into your house! NOW!! rest there until further instructions! YOU HEAR!!! it keeps residents terrorised to obey, a few casualties does an efficient impression on them fast deploying bats afterwards does nothing to inspire any kind of courage remaining, at the camp are snakes, officers dispatch vipers and troops to gather them for brainwash afterwards so yeah, they re on to something with this game, it s sound finances don t allow them for now, maybe used equipment they re well equipped, the backpack storage is excellence of course, the shield is the key piece of this trooper type, as, in inclination, one can totally avoid any fire in formation, you could have a human light tank comparisons naturals, as expected Joe army builders will now have official army support with the 60th anniversary fig ; you asked for back up? wow, I love Zartan with the skull face.... great stuff! scenes I could not help showing some alley vipers intimidating civilians if I did this, and punishing with Joes afterwards, D psa Hawk ; wandering naked outside will not make you pop kids! you ll be shamed at the hospital after the ambulance ride!!! so now you know... good show bro
Love the gi joe classified line. Only wish they would stop with the left handed gun hand and hand swivel only on the left hand for movement with that said gun. It’s ok for maybe a few being left handed but not all em, most people in real world are rt handed. And sure joes can shoot with both hands
As someone that grew up a NY Mets fan, I fully endorse these guys storming the statue of liberty (the 80s movie was lucky these guys weren't a part of that intro's assault 😉)
8:35 that is an AK47 of some sort. There's literally dozens of versions of the ak! I can't even begin to guess which version that is. But it's definitely an AK47.
Really wanted to like this. But the lack of a fully removable helmet, and the fact they have essentially replicated the original design without even the slightest hint of a modernisation has put me off. I may still buy a repaint in a more urban camo scheme. I have every single modern era 1/18 version and much prefer the non-halloween paintjobs.
The gun that fits on the backpack is a grapple gun and the circular thing on the backpack is the grapple line reel.
I was about to post the same. I remember the classic figure from the late 80's/early 90's having that hook in the backpack, and the grapple gun being sculpted into the backpack rather than a separate weapon.
I actually really love these colors because it's like they all want smoke instead of being regularly hidden/camouflaged like the others
For those who dont like the orange its explosive camo..and leave more for me...
I don’t even collect 1/12 scale figures, but I love your descriptions and especially your posing skills! The constant cats are an added bonus 👍
I hooe they do another version in black and yellow. I also hope they release a version with the Cobra logo shield.
I had the figure in the 80s as a child, I love that they are bringing them back.
I like the slight height differences; as people vary in height IRL. As for troop builders for the good guys, I'm hoping for Steel Brigade members to make an appearance.
There are Steel Brigade Troopers coming from Valaverse's Action Force line this month. I'm assuming that Hasbro let the license on the name lapse.
@@Dillon75 According to Bobby Vala they did.
The wait for this video was killing me but was worth it! Thanks! You can’t rush perfection!
I really want a Sci-Fi or Lowlight in this line!

Don't forget the blue and black like they were in Resolute.
A Classified version of the Pursuit of Cobra Jungle Viper would be so sick. To this day, that is one of my favorite GI Joe figures.
@@planetschlock That would be pretty sweet, I imagine with the fold-up armor/canopy they'd probably try and release those as a deluxe type figure
The photo where the Alley Viper is holding down Beachhead with his boot is MONEY. Great review as always, and definitely always worth the wait. Thanks and take care! 😎👍
this dude is looking so fresh. This has always been my most anticipated next to the first Snake Eyes. Great review as always, man!
Great review as usual. Love that last shot of just grunts hanging out.
B.A.T.s and Vipers just showed up at my Target today! I was so excited to find them in the wild! Lol!

A first-rate review of Alley Viper and his awesome accessories! Moreover, the photos are super cool!
Your outro shots are always so good! Great review as always. I'm even more hyped than I was before lol.
5 troop builders btw. Red Ninja !
Damn i did forget ninja
Another home run on the army builders. Love some of your kit bashes, I’m itching to give that a try.
Great job on the review. At least we now know what to expect out of the Alley Viper. Thanks!
So glad they're bringing this back. This was my favorite figure growing up. Next in line was Headhunter
You really are amazing 😜. Thank for the nice reviews and pictures!
You are the best at posing figures dude, love your reviews!
I will totally buy a realistic urban camo repaint of this (as well).
You are the first person that has posed this figure in a cool way. Not a single person has put him in a organic stance. Even the Hasbro promotional shots looked like crap but yours look great.
D doing what he does best.
Just snagged one today besides the shin guard and feet position, I couldn’t be happier. I did use some Tamiya weathering powder to make it look battleworn. The cobra armband does not come off though
This a dope figure. Can’t wait to have em in hand. Great review 👍🏾
Great video D ! Can't wait to get this ally viper
excellent review, never owned a new line big scale cobra but this one will be my first, i like ur comparison with other brands and the posing photos :)
Entertainment Earth has BATS and Alley Vipers up for Pre-order!!! 12/01/21!!!!
What's up D? I hope you're doing well. I can't wait to get a few of these, I never had the bule and orange ones as a kid, I ended up with a couple of the black and yellow repaints but loved them all the same✌
Fun as always D! Thanks!
Amazing looking figure, hope we can get our hands on them. Great review
Very cool. Can't wait for preorders.
Lucky…. I need 4 of these.
It’s a cool character & figure but I never really liked the colors. I’d actually like to see the Night Vipers in the classified line. I think they’d look awesome.
My Villain Wishlist:
Crimson Guard Zandar
Cobra Eels. Zaranna
Tele-Vipers. Serpentor
Iron Grenadiers. Road Pig
Hasbro is going to make a lot of money with those. Shut up and take my money!

I need 10 ASAP!!!! 💥💥💥💥💥
Great review! I love Alley Vipers!
You lucky SOB. Congrats I can't wait to get him and the bat whenever they release
Great figure! Great video! I gotta get a few of these. Alley Viper is for the streets for real 😂
I was actually going to try my hand at customizing an Alley Viper until the Classified Series was announced.
I was hoping we’d get the orange and blue version.
I finally got mine today after trying to find it for months.
Imo he’s worth the wait.
really look forward to these guys, Hasbro is just killing with the cobra stuff.
Great review and you got them early many waiting still, be cool do side by side review with the retro 3.75. Love your videos new sub here
Damn you're lucky to have these early!
Great review brother looks like a tactical AK
I don’t know what Sanity Train 🚂 drove through Hasbro. But the new classified are fire 🔥. Not one golden soccer ⚽️ shin gaurd either. Looks just like the OG.

I have to get some rit dye on this guy though I did it to a small original alley viper and it looked cool.
Man can you imagine a classified grenadier, with the big rifle and the minigun
Can't wait to get one! Or four! :)
The articulation is insane
Great looking fig but man the outro music! Feels like toonami or ninja tunes. Very cool.
Perfect camo for the Denver Broncos tailgate party!
Great review my friend
I look forward to never finding this at Target and walking away disappointed.
MAIN LINE same for the BAT
This will be an awesome figure when we get them in 2023!
I managed to order 2 of these and 2 B.A.Ts the other day. Got lucky.
I really hope they make a Storm Shadow with the grey stripes.
I love all the different styles of weapons the Cobras come with, they just scream M.A.R.S industries.
I had twenty of these when i was a kid

Hasbro is making a Striker, but what about the Quinjet or the X-MEN's blackbird
I can't stand the shin/ kick-pads they continue to put on like 90% of these CLASSIFIED's.. WtF!?

Good thorough review. The pronunciation for grenadier is gren-a-deer.
Great vid
5 troop builders if you count the red ninja since they have the cobra logo on their forehead protectors
Very nice figure. I appreciate your videos!
nice review bro
very fitting background, Joker ; lots of space!
alley vipers
only had one in 80s, already had lots of troops by then,

it keeps residents terrorised to obey, a few casualties does an efficient impression on them fast
deploying bats afterwards does nothing to inspire any kind of courage remaining,
at the camp are snakes, officers dispatch vipers and troops to gather them for brainwash afterwards
so yeah, they re on to something with this game, it s sound
finances don t allow them for now, maybe used
equipment
they re well equipped, the backpack storage is excellence
of course, the shield is the key piece of this trooper type, as, in inclination, one can totally avoid any fire
in formation, you could have a human light tank
comparisons
naturals, as expected
Joe army builders will now have official army support with the 60th anniversary fig
; you asked for back up?
wow, I love Zartan with the skull face....
great stuff!
scenes
I could not help showing some alley vipers intimidating civilians if I did this,
and punishing with Joes afterwards, D
psa
Hawk ; wandering naked outside will not make you pop kids! you ll be shamed at the hospital after the ambulance ride!!!
so now you know...
good show bro
Just ordered mine. But sort of bothers me the shield is all wrong. Missing a couple of spikes & the huge logo
Love the gi joe classified line. Only wish they would stop with the left handed gun hand and hand swivel only on the left hand for movement with that said gun. It’s ok for maybe a few being left handed but not all em, most people in real world are rt handed. And sure joes can shoot with both hands
Give them different hands and make them main line and only main line releases
Yo bro I really want this figure now.
Question who would you say is Stronger roadblock or Heavy Duty?
🔥🔥🔥🔥
❤️
Honestly I think Fireflys IED vest would work better on the Alley Viper
You definitely getting a west coast baconeggandcheese for this one 😡😂😂😂
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
color me jealous. hes beautiful.
the rifle the goes on the backpack is his grappling gun
The face plate kinda looks like staro
The assault rifle is fictitious, but clearly inspired by the AK series.
Whoa, whoa, whoa!!!! How the fuck you GET YOUR hands on one of these???!!! I calls shenanigans on this one!!!!!!
Walmart had pre orders and people got him and the bat early
Don’t push your self
As someone that grew up a NY Mets fan, I fully endorse these guys storming the statue of liberty (the 80s movie was lucky these guys weren't a part of that intro's assault 😉)

Straight out of childhood! I expect hasbro to completely drop the ball and not fulfill the demand for this beloved fig!
When we getting a mezco cuzin eddi review
When he wants to do it.
His weapon is a Galil ace.
Really wanted to like this. You forgot about the cobra ninjas
Already been posted
What up
The carbine looks like a heavily modified AK-12. I hope someone can identify it.
COBRA!!!!
