    Yes Brutha!!
    I made one yrs ago and still find it the best..
    Took a few modifications the last being a shorter round nose so it punches a nice deep hole with my foot on the rear ..if its pointed it just grabs and flexes..
    Cyclone one piece..
    Punch a hole in the sand, check the hole then check the shovel..
    so good!
    I haven't bent it at all..there perfect 👌

      It was fun experimenting with it. There’s a “part 2” for this scoop where I get a little crazier with it. Link below. Thanks for watching!

    I made one years ago. I use it as my backup just in case my scoop breaks while detecting. I can get it from the car. Great work!

    I first saw this type of modified shovel on the Goldfinders channel by Frederick Barnes also from Australia. He did a video on his method of modifying one about 7 years ago called How to make the original Plastic shovel & sieve.
    And his son Darin could really work it fast in the wet sand of the Australian beaches but I always wondered if it could cut down into the wet sand beaches of the east coast here in the US. Seemed the beaches there that they were digging didn’t have the hard packed and shell filled areas like what I many times encounter.

      @GreggsTreasures  Год назад

      It doesn’t work well in the wet, but amazing in the dry. I first saw a similar one used by Michael Oliver in his videos. He digs in the wet sand with it, but seems like he’s cautious when using it in the wet.

      There was a fellow Michael Oliver who made on about 7 years ago as well.

      That’s where I initially saw it and wanted to do my own version. His was a green one, and seems really strong

      @@GreggsTreasures There isn't a thing wrong with yours. As a matter of fact I already have made one but I do like your design better. I think I will copy it.

    The Australia Barns boys(father & son) I think they left their handle just straight. You could also use a U clamp to put a piece of flat metal on the back for a straight foot hold. I know If I ever plan to go to the beach somewhere... I'll make 1 of these first. The Aussie Boys... they just notched the plastic about 5 or 6 inches both sides of the handle... which will grip any kind of beach shoe you might wear..... but you couldn't be barefooted if you did that.

  • @WilliamR-nt5ek
    @WilliamR-nt5ek 3 года назад

    A couple Australia guys... have these types of scoops you should check out their channels....
    Fredrick Barns and Darren Barns ... on dry sand they get it in the scoop and check it pulling it back a little like you do... then they dump it and spread it with their foot until they see it.

    Can’t imagine a plastic handle would holdup very well !

    • @GreggsTreasures
      @GreggsTreasures  Год назад

      Since the handle is one with the rest of the scoop and it’s not hollow, it works well. This scoop is for dry sand with shallow targets. It works really well

    I have two different bullet heaters they look kind of like a torpedo solar powered by diesel kerosene and some use propane but they literally shoot a hot flame out of one end and if you gauge your distance it will heat up the poly shovel very quickly and shape it anyway you want to.

    I like the design and the wide scoop area however the time you used to clear the sand to retrieve your target is excessive where spreading the pile out a retargeting your find and re scooping it up with a tenth of the sand would be quicker. Just saying
