- “Golden Bachelor” Gerry Turner and wife Theresa Nist are getting a divorce. The couple made the announcement Friday on Good Morning America just 3 months after tying the knot in a televised wedding. “We've looked closely at our situation, our living situation and so forth. And and we've kind of come to the conclusion mutually, that it's probably time for us to, dissolve our marriage,” said Turner in the interview.

Exactly. This isn't 8th grade when a guy gives his ring to a girl to go steady for a while and then break up!! We are now finding out that Theresa found out Gerry is a liar and a cad... and broke! She realized that she would have been the breadwinner at 72 years old! I think Gerry could even be sued by ABC/Disney. His gigantic lie was that he kept telling producers & the contestants that he hadn't dated anyone or even kissed a gal since his wife died (with tears in his eyes!), including Theresa in the diner on their first date, remember? Well - he actually had a girlfriend who has come forward to reveal that she and Gerry dated for 4 1/2 years after his wife died and that he dropped her like a hot potato when his bid for Bachelor came through (which she wasn't aware he had submitted himself to)!
Theresa has a big, beautiful home in a very expensive suburb in the NY/NJ area (I know because I used to live near her home). Since her husband died, she has studied to acquire 12 certificates to build her securities business and is highly successful. Why would she stick it out with a guy who doesn't have any income, who is living in a cabin in rural Indiana, and who has lied to her?! Plus, he has been seen with Leslie again! A midwestern gal from Mpls. who would feel a lot more comfortable living in a small cabin on a lake, which is something that Gerry should have figured out. I remember Gerry suddenly changing his mind to pick Theresa when he found out about her career as a securities broker in the fantasy suite. I think he looked at her as a meal ticket. Saying that...Theresa should have realized it wasn't going to work.
Theresa had to cut and run. The whole thing was a waste of time for the entire production, all the lady contestants who spent a fortune to come to LA to be on the show, and for those of us who bought Gerry's whole dorky, hometown lie! Many of us are Gerry & Theresa's age who tuned into Bachelor Nation for the first time in 20 years to see people our own age find love. Now, us gals are back to thinking all guys are idiots, even at 73 years old!
What a surprise. Not. These shows need to stop desecrat!ng the institution of marriage. Just end the show with a promise ring.
Are contestants looking for love or fame?…Are producers helping contestants find love or are they looking for ratings by any means? The success rate is very low for a reason.
Marriage isn't for everyone.

@leticiamacias5481 Same I don't watch it at all the only one I've ever watched was bachelor in paradise one of it season not all because there was one person in it I liked she ended up committing suicide, she was such a nice ,beautiful woman.

Theresa rushed into marrying him. I think they started planning a wedding and the closer it got , she started realizing that he wasn’t who she thought he was. But, since the wedding was already in the works, she just went on with it. She thought at first that he was a real catch, then realized better. Older people can make bigger mistakes than younger sometimes. Marrying someone to just fix loneliness is never right.
I don’t think they really looked for another house. When did they do that?? They didn’t even go on a honeymoon, and have lived apart since their fake marriage. They were never IN LOVE.

Days of our lives. A joke.
'Grandma' on hers and her granddaughter's podcast -' said she felt they were going to split in a year or so.... but NOT in just 3 months. Grandma demised that because Theresa is a very successful businesswoman in securities out east with a big family and an expensive, beautiful home has possibly found herself disappointed in Gerry after she got to know him... AND that Gerry has been seen with Leslie from Mpls (which is a more midwestern town closer to him than NJ). This whole thing is stupid! I'm very disappointed in both of THEM! They are acting like idiotic teenagers... costing the show and all those bachelorettes 100's of thousands of dollars on the show, their outfits, the wedding, the ring (which they have to return by contract), etc. Gawd!!! This isn't an 8th crush... love 'em and leave 'em kind of thing... this is a huge deal that has turned out to be such a letdown for the whole country.
Well... Here's my take on what is starting to reveal itself. Gerry is a small-town guy who is retired after selling his drive-in/diner - living a simple, quiet life in a cabin by a lake in rural Indiana. Hardly the atmosphere of the NY area that Theresa is used to. She has a big, beautiful home in a very expensive upscale suburb in NJ (I used to live there, so I know) and she has a high-powered career she doesn't want to leave after attaining 12 certificates to build her securities business. And... she doesn't want to leave her close-knit family & business. Gerry on the other hand, is a bit of a dorky hick with no income in site... who doesn't feel comfortable out east. Although... as it turns out, he does feel comfortable in Mpls. with a more down-home midwestern gal like Leslie who he has been seeing lately!
And then there's the huge lie that Gerry told the Bachelor Nation producers and all the candidates on the Golden Bachelor show... that Theresa learned about AFTER they got married! Gerry adamantly proclaimed that he hadn't dated or even kissed anyone since his wife died, remember? Well... it actually turns out that he was dating a woman for 4 1/2 years whom Gerry dropped like a hot potato when his bid for Bachelor finally came through. She has come forward to tell all of us that Gerry is a big fat liar and a cad!
It is so ridiculous, sad, and embarrassing for Theresa. I have to say, Theresa was a lot more gracious than I would have been. I am the same age as Gerry, and it gave a lot of us baby boomer 'golden aged' gals hope that we still have a chance to meet a partner. This whole fiasco feels like all the air has been let out of our 'balloon of hope'!
