- Recap of the first season of Slow Horses.
Premise: After a botched and publicly embarrassing training mission, British MI5 officer River Cartwright is exiled to Slough House, an administrative purgatory for service rejects. Known as "Slow Horses", Cartwright and his colleagues must endure dull, paper pushing tasks and their miserable boss, Jackson Lamb, who expects them to quit out of boredom and frustration. Life in Slough House is defined by drudgery, until the Slow Horses become entangled in a dangerous gambit by Regent's Park. (Source: Wikipedia)

The gotcha moment when it was revealed the meanest Albion member in the house was actually the mole all along was wild
I almost fell off my chair laughing when the members of sons of Albion comprises of 3 stooges 😂
In the book in case you’re interested it was Hassan that gave them their names. Because he didn’t know who they were
Cheers for the recap 👍 I'm now ready to watch season 2!
Actually Cartwright got the description of the “suicide bomber” right and Webb just didn’t want to admit he botched the description
Did anyone else catch on the thing that when the Son of Albion is taking the hostage to the castle not only is it a folly and not a real castle but he describes it as "a Norman castle, as English as England gets", but he is totally oblivious to the fact that Normans were literally the people who came from overseas to conquer England by force?
Thanks for the video, it was needed to sort it all out 😂
Slough, as in Slough House rhymes with "how" - as in the UK town of Slough.
Thanks for that clarification. Many North Americans might have trouble with the UK/British accent. Both in terms of listening comprehension and pronunication.
Personally, I had to turn on the subtitles, because I missed about 10% of what they were saying. They spoke very quickly and used some UK/British slang that I'm unfamiliar with.
I think this quality of this show is phenomenal. Gary Oldman is brilliant as always. Great storytelling, excellent plot and a wonderful cast.
Yes, 'how' rather than 'slaw' as in the second syllable of 'coleslaw'
also - 'Struan' is stroo-an, not strawn
Started reading the book - gave up, got bored
@@paulheydarian1281 I love that it has all been kept British. So many programmes are made to cater to a US audience, which is so patronising. If Brits can understand that there are different accents, cultures, idioms, habits, etc in the USA, surely Americans can do the same in reverse. I had to give up watching Sex Education because it was supposedly set in Britain but was **so** American in how the high school was portrayed it gave me nauseating dissonance.
Thanks needed this recap! Much appreciated
Gary Oldman = One of the best actors of his generation. I hope he lives long enough to make another couole of seasons. Although I imagine his role could get phased out.
There are 8 books and 3 short novels. Each season is a book...Plenty of seasosn yet. The books are excellent and the tv series follows them accurately.
Lamb is the central character. If he was phased out the whole flavour of the show would change for the worse.
what are u talking about? he's barely 65.
@@akirarishi9247 Yeah, well he certainly looks it. 😉😏
@@paulheydarian1281 he looks it in the show. he s an actor :)
Just finished book 1, about to start the show. It's eerie how well Oldman does Lamb.
i thought this show was cancelled 🙈... happy it didn't....thx for the recap🤙
Slaw House? I was convinced it was Slough House.
if it does not win Baftas then it is a crime
I need to watch this.. I have been delivering the props for this show to the studio it has been filmed at. I might see some of the things I have taken down for them. I wish II could have bumped into Garry Oldman. I probably bumped into him and never realised -__- lol.
That is really awesome! Where was the filming done?
Main reason i would watch: GARY OLDMAN
Yes, becuz as he said, the rest of them are a useless lot.🤔😜🤪
Partner wasn’t Standish’s husband, he was her boss.
You are absolutely right. Thank you for pointing it out.
@@BingeBot I realise actually that we weren't fed that straight in S1.
Cheers 🥂 excellent recap , thnx
I agree...he should have been in Oppenheimer...
Just loved this web series 👍👍🌺
BingeBot over here yelling through the entire recap, yeesh.
Very helpful video, thank you!
Come friendly bombs and fall on Slough.
It isn't fit for humans now !
John Betchamin, poet laureate.
Did Cartwright actually misconstrue Webb's description? I thought not.
thanks for this man!
Bad boy recap!
It is not what I expected. A lot of gunplay and killing for no reason at all. But as long as they keep the murderous mayhem confined to their own and don't involve any civilians I guess it's OK.
Read the books by Mick Herron! they are brilliant. i have all the John Le Carre books about spies, these are differnt, modern but just as twisty turny!
Reading Slow Horses ATM...laugh out loud in places. Love these characters & I've enjoyed J le C & F Forsythe. Looking forward to the next one. Haven't been able to watch the drama as I don't have the station. Hoping it will arrive on RUclips...somehow!
Take a bit of time listening to the show say the word 'Slough'.
Charles was Standish's boss, not her husband.
How the hell are you pronouncing Slough?
Was it explained why Partner was killed?
It was explained in Series 2.
@@HartatySirait_hidamari Yup, just finished Series 2 and learned the why of Partner's killing. Guess they were pretty much pushing folks to watch the continued series, otherwise, you may scratch your head in a couple of parts.
👍!!!!
Ohhh boy. Slough House is pronounced sl-Ow. Like: Ow! I've hurt my finger,
Is Sid really dead ?
No
I can't remember of any right wing of terrorists kidnapping immigrants but can remember of various immigrants committing terrorism and evil. The problem is that this is not realistic
Buts its great fun! With such excellent charaters😅
@@dharding5510 everything that doesn't fit espionage
such an odd show......so little plot.
Who come here after seeing Neymar jr Instagram 😂
Its a REAL shame that this show is yet another touting the left wing agenda that if you in any way proud of your country and it's traditions and want to preserve it, your a "racist" i see this native being spread in movies, books, video games ( eg watch dogs 3) etc ec, it's sickening that we cannot just enjoy a show, movie, book or game without having this left wing rhetoric being forced down our throats 😕
How is it these fans of Englishness are so bad writing the Queen’s?
you are bang on i switched it off after episode one.
If you pay close attention, those depicted as racists here do a tiny bit more than just being proud of their country. And if you think kidnapping and beheading an innocent is just "being proud", you need serious help.
