Not that the demo singers are bad or anything but RV has this touch that turns the demo into a RV song, some sort of quality that makes me want to listen. Rookie is already not a favourite of mine but RV made it tolerable (loved the bassline too), listening to the demo reminded me of everything I hated about the song. I think a lot of people are downplaying the amount of effort the Colleagues put into this to make this track amazing. Im a Reveluv but its really clear that what carried this track was not much the vocals but rather the production, which is lauded by many critics and musicians for how crisp and unique it is (despite the quirky lyrics). Of course it goes without saying that RV’s vocals absolutely killed it and their approach to the song vocally definitely added more depth to the track. But honestly the true stars of this song for me are the producers who put in so much thought into the insane instrumental. Well done, Colleagues and Red Velvet!

[Also to everyone b**ching about this demo, you should realise that demos aren't always meant to be listened to in the same way as the final track. But, who do you think was in the studio guiding them and who rewrote the track in to a style that would fit Red Velvet? The musicians over at SM. Man what's up with all of you!! This version is INCREDIBLE! It's so distinctive and different than the Red Velvet version, even though not that much was changed composition-wise. The vocalist has such a unique voice and it perfectly fits the song. It's SO 2010s in the best way possible, and timeless at the same time. Such an addicting song. I think a lot of people are downplaying the amount of effort the Colleagues put into this to make this track amazing. Im a Reveluv but its really clear that what carried this track was not much the vocals but rather the production, which is lauded by many critics and musicians for how crisp and unique it is (despite the quirky lyrics).
Of course it goes without saying that RV’s vocals absolutely killed it and their approach to the song vocally definitely added more depth to the track. But honestly the true stars of this song for me are the producers who put in so much thought into the insane instrumental. Well done, Colleagues and Red Velvet!

The topline for this song is so well written! Its so fun and playful, and translated really well over to the Korean rewrite. The instrumental is also top-notch, that baseline and brass make the song. Those aren't virtual instruments right? But an actual live band instead? If I'm not mistaken.
Thanks so much to everyone to worked on this track! Great job all around, one of my favourite Red Velvet tracks.
[Also to everyone b**ching about this demo, you should realise that demos aren't always meant to be listened to in the same way as the final track. It's meant to give off a vibe, so the client (SM Ent in this case) can get a feel for what the final product could sound once they rewrite in Korean and rearrange (if necessary). Not to mention that English lyrics written for K-Pop aren't supposed to be spectacular because like I said- they are rewritten in Korean anyway. The lyrics are purely there to give ideas and structure a clear top line for the instrumental.]
And it's pretty rude to shade the demo version, especially under the official channel of the producers. As a Reveluv we should be thanking The Colleagues for creating this track, and appreciating their work. SM or Red Velvet didn't create this song, the producers did, and without them we wouldn't even have Rookie.

Ikrrr, and sometimes the demo lyrics might not make sense, but the point is to give the final owner of the song the idea of how the flow and beat is. The demo is used to direct how the song should sound like.

But, who do you think was in the studio guiding them and who rewrote the track in to a style that would fit Red Velvet? The musicians over at SM. Red Velvet completed the track, but it would've been impossible without the steps that came before hand.
