Nick, thank you for your video's! My 11yr old daughter and I REALLY love watching your videos together. The videos are clean and thank you for not cussing like an old salty fisherman. She is my fishing partner and hope's one day to catch a monster of the deep. Keep up the good work
The underwater gopro footage was amazing! I'd definitely like to see something like that again. That big head carp definitely counts as a spillway monster. Cheers
My 100 year old grandfather who recently passed loved catfishing. My mist cherished memories are going fishing with him. I still remember how his 77 F150 smelled. Get out there with your kids and grandkids as much as possible. Those memories you make will be the most valuable things they’ll ever have.
Hopefully one of these times I can see you out there. They used to block the whole river off right before the creek branches into it down the bank a little bit. There is actually a wall about where the hand rails end about 3 feet off the bottom. But just as your underwater footage shows it's primarily where the big head like to hang out. Occasionally you will see a school of silvers pushes up in there aswell.
A lot more crowded than I imagined down there...there's a couple spillway near me, one I brought in 12" yellow bullhead (released) and would never of thought of fishing it on the AG side with out finding your videos.
I love underwater videos. It's always nice to see the fish in their own environment without having to pull them up every time to get a look at em. Plus, it gives you insight and helps you increase your chances of success in the future. I'd love an underwater strike video, too, at some point. If you could manage to pull that off without too much hassle on your end, that would be an awesome video for your channel
Hey Nick! Do you know the Marling Baits channel? On his podcast episode this week, he said if he could go fishing with any RUclipsr, it would be 618. 🤩 You guys should totally do a collab!
Hell yeah! More GoPro footage, please!! Would be great to drop down on occasions where you were not able to get any bites. That way you can see if it was just bad luck or, truly nothing there
That footage was pretty cool brother!! That’s a heck of a fish on lite tackle no matter what species. Keep the sic camera work coming and stay well bro
That was one of my grandfather's fishing holes. I have fished there once or twice a year for the past 30 years. Last year I snagged my very 1st paddle fish there. I take 4 generations of my family and we fish there Father's day weekend... Tight lines my friend
Thank you for changing up the template of the episodes a bit lately. It was reminiscent of a few years back when every episode was different from its neighbors
I think the go pro is a great idea and you should do it more and maybe at other locations well at least other spill ways. Nice catch but nice camera catches under water! Well Nick have a great and safe weekend and see you next adventure! Take care dude!
WHY HAVEN'T YOU DONE THIS BEFORE!!!??? This year you need to do this on each trip at each different spillway. Also you should put marks on your string every 6 inches to give us a idea of the depth of the water. Awesome video man, thanks.
Tie the camera about a foot or two from the hook and see if u can catch the inspection bite and catch all while viewing the fish. Another idea is secure a lead weight a few feet below the camera so when its on the bottom the camera will be in a great depth to view the fish insead the bottom of the waterway. None the less, a neat video and i do hope you do another!
Great vid! Tried the same with my GoPro while ice-fishing a few years back. Had the same initial problem with the camera spinning and ended up using a pole (cut down a tall sapling at the shore). It looked real crude but worked perfectly (just remember to keep the string attached, as a safety, in case the camera gets knocked off the pole!) I also ended up using a divers flashlight after a few tries with a watertight one and as I recall, the difference between the two light sources was huge. It’s always a blast seeing underwater footage of the places you fish 👍🏻 Thanks!
Nick! What's going on man! That was some really cool footage you got wIth your GoPro those were some big buffaloes and carp down there man! That channel cat was cool too! But that 18 lb big head carp you landed was banging! Great episode man I loved it keep on getting down!
You got a shout-out in one of the latest Marling Baits episodes! Would be awesome to see you guys get together and catch some fish this summer👍 Marling Baits/618 lure challenge???
It'd be nice to see that come springtime again use the video and once the water has been cleaned up a little bit more and see what's in there. Especially when it comes spawning time with the fish...nice Job 👍👍
nice footage. just a suggestion, I see a few angler gopro videos of underwater fish and they tie it to their fishing rod. it allows them to reel it in faster and move it better.
I indeed like to see more underwater go pro footage and maybe 618 Fishing you might want to think about getting a stronger waterproof flashlight with a bigger battery.
Next time you use your go pro underwater make a long pole to attach it to with some weight on the bottom of it to keep it study, like 5 or more pounds of weight so the current doesn't move it much and add more light. 👍
Maybe try to rig the camera like the cannon ball on a downrigger so you can attach your bait from your rod in view of the camera. that way we can watch the fish take the bait and it will release from the camera at that point.
May 19th 2022 in your video you thought you had caught a small mouth and then you thought it was a spot... But it was a shoal Bass...that thing swam all the way from the Apalachicola river, down in the Florida - Georgia - Alabama area, wow, really nice catch Nick!!!!!
Nice! You are the perfect guy to do the underwater filming with your editing skills! Another cool flavor to add to your already awesome channel! Maybe one day you can invest in an underwater drone or some other fun camera equipment!
I'm amazed that night crawlers were unable to bag a fish out of that spillway. I've given up trying to understand why, what and when fish eat. I assumed that you would pull out 5 more before the others got suspicious. Keep up the videos!
Looks like my typical style of fishing, with a few changes... I throw my phone in a zip lock or 2, keep it aired up with chunks of pool noodle, turn the phone flashlight and video on, and toss it in. Method of retrieval is a butterfly net on a long dowel rod.
You should do this for every spillway. I love seeing what's down there.
Definitely would love more GoPro stuff. Trying it at some of your other spots would be quiet interesting.
Quite*
Agreed, GoPro is good to go 👍
Lake of giants would be good to see underwater.
Nick, thank you for your video's!
My 11yr old daughter and I REALLY love watching your videos together. The videos are clean and thank you for not cussing like an old salty fisherman.
She is my fishing partner and hope's one day to catch a monster of the deep.
Keep up the good work
Your comment made me smile! Keep up that quality time with your daughter. Sending big fish energy your way
The underwater gopro footage was amazing! I'd definitely like to see something like that again. That big head carp definitely counts as a spillway monster. Cheers
Very cool. I’m 73 and don’t get out fishing to much any more but love watching your videos. Keep up your adventures ways as life MF as you can.
Keep up your adventures as long as you can.

Where is this at? Illinois or Missouri??
@@abiglover63 I'm pretty sure it's Illinois, but I'd like to know exactly where. It seems like a good fishing spot.
It's in Illinois. Not many catfish in this part of the spillway but it's always full of carp year round.
I fish out there occasionally as well unfortunately the water turned over there lots of dead shad
Be cautious Nick, Today: GoPro in a spillway - Tomorrow: Mini Sub in Loch Ness 🤣 Rock on 618 Fishing 🤘😎
A lot more crowded than I imagined down there...there's a couple spillway near me, one I brought in 12" yellow bullhead (released) and would never of thought of fishing it on the AG side with out finding your videos.
Yes, I would love more of this. Really enjoyed it.
Nick is without a shadow of a doubt in the absolute top echelon of fishing content creators on youtube. There's just not a doubt in my mind
Daniel Wijers?

Oh yeah definitely do this again very informational and cool to just get an image of what’s down there
That footage was pretty cool brother!! That’s a heck of a fish on lite tackle no matter what species. Keep the sic camera work coming and stay well bro

Nick, look in to a Deeper smart sonar to map out that spillway to find the best place for cat fish.
Yes, more GoPro exploration! Do the various carps/buffalo eat juvenile (larger?) catfish?
Someone watched MacGyver as a kid! As always brother, love the content and your videos make me strive to be better with my filming and editing!
Interesting to see what it looks like down there! One of the most productive spillways!
I think the go pro is a great idea and you should do it more and maybe at other locations well at least other spill ways. Nice catch but nice camera catches under water! Well Nick have a great and safe weekend and see you next adventure! Take care dude!

Try this GoPro at the pond of giants please :) Thanks for this nice footage!! Great stuff, as always!
The content you put up is great, but I'm probably not the only viewer that misses when you used to fish tiny streams and puddles.
I'm glad you stuck a camera down there. I've wanted to do that for years. Great video, Nick! Thanks!
I think the gopro drop was cool. To bad you only got one fish, however your video title could be I got skunked and I would watch. Great video Nick.
For the under water footage, you need a extension pole for the camera
I was getting worried my 618 video was not posted yet and I panicked. Glad to see this weeks video Nick, keep up the great work.
Camera stuff was cool! Maybe try some kind of telescoping pole/rod if you can find such a thing?
Tie the camera about a foot or two from the hook and see if u can catch the inspection bite and catch all while viewing the fish.
Another idea is secure a lead weight a few feet below the camera so when its on the bottom the camera will be in a great depth to view the fish insead the bottom of the waterway. None the less, a neat video and i do hope you do another!

The David Attenborough of the spillway, great footage shows the potential of these spots . Nice carp , looking forward to your next adventure.
Forget the underwater footage. We just saw you without your sunglasses on!
The day before my birthday. It can't get any better than a new 618 fishing video. Thanks for all the great content Nick.😎😎👍
Happy birthday!
Excellent camera footage Nick. Would be nice to drop your camera in some super clear water to really see some monsters. Thanks.
Bring back the old spillways!
great video nick! you truly are the king of B-roll and spillway giants! I cant believe how stacked up those monsters were down there
Great job Nick awesome pics...verrrrry cool!!!
Nick! What's going on man! That was some really cool footage you got wIth your GoPro those were some big buffaloes and carp down there man! That channel cat was cool too! But that 18 lb big head carp you landed was banging! Great episode man I loved it keep on getting down!

Awesome video Nick or should I say, "NickGyver" 😁 Rock on NickGyver 🤘😎
Yes Please, more GoPro filming!!!
Love the Go-Pro footage, hope to see more. That was a great catch.
Yes Sir! The Ultralight King showing us how it's done! Thanks for taking us with you!!
When I am watching fishing videos it’s innovation like this that I want to see keep it up men go catch somme more giant fish
You need to get a submarine drone and send it into the spillway. There are probably some monster cats in there.
I love the underwater footage idea. More of that would be cool
Thanks nick ! Great filming as usual , interesting to say the least ,wonder what else lurks at your other locations !
Sound is 5 x 5 Nick! Definitely some large buffalo carp! First time I’ve seen you without sunglasses on 😎..
Already love this you’re a gem on RUclips man
You got a shout-out in one of the latest Marling Baits episodes! Would be awesome to see you guys get together and catch some fish this summer👍 Marling Baits/618 lure challenge???
Just a suggestion, I would attach GoPro to a long 1 inch pvc pipe and you could probably get a more steady shot and turn it in the direction you want.
Cool underwater footage. Nice catch. Looking forward to more cool locations.
😎👍
It'd be nice to see that come springtime again use the video and once the water has been cleaned up a little bit more and see what's in there. Especially when it comes spawning time with the fish...nice Job 👍👍
If you’re having fun, I’m having fun.
Another absolutely kickass video nick, enjoyed it and can't wait to see what's in store for the next one. Keep um coming ty and God bless
nice footage. just a suggestion, I see a few angler gopro videos of underwater fish and they tie it to their fishing rod. it allows them to reel it in faster and move it better.
Cool to see some of what was under there. Keep up the good content and congrats on catching a monster.
MORE GOPRO FOOTAGES IN THESE BADASS SPILLWAYS😎
I indeed like to see more underwater go pro footage and maybe 618 Fishing you might want to think about getting a stronger waterproof flashlight with a bigger battery.
It'd be cool if you got an Aqua-vu camera and went out to that spillway with a kayak.
It’s cool to see some new content nice video
I love seeing underwater, especially when theres visable life! Fun footage. And you didnt lose your go pro so its a win win!
The gopro footage was brilliant. How about putting it on a float and sending it down the channel
Next time you use your go pro underwater make a long pole to attach it to with some weight on the bottom of it to keep it study, like 5 or more pounds of weight so the current doesn't move it much and add more light. 👍
The new GoPro footage was actually pretty cool. I'd definitely enjoy some more of that in the future!
Hey Nick Thanks for the video keep plugging away stay strong hang in there❤ If you get a chance go fishing in Minnesota.
618 Fishing. Nick I would like see more underwater footage. Thank's for the videos Keep them coming. I always enjoy your videos
Maybe you should get a sponsorship from the Dory underwater drone.
Always appreciate your hard work putting out content for us coach potatoes.
Definitely more GoPro footage (with mods🛠️📸)
Maybe try to rig the camera like the cannon ball on a downrigger so you can attach your bait from your rod in view of the camera. that way we can watch the fish take the bait and it will release from the camera at that point.
Like that underwater footage. Keep it coming
Awesome underwater look-cross the Mississippi and do the clear streams in Missouri’s ozarks for incredible underwater GoProing
honest fisherman . never bullshits
Imagine using the GoPro in the pond of monsters, i wanna see what you'll find
This Video IS INSANE!
You need some Nikko Hellgramites in your tool box!!! Trust me on this one!!!
May 19th 2022 in your video you thought you had caught a small mouth and then you thought it was a spot... But it was a shoal Bass...that thing swam all the way from the Apalachicola river, down in the Florida - Georgia - Alabama area, wow, really nice catch Nick!!!!!
Nick is so cool, he wears his sunglasses indoors!
Love the videos!
That was so fun! We would love another GoPro video…. And what a monster! We might try a GoPro set up like this in the summer. Thanks for the fun idea
You always have the best music to go with your videos.
Nice! You are the perfect guy to do the underwater filming with your editing skills! Another cool flavor to add to your already awesome channel! Maybe one day you can invest in an underwater drone or some other fun camera equipment!
Here in Adelaide rock pools after tide goes out are full of King George whiting as big as .. basically you could pick them up...great video
Underwater footage was cool. Thanks for another great video.
I predict an underwater drone being added to your tackle box in your future, can't wait! Awesome connect as always, keep up the good work
2023 will be the year of the monster flathead. Cant wait to see another **NEW PB?!** title
I'm amazed that night crawlers were unable to bag a fish out of that spillway. I've given up trying to understand why, what and when fish eat. I assumed that you would pull out 5 more before the others got suspicious. Keep up the videos!
loving the spillway fishing! But cant you get on some other types of waters, rivers, lakes or dams etc? keep up the good work bro!
I love all of your content Nick, GoPro footage was very cool !
The moment the camera enters the water, my heart beats fast.
Also at the bigger spillway it would be dope to see down there with the go pro
Thanks for the video Nick! Stay awesome.
Woww, i really love this underwater footage, its amazing, im hoping there will be more underwater footage for other spots as well
Cool video, Nick! Check out Gofish Cam, you can attach it between your main line and leader.
That's really cool footage I would love to see you do it at the pond you like going to I would love to see all those huge bass and catfish
That video of the fish was awesome and they were huge. That big head was a monster
There were some monsters down there. I really wish you would have gotten a huge catfish on camera. That was a huge big head carp. Awesome video.
Looks like my typical style of fishing, with a few changes...
I throw my phone in a zip lock or 2, keep it aired up with chunks of pool noodle, turn the phone flashlight and video on, and toss it in. Method of retrieval is a butterfly net on a long dowel rod.
Great job Nick! Loved the go pro footage. Big head I’d dead waiting on something to eat him! Lol.
