0:55 "Give me an intro... intro with a little sum" words before the most majestic piano playing I've heard for a long while.
I love it when Barry Harris sings, not perfect, but beautiful in his own way.
Actually, I believe it is perfect because its NOT perfect (does that make any sense ?)
This video should be preserved in the Smithsonian for ALL future generations.
fr...someone should "ahem" download it
Keep coming back to this video, such wonderful piano playing
That "you must believe in spring" quote at 2:32 hit me hard. Daaaang.
This video.. totally blows my mind. The way he shared his legacy with many others.. it seems like animals give away those own instict to their offsprings. Each time I watch his video I always learn a lot about humanity. Thank you Mr. Harris.
I love when the pianist did the tritone sub and Barry was happy
Well it was more than merely a tritone sub however.
@@WilliamSlaght Can you explain what happened harmonically, we'd all be very gratefully.
@@WilliamSlaghtOkay.
@Halcyonacoustic Thank you so much!!!
The bass player follows him so its most likely planned or written.
i find myself regularly revisiting this video - words cannot express how happy i am this magical moment happened, was recorded, AND shared for us all to enjoy at any time on RUclips. thank you!!
So no one's gonna talk about that intro ? :O So sublime and pretty!
It must be great to still be so relevant and useful even at that age. What a wonderful man he was - a real blessing to all those young musicians and singers. He has left a legacy for players and listeners alike.
The Master.
2:10 - Do you have any idea what the chords are?
@@ecaepevolhturt go to your instrument and figure them out lol
@@guidemeChrist Some nice BH fan already answered my question, "Anyway, the chords: instead of iii -vi - ii - V, they play V7, flat-III7, flat-VI ma7, flat-II ma7."
Held my tears during the intro's second bar
Oh man we definitely need a record "Barry Harris sings"
I must admit Barry is the one who really help me understand jazz the way I hoped., great teacher! He helped make sense of jazz .. Thanks Mr Barry!
He's the only Jazz player that actually teach people how to play Jazz.
I can only hope that I will be as sharp as Barry Harris at his age. His beautiful music keeps him forever young.
Wow that was amazing. How joyful does learning get?
Those people in that room are so lucky - the piano player will carry that experience for life.
What a master Mr Harris is.
Who's the pianist? Lovely!
So beautiful. Rest in Legacy Barry Harris 🙏🏽
He got props from the legend!
Beautiful! Thank you so much for filming and posting!
so touching!!!
The Maestro. Magnificent, always.
such a powerful voice...
Gorgeous Piano playing.
Thanks a lot Tomas for this and all the rest you share! It's very lovely of you. This One was Amazing! He's voice was at its best here. Our Barry! ❤️ May he stay in peace.
Wonderful!!
Wow nice piano, so classy!
this is one of my favourite videos on youtube
RIP THE GOAT
Love is Love is Love is Love is Love......................
When Barry Harris reacts to your playing like he does at 4:17
you can now happily retire from the piano knowing you just unlocked the secret BOSS LEVEL on the hardest setting and got the highest possible score with flawless perfect health.
Biggest compliment ever from the master, and a real treat to hear.
Thank you for sharing ❤
The way he tells that story is unbelievable. Beautiful piano playing too. Would love to know who that is.
Thank god for Barry Harris...and Bill Evans :)
You'd believe every word he sang!
Wonderful. So good to see Barry. And the pianist is exceptional, really great. I remember Barry telling us to sing 6 against 8 in NYC almost 20 years ago. I still haven’t figured out how to do it, but this definitely helped.
I'm still working on THAT one, too.
You will get it if you persist! Funny how everything in music that challenges us initially seems almost exceedingly simple once we understand it 😀
RIP, Barry Harris. You are already missed.
Pianist is amasing
My goodness the pianist seems to have totally soaked up Barry Harris' harmonic framework.
Oh Barry!
Genius
Thanks for sharing
Hey Tomasz That piano player is really good man. Say hi to him from me.
And i miss you!!!
Hi Vahagn, I will. Hope to see you in Roma!
That intro is in my head for like 2days now .. its so beautifull🎶 can somebody make a tutorial video of it??
i came back for that intro
@@error4734hahahah make a tutorial
Use Transcribe and transcribe it. Best way to learn.
dope
Piano player was easily one of the best students of Barry teachings. Anyone know his name?
Rip Barry
Does anybody knows where the lyrics for this version Barry sings comes from?
Oh! Bird did the 6 over 4 phrasing when playing ballads didn’t he?
beautiful... and who was the pianist? Was that you, Tomasz?
what are those lyrics he’s singing after the head? Improvisation? Vocalese lyrics? please help!
probably some standard
it's his contrafact called embarryharrisable you
Yoda
Here's where you can find a transcription of the piano accompaniment: ruclips.net/video/7ZNllP4WQuQ/видео.html
I can't find all the lyrics Barry Harris sings here in the Gerwin song. Is there a longer version somewhere?
Rest easy Legend and hey thanks for teaching a cat ✊🏼
Can someone tell me who’s the pianist?
Jakub Hajdun, piano player from Gdańsk, Poland.
Thanks! :) amazing pianist right there
@@bialowolski he is really good.I like your playing also
@@bialowolski thanks for posting this. I am a bassist living in Berlin but NY Raised. What was that vocalese chorus?
@@doogala65 this is one of his songs called "embarryharrisable you" :)
i’m going to put a transcription i’ve
almost finished of what the pianist is playing in this video, but i need some help!
does anyone know his name?
it's written in the description: Jakub Hajdun
Have you done it?
This looks like Cantina Bentivoglio.
Rest in minor 3rds Barry
I was there. I hated that the guy was constantly talking over him. But it was a beautiful experience anyways.
Wasn't he translating?
@@niphotwala188 yes, but in a way that took way to much space. Even Barry was visibly annoyed at some time
So Beautiful
