- Welcome to my channel! There are so many universities here in #Seoul #SouthKorea, and #KookminUniversity is one of them! I'm enjoying my choice of university so far, so I wanted to give anyone me sort of perspective on what it's like being here as an exchange student. I can't speak on everyone's experience, only mine. I'm a student from CSUMB on exchange so if you have any questions for me, please reach out. Subscribe to my channel for more!

THANKS FOR WATCHING! #studyabroad
I did my study abroad at kookmin and we found our curfew was a joke lol, all you had to do was tap the key and push the door with your body and it opened up. We did that so much and never got caught lol! I lived in A507
For reals??? I really wanna go to this university next fall semester but the rules are really turning me off lmao. I wanna party and order delicious delivery food D:
Hi Marisol, I'm considering Kookmin university for my semester abroad :)) could I maybe send you a message cause I have some questions...? ^^
hi do you knowanything about pharmacy department in kookmin university?
i just gave my interview now im waiting for my response from the university someone help me calm down so excited
I am planning to stay here this autumn semester. Really looking forward to it!
omg this was actually really helpful and made me look forward to going here!! thank you!
Do you know anything about the art/design department here in Kookmin University?
Is all bed has two pairs like that (up and down)? Is there any single bed?
Im so nervous to apply here bc I only know the alphabet of Korean and I know small Korean words like introduction and other singular words
It’s okay they have some classes in English! I took 4 there and was able to get a scholarship 😃 do it!
Hey i'm planning to go to Kookmin next year. How big should my budget be, what do you recommend? Like if i want to travel a bit and live comfortably.
I'd say have at least $4500 available in spending money (includes food, travel, shopping, experiences) saved up for the semester. I personally felt comfortable with this budget.
thank you!
is the sylabus of the education in korean or english. can u please help me with this
if you’re taking english courses, they’ll be in english. no worries 😌
THATS SO WEIRD THAT YOU SAID CSUMB!! OMGGG Literally today I was just talking to one of the international counselors, J Castro. he was telling me all about this program. I live in Santa Cruz right now, but I want to study in Korea sooooo bad. Ahh what a coincidence. Do you plan on living in Korea or just studying there?
Amanda Ocampo Hi Amanda! sorry for the late reply. DO IT!!! If you need a push to come study here, I urge you to do it or you may regret it in the future! I plan to come teach english in Korea after I graduate from CSUMB. So i’ll be back to live here for a year! You should message me on my IG: seabeesabi to connect if you have other questions! ❤️
Thanks for the video! Too bad everything has to be online in my spring exchange program due to COVID-19 outbreak.
Quick important question tho. Since you have tried a lot of it, what's the best instant ramen out there?
Tedwin Tansan ooooh! at the convenience store next to my dorm, there’s this curry flavor one with yellow packaging that’s pretty good! (I dont remember the name ahhhh) for the classic spicy option, shin ramen never fails and spicy Jin ramen is also pretty good!
I'm planning on studying abroad there soon so this was such a helpful video! May I ask how you applied for and got on-campus housing? Apparently representatives from Kookmin told the director of studies abroad at my university that it would be nearly impossible to stay at the on-campus, jeongneung, or gireum dorms there. They recommended the stayforU dorms instead, but those are pretty expensive...
wow, I hadn’t heard that before. basically on the application I just requested it. Are you applying through the USAC program? If so, a lot of you have that issue. Request to get wait listed if you don’t get it right away! I’m assuming I didn’t have an issue since my university at Kookmin are like best buds + I’m the first student to stay at Kookmin for a semester instead of a 10 week program.
Sabi G I applied through the exchange program from my university to kookmin instead of USAC, but this is actually the first year our schools established this exchange program connection, so I will also be one of the first students of my school to stay at kookmin. Also, is the request to be waitlisted is on the same application?
did you make frens or are you treated as a taboo im curious
I love the music 💜💜💜
Next year may I'll graduate from high school can i enroll here as a freshman
Park Saet byul nope. You need at least a year of undergraduate credits.
@@SabiG thanks for the information, got your video on Google when browsing about scholarship programmes in Korea universities. Can I learn from you like a little sister I'm not Korean I'm from Africa just using my bias name

Park Saet byul sure! You can ask me questions through my IG @seabeesabi ☺️
Hi sabi, can you help with the fees? I mean, i like to know how much it is to study car design course for the 3or 4 years that it is, if you could help me i will be grateful
Al Capone I can only speak on my personal experience and that’ll be completely different from yours I’m sure. I paid $4300 for the semester fees alone. My university is an exchange partner so I paid the semester tuition at my school plus the dorm tuition at Kookmin. I would try to get in contact with Kookmin’s international office for more information cause I couldn’t find anything helpful on their website!
@@SabiG wow that's expensive
Hi, thanks for the Video! Is the dorm situation any different if you're coming as part of your master's degree?
Hii I'm not sure if you will answer this comment but I'm planning on going to Kookmin University next fall because Kookmin is a sister school of my university! I was wondering how you found out what classes were available for you to take because I can't find the courses on their webpage., I just see the major they have.
abiG My biggest issue with Kookmin is that the class schedule for the semester is given to us maybe a month before the semester starts. I remember asking for syllabi for classes I thought they’d offer and none were available to exchange students. you can DM me on IG (@seabeesabi) and I can email you the class schedule that was offered to me. At least for it to give you an idea of that helps. Thanks for watching!
I just searched jikook/kookmin and this popped up. Is this for real? 😂
Hi! I’ll be a senior in high school this August, but I’m wanting to go ahead and apply for some foreign colleges. I’m having a bit of trouble doing the online application, and I was wondering if you could help me?
•Kenzie• unfortunately I’m not an advisor or anything really. I’m just a student trying to figure my own shit out. if you’re planning to study at a Korean university for all four years, I’m certainly not the person. but if you’re planning on doing it for a semester or a year, I’d recommend finishing at least your freshman year of college first. a lot of universities require that since you have no prerequisites completed yet.
Sabi G okay! thank youuu :)
So is it necessary to learn korean to study aboard? I’m thinking of studying in Kookmin University for my masters degree for Computer Science.
Night Leon I wouldn’t call it necessary because one can survive. But learning the basics are certainly helpful.
Hi there! I loved your video, thank you for the information! Was wondering, I read through the leaflet of Kookmin Univ and found a Psychology program under the Education major, I was interested in that... by any chance did you get to ask around that program?
Also unrelated to educational questions/comments but you're so pretty huhu
Hi! Thank you for watching 😊 The issue was that there aren’t many classes in Education available in English. If you’re fluent in Korean then go for it of course ☺️ and thank you! 🥰
Sabi G ahh I see! Alright, noted thank you very much! 🤗
Sabi G also been watching some other of your vids! They’re really fun, hope you keep creating 💛
L U I K A Thank you again! I really need to continue creating vids, especially about South Korea 😭❤️ comments like yours are certainly motivating to continue, thank you again! I hope you end up studying abroad in Seoul! Good luck! ✨
Was there too this last semester. Miss Kookin!
This is nice to view
Any new study abroad vlogs coming out soon? I'm planning on going to Kookmin next fall and these were very informative :) Is getting to the city from the campus pretty easy?
Zachary Williams i’ve gotten a lot of requests through instagram to make more Kookmin related vlogs. I post more there than here. I’d like to post more videos, it’s just finding time to do them 🥺 they coming, I just can’t promise a timeline 🤧
@@SabiG Thanks for the response. I'll make sure to follow your Instagram then! :D
JİKOOK 😅💗💗
Do u have u Instagram????
Hi! I am currently in the process of applying for Kookmin for the next academic year. Do they offer any work opportunities for students? I'm very new to all of this.
Brooke Goodman hmm i’ll be honest I didn’t look into that all. If they did it’d be posted at the international center on Kookmin’s campus. they’d probably be tutoring jobs if any!
I’m in the process of applying to kookmin university as well. Are you applying for the language program as well? Or for the graduate/undergraduate program
Blasian Babyy I’m applying for the language program:) I plan on going for the spring semester if they accept me that is
Brooke Goodman oh awesome I’m applying for the spring semester as well but I’m afraid I may have to go for the summer one. How is your application process going? Also do they prefer us to send the documents and application via mail because I couldn’t find that on the website
Blasian Babyy there’s a separate link for the Korean language program on the website. It’s originally in Korean, but there’s an option to switch it to English if you need it. There will be options for regular course students and short term course. And within that, there’s specific instructions for international and domestic students. The application for the spring opens December 2nd, and the soonest we’ll hear back is January 2nd. The process itself doesn’t look too daunting. They need hospital documents proving you don’t have tuberculosis, an apostilled diploma, school transcripts, passport, and a bank statement showing at least 10 k USD. There’s going to be a form we have to fill out first and then send it through email. Once Kookmin gets it, then they will give the go ahead to send the rest of our documents through the mail. They provide the right address on the website. The only thing is that we won’t get those documents back, like ever. There’s two application download pdf, one for Chinese students and one for students of all other nationalities. If you want to keep your school options open, I know that Yonsei starts taking applications in the middle of November for their language program, so you’d hear back sooner than Kookmin. I’m going to apply for them too, as well as SNU, but Kookmin is still my number one choice. I want to join their street dance club 😊
How you doing about your cleaning? 😆
Is this treason?
Ryan Sundar lol what?! 😂
@@SabiG nothing (: nice video
Ryan Sundar ok thank you 😊
