My son and I had our inshore fishing charter last week in HHI. We only went on a 3 hour trip, didn't land any Redfish. The Bonnethead Sharks kept us busy though and were lots of fun to reel in!
@@whipbassfishing honestly man it’s in my buddy’s neighborhood and I don’t want to send foot traffic in there. The security guard will run you out immediately too. Just fish all the ones that are right off the main roads back there. They all hold big fish like this.

would you eat anything that you catch at the inland ponds? I've heard conflicting reports. The Tidal creeks of course are fine, but the Mangrove Snapper spot?
No. I live in the Landings of Skidaway Island and non residents come in and keep the fish. I know those ponds are similar systems. People doing this in our community have ruined the lagoons. Depleted the redfish black drum and trout. All because they let them. Those ponds arent salty enough to be sustainable either just like ours. The tides don't replinish stock. It takes years.
I agree with Tillman. It just fun to catch and release. Not to mention the potential worms and parasites those fish could be carrying due to the lack of current flow.
Don’t know if you will see this but my wife has booked me a hotel for the first weekend in June to go to Hilton head to fish. I have never targeted anything in saltwater and would love to catch some red fish or drum if you could get back to me and maybe let me know a couple spots to go give a try?
there's good fishing all across the island, the best places to stay though range from palmetto dunes area to the south end of the island, you also picked a good time of the year to come down, off season starts late fall and ends early spring.
What were you using as bait in the second spot. Also what do you recommend using for palmetto dunes lagoon cause I can only catch pinfish? I was using frozen mullet. Also are you allowed to fish the Robert Trent golf course ponds?
@Tom Youngest I have park at South Beach marina and walked across the street and then turned right and jetties are up a little bit. Or there is one more condo complex on right. They say they can tow, but I have parked there and walked across street. That will save a few hundred yards.
Nice job. I predominantly fly fish. We come down to HH a fair amount since we retired. That salt marsh looks ideal for fly fishing. Can you share where that is? Pinckney reserve?
I am coming to hilton head in 3 weeks. We fish Port Aransas a lot for the same fish you are catching in this video but usually use live and frozen shrimp. will that work in Hilton head? or do i need to bring plastics? thanks for your help.
My sister moved to Beaufort two years ago and I’ve been coming down for a week every six months. More specifically she lives on pigeon point, i’ve caught a few fish there and some bigger fish when I got to go out on the neighbors boat. I contacted Beaufort sc fishing about fishing together but he was only interested his kayak charters. I’m interested in learning more about Hilton head, hunting island, anywhere I can beat the bank etc.. Do you or any of your friends offer her a guide service for us non-boat guys? I am from Boston and I love to fish, I’ve got things semidialed in down there but could use some help with a few things.
Hhi/bluffton local, love seeing someone making videos on our area
Are there any fresh water ponds? I only brought light gear for bass fishing out with me.

where is it if you don't mind me asking

Yeah salt. It’s a spillover pond from the marsh.

Where is this in sea pines??

Why do you fish in areas where it isn’t allowed?
Because we had permission
Y not
Awesome video, Dan.

Where is that jetty located?
South side of the island.
First spot clearly marked "NO FISHING." Yes, that'll work

That first lake is private and you will get ran off if you don’t live back there. Most lakes back there are like that.
