Is DEXED capable of storing custom patches, or does it only play back presets? Same question for PG8X. The vast amount of plug-in options kind of adds weight to why I have stuck with hardware synthesizers. There was a time after I got the first DAW that I was able to use consistently without it being bug-ridden when I could use the plug-ins it was bundled with. That was in the late 2000s. After the early 2010s, I decided to stop using sequencers and have only used the computer to capture what I do with my hands and voice.
Hey there, Both plugins have parameter controls on the Graphic User Interface, and you can edit or create patches of your own using the controls, and, though I have not actually tried yet, there are facilities to save as files into the library folders. So, yes, theoretically, you can store your own patches. I will do some testing though and let you know it is bug free and not needing the user to be a rocket scientist. Having said that, I also prefer to use hardware as far as possible, and a significant part of any production I do, involves using my hardware synths for the most part, printed to audio, with plugins where absolutely necessary, or where my hardware can't produce what I or a client may be looking for. I have great pianos from Native Instruments, but prefer using my Nord for pianos, and mostly a JD800, Jupiter X, Korg Minilogue XD, and JV1080 for synths and stuff. I think your policy of using the computer to only capture what you can do with your hands and voice is solid, and very cool.
I really appreciate your response,@@TonyDrake1960, the details you provided and that complement at the end. I recall back in the mid-2000s when I was given a Survivor compilation album, reading the booklet and reading about how the members of the group were told by their original producer that the equipment for recording music was just a tool. That is something I have tried to hold onto since then.
Tony you have a very soulful feel, love it man.
Thank you!
