Isn't it "Maggot Brain" by Funkadelic? But the song inspired John's "Before the Beginning". Both are the opening track on their albums and are essentially 10-minute guitar solos.

definitely similarities! though i don't think john intentionally played one of these tracks here! i mean although it's beautiful what john is playing here...at the same time it's also relatively basic and not super original! ;) (which is understandable since it's just a quick improv in front of a journalist)

What combination pedal does john use for the solos?
Chorus ensemble and ds2...pretty much hos go to solo sound for almost everything
@@rhcpimprovandcovers1063 Sounds a bit different to the DS-2 as it does have the sweep sound it usually has(if you understand what i mean)

What kind of sounds is that? Like what amp settings or type of music
i just used a marshall plexi simulation, for pedals i used a golden plexi, boss dd-7 delay, dark star reverb and a boss ce-2b chorus, if i remember correctly :)
John is not aloud to use loopers. There’s an underwritten law that only one Frusciante can be heard at any given time unless any multiples perceived are done through common studio magics.

yes! in this case it was not too hard, cause what john is playing is relatively simple, it just based around 3 chords. i learn most of my stuff by ear these days, it takes some practice but it's a really valuable skill...just sometimes when i'm lazy i use tabs to make the process a bit faster. :)

impressive he played without it if he did. keeping tempo and rhythm. but not surprising
yeah i even checked with a metronome...his timing is pretty good!
Don't judge a soulful musician like John frusciante I understand him. sometimes the vibe is the air sometimes it's not plus your guitar i couldn't hear it
Don't judge? All he said was John forgot the loop. He did. It actually sounds better with the loop. You fru-Stalkers make me laugh.
He looks iike he has the shakes in this vid. I saw the original. Maybe nerves of having to play something on the spot? I know he imporovises every show, but this seems like he's shaking a lot

Not a fan. Some guitarists make things look easy, he makes everything look painful and convoluted. It was pretty shitty what he did to RHCPs other guitarist who was there to pick up his weight when John probably hoped the band wouldn't be able to go on without him or something. 😂. Also he allegedly murdered River Phoenix by poisoning him with drugs.
