    Line the bottom of your grill with foil and you're heat will be more even, and clean-up will be easier.
    Happy trails to you and Jax.

    Eric, Nice install, It appears Wayne does nice work. You should probable seal up the holes in the battery compartments to keep the dirt an critters out.

    oh...and you might want to put something over your battery posts on the bank under your oven so one of those pans don't slide over and short you out.

    AGM is a nice upgrade, but lithium is the way to go. You can run the battery down to 10% before you get voltage drop. They're safer, and much lighter in weight. Many new RV's are coming with lithium batteries now, or offer them as an option. More power can be stored in a smaller, lighter package. Sure, it costs more, but considering how huge of an improvement they are over lead-acid batteries in performance, capacity, and weight, many people are making the switch... and their life cycle also lasts for the long haul as well.

  • @rolloverriderpgr

    HOORAW!!! BATTERIES!! Now think what you would have been setting at with 115 ah batteries! Yeah they cost but worth the wait! Next time in 5-7 years when it's time to replace those get MORE AMP HOURS!!! Are your running an MPPT controller with your setup??
    Question? Were the batteries to wide to lay them on their side and stack them under the oven?
    Trolls FYI: AGM batteries can be laid on their sides, upside down or on an angle! They are called A=Adsorbed G=Gas M= Mat which means the cells are full with no air space as in flooded batteries so no open area in the cells.
    My plans with Honey as I save a 'little' or should I say I'll earn a little storage space with 2 stacked on their sides under one of the dinette benches the other in the same spot as you. On their sides.
    Remember the Mantra with off the grid types that scream "stay short" with your cabling? Ya did good with the set up in the floor box but shorter still and you can add those inches to other cable runs with that savings. Remember, I'm OCD when it comes to wiring! I AM the Cable Guy Carey tried to be!
    He failed!!!! Put a Vincent Price LOLOL here!
    thanks for the link to RVP. He might have some hints I need to use on the old girl!

      Yeah they did drop but I was giving you a break because your reading retention pretty much sucks if you can't read a few paragraphs.
      OR
      You are just a coward that can't read without help.
      And thus your hate comes out against anyone that even comments on Erics videos via the comments section even if they are not gay.
      Thanks for clarifying this. Who said gays wish to coexist with people who they hate because they are idiots and can not understand simple English such as I mentioned I believe somewhere in another post earlier about over weight and he doesn't have the proper equipment and I might wear a beard but I don't like a beard against my face either so he's still freaking out of any picture. Take a breath and continue, I get the jealousy part and I'll not get so up close and personal just so I don't upset your female side.
      Besides a small medical problem I have would kick me right out of any of the gay crap they perform.
      AHHH Shucks to me, or it sucks to be me, so stop trying to paint me gay when I have pretty much beaten you in every one of your childish attempts at being a KB Rambo fail when I couldn't even if I wanted to thanks to all the gods to that ass hole and yep cancer sucks big time but JIT for you to see just how much! LOLOLOLOL!

    Hello! Fan here! I have watched many of your videos and have enjoyed many aspects of how you show us your life! Thank you. But I have to be honest, and hopefully you are open to a little constructive criticism. It seems you have some unresolved issues with 'some' of you viewers. In this video for instance you complain about people watching your clips on mute, and then you appear to be disgruntled about this because you might have to repeat some aspect or detail of your current topic. So from my perspective you are being condescending and passive aggressive and a bit of a baby. How do you think the 'normal' viewers are supposed to react when you talk crap on the other 'obviously dysfunctional' viewers? What I hope you can take away from this is just to be confident in yourself and know that you have plenty of peeps out here that like you and what you have to share!! Let the viewers decide how they will participate! Don't let em see you sweat!! Keep up the great vids and thank you for sharing. I haven't gotten the balls to have my own channel yet... maybe one day!

    nice I just picked up two of the six volt deep cycle golf cart type I'm going to give these a try this time,,, but after seeing how much effort people put into building a vented battery box for these things,,, it almost seems like I would have been better off to just buy some sealed batteries like those

  • @Seegalgalguntijak
    @Seegalgalguntijak 8 лет назад

    If you put those batteries in parallel, you should also look into balancing their charge, because otherwise one (or some) will be full before the others, and then get overcharged, which means it'll be going kaputt, especially when this happens often and constantly. It's not as bad with lead-acids as it is with lithium-ion batteries, but still a thing to consider.

    AGM are charge sensitive and should only be used if the charge controller can handle them. They also can be discharged to 80% without damage to them. So 80 ah x4 is 320 which is about 256 ah to 80% discharge use. So you need about 600 watts solar @46 ah of solar an hr x5 to keep them topped off or some other source to recharge them to 100% everyday if you use all the capacity in single day. If you don't the batteries have a short life as Eric has found out.

  • @markgosling9459
    @markgosling9459 8 лет назад

    Keep the batteries as close to the charging source and each other as possible as you will experience significant resistance along the length of the wire runs. Your batteries have a rating of 320 amp hours. Since you never want to run below 50% of your total amp hours, you really have 160 amp hours. So add up the amps and number of hours you run on all of the appliances you have for a 20 hour period. The total cannot be more than 160. You can use the volt meter to monitor the state of charge%. So never let your voltage fall below 12.2 volts, which is a state of charge of 50%. Also, when you wire batteries in parallel designate the +(pos) terminal of battery #1 as the primary positive terminal for your system and the -(neg) terminal of battery #4 as the primary negative terminal for your system. For reference see: Nigel Calder has written some of the best books on 12v systems for boats, but his expertise would work for your RV too.

    Hey Nomadic--I picked up a junior sized Tilly last week And I did remember this video today when I picked it up today. When he popped the open the battery bank cover by the steps, I iinstantly spotted the white caps to the batteries. They were 6v deep cycle, but not AGM. Oh well, they were basically new, so I guess I'll see how long they hold a charge. Nice video and gracias for the solar battery setups.

    OK, I have binge watched every video you have posted. My T.V has not been on for a week. Why? Because you are living my dream. With in the next 6 years I am going to sell everything we own and hit the road. The things I have learned about solar, batteries and other stuff from you is really going to help me build out a rig, what ever kind I use. I think I am going to use a big van and pull a T.T, that way if van breaks down, I can at least live in the trailer in a r.v park until it gets fixed.
    Happy trails Eric. And if you ever make it back to Corpus, give me a shout.

    Hey dude it look like you had room for all 4 of them under the stove.. The reason i'am bringing this up is because you could of keep those other ones in that same spot..that would of made 500 somin amp hours..i run two arrays on my set up and i use old wheelchair gel batteries that are different ages..Of course i keep them separated with switches. so they won't be drawing on each other..I have 5 sets of deep cycle batteries all with there own female receptacle. so i'am able to jump around when needed..look at my google + ... also those walmart batteries could of been run with a battery 12-volt isolator (30bucks) maybe 100 amp one so they would always be hot for those days when the sun is shy..

  • @RealRocdad
    @RealRocdad 7 лет назад

    You only need #4 wire between the batteries and #2 between bank of batteries and Inverter for less than 2% loss per NEC... any doubling etc. is just waste and read your owners manual they still need vented space! the batteries are not spill-able but they still vent! you could fill a space with hydrogen!

  • @Seegalgalguntijak
    @Seegalgalguntijak 8 лет назад

    If a battery goes up so quickly, it means that the battery has lost most of its capacity, maybe it was deep-discharged or something like that, and now it can't hold as many Ah as it used to (if any at all - or maybe only 10 Ah left where it had 100 before etc). One could try reconditioning it with a Bedini motor or a Re-EMF charger, but it's nowhere near certain that it would work, so the battery is practically dead and needs to be replaced.

    Everyone is welcome to do whatever they like with their battery set ups ( including Eric ) but you should know that if you use deep cycle batteries they *all have vents and will discharge hydrogen gas.* AGM batteries are probably the best performing and easiest to maintain but they too have vents and if the internal pressure exceeds 2-3 psi some gas will come out. It is a safety feature. Whether you have enough volume to distribute the hydrogen safely depends on the situation. Even high-end cars with AGM batteries have vent tubes.

  • @theoldwizard998
    @theoldwizard998 8 лет назад

    I know you probably consider AGM a "safer" solution, but traditional "wet" lead acid batteries store more energy and cost less.
    Trojan battery is one of the best lead acid battery companies around. If you ever need to buy more batteries again check with them. They do sell AGM batteries.

    I may be wrong but I did not see any fuses installed. It's very impostant to have fuses installed as close to the battery posts as possible. Also make sure to installe non-conductive covers on the positive battery posts.
    The batteries store a lot of energy and you'll be surprised how fast the wiring can catch on fire if proper protection devices are not installed!

      +Ray_Biker I've added 2 100 amp fuses. The research I did said that you want a 100 watt fuse for every 2 batteries. Fuses are very important. I've never tripped or arched my batteries, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

      Great. I just wanted to mention the fuses because since I did not notice any in the video.
      I've been watching your videos for the last couple of weeks. Great job buddy! You have accomplished a lot. Jax is adorable. Don't pay attention to the trolls. They are simply jealous.
      You are welcome to park on our property if you ever make it to South Carolina. We live about 25 miles SW of Charlotte, NC.
