04:00 I tried to explain how the base affects the friction force as best as I could but some further clarification: When the base is softer the surface of the mousepad "moves" down with the amount of weight applied on the mouse, so the equation needs to take account the Newtons 2nd law as well. In real use it doesn't achieve the same fully compressed state that the hard base has from the get go, therefore with the softer base the forces the mouse and mousepad exert to each other are smaller than with the harder base. Therefore, with the Freefall SVBC+ it's really easy to adjust the effective friction with your mousegrip.

even if you only measure the "surface" speed of the paf without weight, i still think this is a good indicator in terms of the overall speed. great vid!❤

oh, btw... should i leave motion sync on or off? I've seen vastly different opinions by now and i am rather confused.

@@glashausAimz2 thanks! I always set it off since it gives lower latency and I can’t really notice any benefit with it

switching it off then as well. i left it on because i thought 1ms won't make much of a difference. what rank are you now in vt benchmarks? you still playing?

@@glashausAimz2yeah try how it feels without it! I'm like really really close to master. Still static left :D

Without weight its hard to get a good representation of the actual difference cause you're only comparing the surface at that point. And even then its only part of the surface texture as the feet arent getting full/deep contact. That all said tbh after trying this tool myself long ago and redoing the testing over the subsequent few months it just wasnt a consistent or accurate way to measure this. Getting varied results from different testing days. The differences between some pads are so small any inconsistenty in pushing force, humidity, etc could make 1 seem faster than the next even if a previous test said otherwise. At least that was my longer term experience with a setup like this. Love tne content tho man and you trying to dial it in more

Yeah it’s most likely a balancing act with the weight, maybe a small amount could get the skates more in contact with the surface. I’ve had great success in getting somewhat repeatable results with matching the humidity and temps between testing days but still there is some variance of course. This current list is however something that represents my experiences with the pads the best, and it is much more efficient to test with the digital meter than with the table tilting stuff I did in the past. I’ll propably test every pad again when I update the sheet to get more solid results in every update and with the meter it took only 2h to test everything compared to the 8h with the table tilting. But thanks for the insightful comment and I’ll sure continue making the testing more accurate :)

I’ve only had two mouse pads, the Razer gigantus V2 and the Strider, my strider has worn out over the past two years and now I’m back on my gigantus and it feels too slow, but at the same time I liked the strider but felt it was too fast or atleast didn’t have the best stopping power bc it was very thin. What would be the best pad that won’t kill the bank, that is quick as a strider but has more stopping power, I’m bad at this stuff

You could try out X-Raypad Aqua Control 2 Sakura or Equate Plus V2. Great pads that don’t break the bank 🙏

I have been using HyperX speed pro edition for 2 years and still fast for me. I use Zowie S2 with aftermarket PTFE skates, any recommendation?

You could try to get InfinityMice Speed or Control pad. They have insane value for money.
