Angela Lotz she lived most of her life through the early 1900s and computers weren’t invented until the 80s and Imelda died somewhere in the 70s so I’m sure she has no idea what a computer is. The only technology she probably ever knew was TV, radio, telegrams/telegraphs, planes, cars, typewriters, and record players
@@LM-ix7pk computers are machines that do "computing", arithmetics and so on. electric computers date back to the thirties. computers as we see them today date back to the sixties. how do you think they sent people to the moon in 69?
IKR both my grandmothers had at least 10 to 13 children. One set of my grandparents divorced and my grandpa got another 3 children in his second marriage.
Yep, idk more than 75 of my relatives (yes I wrote that right) I'm Indian and every function Random relatives I don't know:do you know who I am! How big you've become!
My favorite member of the Rivera family is HANDS DOWN Héctor. Not only is he sweet, funny and endearing, he's also very special to me because my late grandfather was named Héctor too. He died when I was 14 months old, so I don't remember much of him, but from what my family tells me about him, I think my relationship with him would've been a lot like Miguel and Héctor's :')
I just love Mama Imelda. She stands up for herself, but in the end, sees the importance of family. I nearly cried when Mama Imelda, and Papa Hector were reunited with their daughter, Mama Coco.
Victoria was Elena's big sister, not her little sister. The woman you said was Gloria was really named Carmen, and SHE is married to Berto. The woman in purple is Gloria, and SHE is Berto and Enrique's sister.
Dude don't stress it, it could happen to anyone. And I got a theory for ya that I also commented on the SuperCalinBros' video. Why didn't Coco forget Hector sooner? Cause during the movie she forgets the name of her own daughter, who was around much more and Hector was never even mentioned for around 95 years. And also while I'm on this topic, why were Hector's shoulders so wide in that picture of him on the ofrenda? His shoulders are considerably smaller in the Land of the Dead and in the photo that he carries with him. I don't know. Maybe it was just his clothes. Sorry to take up so much of your time if you read this, just a couple thoughts you can ponder. Bye!
I know she's not in the movie much, but something bugs me about cousin Rosa (that young girl). In the end she's playing the violin very well, despite only playing for one year? Unless she's a prodigy she hid her music like Miguel did.
In some schools in Mexico, taking orchestra or band in public school is a requirement so she probably already knew how to play the violin for years (if she was in orchestra & went to public school, as i'm assuming)
Izzy Boi Draws well not so much mentioned as implied there a part that’s not in the movie where when Miguel goes to get Elena’s shoe both him and Rosa admire a group of dancers
My favorite(s) are Hèctor and Imelda. (SPOILERS) I love how they balance each other, they are different; Imelda's strong personality and Hector's kind personality; but still they are alike. My favorite scenes are: 1. When Miguel tells Imelda about Hector's death and when she talks back, you can hear all the feelings Imelda has held in all these years. 2. And when Imelda is on stage and Miguel encourages her to sing (the show must go on) and givs Hector a guitar so he can play for her, and Imelda get the music sparkle back.
A brief family tree: Hector (b. 1900), married to Imelda (b. 1899) Coco (b. 1918), daughter of Hector and Imelda, married to Julio Victoria and Elena, daughters of Coco and Julio Franco, married to Elena Berto, Carmen and Enrique, children of Elena and Franco Gloria and Luisa, sisters Gloria, married to Berto Luisa, married to Enrique Abel, Rosa, Benny and Manny, children of Berto and Gloria Miguel (b. 2005) and Socorro (b. 2018), children of Enrique and Luisa Extended family: Oscar and Felipe, brothers of Imelda Rosita, sister of Julio Notable trivia: The name Hector means "hold fast." Oscar and Felipe can be told apart when they speak. Felipe's voice is slightly higher and squeakier. Hector's birthday is November 30. He died in December of 1921.
My favorite character hands-down is Héctor. He's extremely talented, only slightly vain, witty, quick, funny, and passionate. He's an amazing father figure wanting nothing for 100 years but to see his daughter again and the flashback to him and Coco? Gets me every time. I can't get enough of his character.
I had no idea the baby was named after Coco. That's so sweet! I think I would have to say Hector is my favorite family member. I always feel so sorry for him. He's a nicely developed character. I can definitely relate to being confused over such a big family. My fiance is Mexican, and he has a BIG family. Some of them live in Mexico, two of which I met, while others live near him on the east coast. When I see his family during holidays or church, I sometimes forget which person is in which part of the family. I even get some names mixed up despite being with my fiance for three years. It can be a little overwhelming being around so many people, but they're all very sweet. They make me feel like I'm part of the family, despite not being married into it yet. They also make some really great food!
berrypie11 when I first saw Hector, and we found out in the cinema that he didn’t get to visit his family because nobody put his photo anywhere, I thought to myself “what kind of jerk must Hector have been for nobody to want to remember him?“ And then later on in the movie, I started to think “maybe, he was too poor or unimportant for people to remember him, So it’s not really his fault he’s being forgotten.“ Then when I found out that [spoiler beyond this point]… Hector was actually Coco’s long-lost father, and by extension Miguel’s great great grandfather, murdered by Ernesto Delacruz so that his songs would help Ernesto get remembered as a world famous musician while Hector was forgotten, all became clear to me. Pixar is Notorious for putting twist endings in their movies for years, and yet every time they do it I never see it coming.
OMG there are 21 of them riveras!! I counted them all and my favourite is imelda just because she used her shoe for like 4 times 1. She used the shoe to smash the computer 2. She hit ernesto dela cruz 3. She hit ernesto again and 4. She stepped on ernesto dela cruz. Lol Edit : i did not know that abuelita’s name is Elena lol
The ending of the movie made my entire family and me emotional because it reminded us of my great grandfather who passed away a year before this movie was released. Impeccable timing by Pixar for releasing the movie at that date. It just made the movie more relatable than I anticipated.
My favorite family member is Tia Rosita, she’s a sweet Auntie to Miguel, also She looks like an interesting Aunt when I saw her Photo when she was in Human Form (alive). I read on her wiki that she likes Sweets like cakes and pastries, which is why the Rivera family puts a slice of Cake on her picture in the ofrenda. My thoughts is that she probably died related to health issues because she likes cakes which is why shes a chubby auntie. 😊❤️
Thank you for making this, Isaac! I only knew their names, but I really wanted to know how they were related to each other. I think the Riveras are becoming my favorite Pixar family! (Coco is my new favorite Pixar movie, after all :D)
Hector is the best. So relatable and that look on his face at the end when he can finally cross the petal bridge is just feels inducing. I love him and he was wronged in so many ways that he didn't deserve. He's a good guy and a very loving family member, no matter who it is in his family.
I love Mamá Imelda. The fact that her shoe is registered as her official weapon on a Pixar Wiki website makes me love her even more. Also, I study in a somewhat IT related subject, so I can relate when she rants about the "devil box".
Hector is my favourite character by far. But is it just me or does Miguel’s dad look like the Mexican version of Riley’s dad from Inside Out? And why does Hector wear different clothes from when he died?
1st question - eh, kinda 2nd question - maybe because he was forgotten for so long he lost traits and looks that made Hector, Hector. Like the clothes he died in. (That or to make the question of the mystery man in the picture more ambiguous idk)
It’s great that both Imelda and Ellena use shoes as weapons, especially since they’re shoemakers. You can actually see that in the end, Hector gets shoes.
This is random but... How old are Hector and Imelda in the afterlife? Hector appeared to be pretty young when he died, but Imelda lived at least long enough to teach her son-in-law to make shoes. But they seem to be the same age in the afterlife. But if you pay attention to the details on Imelda, you can see she has some gray hairs. This at least means that she has aged. (And Hector is my favorite character/member of the Rivera family)
Héctor was probably around 21 or 22 when he died, and Imelda perhaps in her 50s. She's well remembered and he isn't, so perhaps that's why they look so similar in age? OR maybe Imelda is one of those people who don't look like they've aged that much!
It’s in the wikipedia, Hector died at age 21 and Imelda at age 62, Oscar and Felipe at age 57, Rosita at age 52, Julio at age 75, and Victoria at age 59
I still don't understand: whose is the "Rivera" surname, Héctor or Imelda's?? You'll see, people in Mexico have TWO surnames, a paternal one (the first) and a maternal one (the second). So let's suppose Héctor's surname is "Rivera" and Imelda's surname is (for example) "Ibarra"; that would make Mamá Coco "Socorro Rivera Ibarra". But since Héctor died young and he and Imelda didn't have a son, when Coco got married with Julio (whose surname would be, for example, "Solano"), Coco's surname turns into the second one, making her only daughter "Elena Solano Rivera". And finally, when Elena "Solano" married Franco "Rodríguez". their sons would become Berto, Enrique and Gloria "Rodríguez Solano". You'll noticed by far that the name "Rivera" is long lost in the family, making Abuelita Elena the last member holding the supposed family name. Perhaps Pixar just went with Rivera because, as they often tend to reference respected Pixar employees, of animator and co-director of Up Jonas Rivera. Latin Americans will know what I'm talking about. Wouldn't it be easier to identify Anglo-Saxon people if they went by both their paternal and maternal surnames?? For example, "Abraham Lincoln HANKS" or "Barack Hussein Obama DUNHAM"
George Doty-Williams YEAH THE IMELDAS AND THE RIVERAS ARE COUSINS. THE EARLIEST IMELDA (I FORGOT HER NAME.) MARRIED WITH HECTOR RIVERA. AND THAT CREATED THE IMELDA & RIVERA FAMILY.
Well, nowadays not a lot of people do the "paternal nsme first" thing. And not every Mexican has two last names, I'm Mexican & no one other than my grandparents as two last names Also!!! When (usually)Latinos get married, the wife rarely takes her husband's name. So while Mams Coco would be Socorro Rivera, when she marries Julio she doesn't change her name
@@Lucasp110 Is that in the film? [as far as I remember the lastnames of the deceased are not specified in the film]. Taking account of the naming system in Mexico, I think the most plausible explanation is the family inherited the lastname Rivera from Abuelita Elena's husband (Franco). If Rivera was Hector's lastname (and since Coco was a daughter), that means Elena would inherit Rivera only as a *2nd lastname* and the lasname of Coco's husband as her 1st/main lastname. Her son (Miguel's father) would no longer inherit Elena's 2nd lastname (Rivera) but he would inherit Elena's husband 1st lastname as his 1st lastname and Elena's 1st lastname as his 2nd lastname.. Wow so complicated to explain.
Another thing I think the movie did not touch upon very much is Coco's feelings and opinion of her father before the revelations. It seemed that she also resented her father because the "No Music" extended to many generations. I think she shared Mama Imelda's resentment.
This was cool because I had no idea some of the characters were and how they're related to Miguel. I also was surprised to here what mama coco's real name and the name of Miguel's sister were because it's the same as mine
I say my favorite family member is Coco because even though the rest of the family were pissed at Hector for supposedly leaving Imelda & Coco for a music career (That's not true thanks to Ernesto!), Coco knew all along that her father was a great man who loved her so much. It's beautiful that she kept her papa Hector's memory alive because she kept his letters & poems from her dad. Plus she kept her daddy's part of her family picture all of these years. Coco seems to have the ability to see the good in everyone & she's so loving & kind toward everyone.
I have two favorites in the rivera family. Hector and Imelda. The couple is literally my personality split into two parts and i saw a lot of myself in Hector and Too much of myself in Imelda (And yes I've beaten someone with my boot) But either way this is the first ever disney movie to make me legitimately cry and burst into to tears at how amazing it is. I was full on sobbing in the theatre.
My favorite member of the Rivera family in the film was Mama Coco, because she was just like my grandmother, who passed away at the age of 96, a few months before "Coco" came out
This is something random and was i noticed about the land of the dead. A lot of the people in the land of the dead had young children, and at the end of the movie we see that you will look like you did when you died, as shown by mama coco, de la cruz, and hector. That means all of the children died at young ages. (This is just sad)
oh, it's not about hitting with a shoe, it's a Chancla (slipper), since it's easier to take off and put on back again after being thrown like a ninja star. also it can be replaced with la paleta (a wooden ladle or spoon) or whatever object your mamá or abuelita is using while doing the chores.
I don't Like dabs its actually "stay away from my sweet little subscribers YOU MASSIVE TROLL, or I'll have to hit you with my shoe" there thank me later peace!!
Has anyone noticed that the pizza planet truck is in every disney Pixar movie (except for the incredibles) From 1995-2018 actually 2019 because of toy story 4.
You have two characters mixed up Gloria and Carmen. Carmen is the older looking women who is married to Berto and Gloria is the younger looking women who is his little sister. Disney posted the family faces and names for the coco tree and you can see it at the end of the movie when coco remembers her dad and tells the story to her family Carmen and Berto are holding each other while Gloria is far off to the side smiling. Not to mention Carmen still looks like a pre teen.
So what's your favorite song in the movie? I'm not sure which is mine, but I really enjoy the song that Imelda sang when she went on stage instead of Ernesto. And I really like "Proud corazon".
And they made it really simple by not having every one get married or have many children. My grandma on my dads side is one of 6, my grandpa on my moms side is one of 7, my grandma on my moms side is one of 5-6ish. So yeah I have a large extended family if I want to find it
I'm mexican and i can tell you that in the ofrendas, we put our friends photos that have passed away too. Probably, the photos in the first level of the ofrenda are from friends of the members of Rivera family. Greetings. Sorry for my poor english.
Thank you so much I was trying to find out how the family worked out Edit: When Coco said Hello Julio I was thinking that she would be marry to Papa Julio

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that Enrique is basically Mexican Riley's dad.
AtarahDerek IKR
Perhaps Héctor was buried without his mariachi suit but rather a normal blue coat and pants
lol so true Miguel’s dad look like the Mexican version of Riley’s dad.
It’s great that both Imelda and Ellena use shoes as weapons, especially since they’re shoemakers. You can actually see that in the end, Hector gets shoes.
Oh...... that makes sense!
Who will never know?
Ava Koontz them
I can't believe, how many time you lose to do the Rivera's Family Tree, you are the best!!!😘Kisses from Argentina👋
Imelda's dress is similar to the Filipino Baro't saya becuase of the frills.
(And Hector is my favorite character/member of the Rivera family)
they are skeletons ...
Hector died very young. Imelda is 4 years old then Hector.
Maybe they married their cousins. I tried to no think too much in this point.
George Doty-Williams YEAH THE IMELDAS AND THE RIVERAS ARE COUSINS. THE EARLIEST IMELDA (I FORGOT HER NAME.) MARRIED WITH HECTOR RIVERA. AND THAT CREATED THE IMELDA & RIVERA FAMILY.
I was given both my parent's surnames because they were not married when I was born. I have my mother's last name, a -, then my father's
Maybe it´s still Rivera becuase the family business. Duh.
Well, nowadays not a lot of people do the "paternal nsme first" thing. And not every Mexican has two last names, I'm Mexican & no one other than my grandparents as two last names
Also!!! When (usually)Latinos get married, the wife rarely takes her husband's name. So while Mams Coco would be Socorro Rivera, when she marries Julio she doesn't change her name
BIG CONFUSION
*Was the family name RIVERA passed down by Héctor or Imelda, or Coco's husband (Papá Julio) or Abuelita Elena's husband (Franco)????*
Well, Hector was called Rivera, so I guess they kept the surname becuase of shop
I know full well about how surnames work in iberoamerican countries. But they do call him Hector Rivera in the film
@@Lucasp110 Aren't surnames in Mexico strictly regulated by law like they are in most countries?
I was crying at the end of coco because the great great grandmother died
King_ Dee you mean Great grandmother not great great granddaughter
I cried at the end because of the injustice done to hector but then he got to finally see his daughter
I love Miguel, Mama Elena, Mama Coco, Mama Imelda, Papa Julio, and Papa Hector. They're awesome! I also love Dante and Mama Imelda's spirit animal. 💖
I love Hector and mama Imelda. Hector is an amazing grandfather and Imelda is such a strong funny woman.

Hector (to Ernesto):YOU TOOK EVERYTHING AWAY FROM ME!!! I really felt the pain and betrayal in his voice

ShadeZ 4 Lyfe lol, cousin huh?

@@jov4lyfe633 Rosa's the cousin, but OP meant Miguel's sister Socorro
My favorite video made by Wasto Video. I LOVE YOUR VIDS
Mama Imelda, especialy when she sang La Llorona! ❤️
I'm so glad that you don't use clickbait, like other RUclipsrs, like Platinum.
Why does Imelda called a computer a “devil-box”🤣🤣
Because she has no idea what a computer is 😂
She was born in the 1900s, leave her alone, lmao.
When does Coco take place?
probably in the late 1800's lol

OMG I JUST REALIZED THAT AT 3:15, THE PIZZA PLANET TRUCK FROM TOY STORY PASSES BY
I thought Gloria was married into the family, but now looking at it she does have more of a resemblance to Elena and Coco
Miguel and Hector

I loved this movie so much I saw it 6 times in the movie theater. Totally worth it
I have two favorites in the rivera family.
Btw! Coco now has three awards: 2 Oscars and now 1 blimp from the kids choice Awards
Him: I knew it was time to seize my moment

I LOVED COCO AND THIS VIDEO.
If You Didn't Cry At the End Of Coco You Are A monster
Super Fun Times So, Sulley and Mike didn’t cry at the end of Coco.
Grr grr. I haven't tried
Hector Rivera is my favorite character from Coco which is my favorite Disney movie ever.
I wonder if they named Mama Imelda, a shoemaker after the Philippine first lady Imelda Marcos known for her outrageous shoe collections
This video was so funny THANK YOU :')
I like coco the best
Coco means coconut in spanglish
Do u mean English, Spanish or Spanglish
My favorite member of the Rivera family in the film was Mama Coco, because she was just like my grandmother, who passed away at the age of 96, a few months before "Coco" came out
"stay away from my sweet little subscribers you ransome trolls" ha I LOVE that
This is something random and was i noticed about the land of the dead. A lot of the people in the land of the dead had young children, and at the end of the movie we see that you will look like you did when you died, as shown by mama coco, de la cruz, and hector. That means all of the children died at young ages. (This is just sad)
4:51) My favorite is Hector and Mama Coco
My favourite member is Mamà Imelda and Miguel

oh, it's not about hitting with a shoe, it's a Chancla (slipper), since it's easier to take off and put on back again after being thrown like a ninja star.
also it can be replaced with la paleta (a wooden ladle or spoon) or whatever object your mamá or abuelita is using while doing the chores.

My great grandma lived for 96 years, untill I was ten.
Has anyone noticed that the pizza planet truck is in every disney Pixar movie (except for the incredibles)
From 1995-2018 actually 2019 because of toy story 4.
Oh and Hector is my favorite character in the movie
Thank you for answering my biggest question
Yay another upload from Isaac! I love this channel.
I'm happy to hear you enjoy it!! Thanks for watching!
WAIT YOU'RE 19????? UMMM I THOUGHT U WERE LIKE EARLY 20S,, wOw
I know right! I’m 18. Just one year younger.
katherine WHY DO YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT HIS AGE?!
Matthew Galaan bc im 19 too
Thanks to whoever liked my comment.
katherine BUT STILL! IT'S KIND OF IMPOTILE TO ASK ADULTS OR TEENS THEIR AGE.
Thanks dude I was wondering about that while watching the movie
So what's your favorite song in the movie? I'm not sure which is mine, but I really enjoy the song that Imelda sang when she went on stage instead of Ernesto. And I really like "Proud corazon".
I like Ernesto's "Remember me", "The World es mi Familia" and "Much Needed Advice".
Momma COCO for sure. She's a legend. Her wrestling skills are unmatched. Nacho Libre fears her
yay another Coco vid thank you I knew I was thinking smart when i decided to watch coco last night thanks Isaac your the best😀😀
And they made it really simple by not having every one get married or have many children. My grandma on my dads side is one of 6, my grandpa on my moms side is one of 7, my grandma on my moms side is one of 5-6ish.
So yeah I have a large extended family if I want to find it
This is AMAZING I love Coco and I love you channel you are SO GOOD !! I feel like im diving into Disney itself
Thank you so much for liking my comment you are Amazing
It definetly is the best Pixar movie and it deserved an Oscar, love the movie
Correction: according To Wikipedia, Victoria was older than Elena.
Mama Coco's 100 now. So, happy birthday, old beautiful Mexican lady! :)
