Ironically Tater Tots are one of the few western foods we use our hands to eat with. And they were given a fork like tool to eat it with, lol. Great video though

The elderly man is so cool to listen too. He explains so much about the food and how it compares to their food. Even what can go good together between both foods. Such good looking men. I am from the US and tater tots are as common as french fries. I am glad they are enjoying them. You should offer them with melted cheese for dipping as well. They would enjoy that.

A lot of Indian food is too highly spiced for me, but I have had Farina balls in raita that was phenomenally delicious, also that cilantro paste.
@@MariOlsdatter1919 masala dosa ,idli-vada with coconut chutney, upma, poha,khichdi ,lemon rice,chana usal and some other Indian dishes have mild and bearable amount of spice. In some parts of southern India we make a lot of stir-fried dishes and coconut based stews that have very mild spices.

Tater tots were invented from using the French fries that were too small to sell. So they got grounded up and were made into Tater Tots. It’s like a happy accident, you weren’t planning on inventing it, but it was created as a way of reusing a food instead of discarding it.

I have always loved Tater Tots. I like dipping them into my fried "sunny side up" eggs. And I don't use my fork to eat my Tater Tots, Lol. I loved this episode and how you showed us so many of your potato dishes. I would like to try them as potatoes are one of my favorite foods.

Potatoes O'Brien is another American fried potato dish they would probably enjoy. It includes green and/or red bell peppers, onions, etc.

Not entirely true some Indians eat too much fried food, too much rice and too much starch and carbs or sugar but Indian food can be very healthy
Everyone of the panelist is special but grandfather is my favorite. He sees good in all things.

First time here. I watch Tribal People Try and just adore those people. Not sure about these people yet. I feel no connection to them yet. Btw, that was the longest dang explanation I've ever heard for as to why someone needs to have sauce with their potato. Oh my word.
We welcome you. Here you will not see same persons because our thought is everyone has a unique taste buds and expressions. So we try to put new new people with some old people everytime.
P.S. Babu's turban is gorgeous. I have never seen one so fancy; the diamond folding looks very regal.

Yes, yes, yes... yesssss.... finally they know our pain in the west being confused by pronunciation of english words in thick Indian accent. Saying "tots" in the way that the presenter did is almost impossible to differentiate from "toss" because of the lack of enunciation of the second t. It's great to know that these great tribal folks would have the same reaction as me on the phone trying to understand what someone is saying to me.

Typically served as a side dish to things like burgers or fried fish or some such...
As to how they make it ... good question. I assume the potatoes are either shredded, grated, or finely diced, then the fine bits are rolled or pressed together into a ball or cylinder, and then fried. And it all kind of naturally sticks together. It's great! :) We just get them pre-prepared in bags and bake them in the oven on a metal baking tray, but some folks deep-fat fry them in oil or such. I think a light sprinkling of salt is also sometimes applied. or some spices like pepper or spicy "cajun" seasoning. They come out nice and crispy on the outside, but reasonably soft on the inside. And we enjoy with ketchup/catsup (sweet tomato paste sauce/condiment).
I’m a ranch dip over ketchup person.
I know a few folks who like Ranch, too... Not my favorite for tots [though good with Jojos!], but I'd take it if offered, or if it's all there is. ;)

Do they not have potatoes🥔in the Indian villages? Surely they do and surely they’ve discovered fried potatoes.
i can't help but wonder if the folks who run the channel give these folks a fuller explanation of the food they're tasting after the camera stops rolling. For instance, 'tater' is short for 'potato', and 'tot' is a small child, referring to the difference in size between the manufactured food and the potatoes from which they are made. The initial confusion is fun to watch, but they are so eager to learn that I'm sure they would appreciate the information.

Tater tots are best when the outside is lightly crunchy, and the inside soft. Sometimes I also enjoy very crunchy. But undercooked is not as good. You can dip them in any chutney or curry too.

The trick is to boil the taters before frying them shred them up add spices to personal taste onion powder and a bit of paprika and salt to make em just right! I loved the elder man's reaction! Deep fried American taters can work across cultural divides! Especially when paired with ketchup!! Although I like mine with a sour cream and onion dip!
