I love this band so much. It's eerily strange with their creativity but they execute it in an inquisitive way, can really captivate an audience with mixed atmosphere.
I'm really glad to see you do a second video on Diapsiquir who has grown on me enough to be one of my favorite projects. The way you break down their sound progression is interesting because I can hear black metal elementals in a.n.T.i and 180, but mostly in the guitars in the back and I can definitely hear the French black metal style of riffs in their writing and progression. That being said though they are all over the place with their influence or sound at times like KPN, Marnie Stern, The Blood Brothers Jacques Brel or even like the Locust which the first two albums reminded me of. I never looked at 180 or the member's personal lives enough to see what you said about it probably being the final album which is sort of a bummer as much as I love Diapsiquir but I can totally respect them for what it is and having one of the most unique and well made discography Diapisquir has. Also cheers to the LPs, I have everything by them on CD and 180 on Cassette but now I'm sort of tempted to look into the LPs.
I have never really dove into this band's albums...have heard the name, but havent explored them much yet. This video is great to kind of let me know where to start. Always like finding new stuff, so thanks for this. cheers!
The two members of Diapsquir are originally members of the Hardcore french band Kickback. The most hated band in the French metal scene.. and I love their music (both bands ^^) :D
If you want a kind of "chanson metal" but with a different approach then check out Revue (1988) by Jay Jay Tull, it was their 1 album and it was released by the infamous Metal Enterprises. It's traditional heavy metal/hard rock covers of old German Schlager/chanson songs from the likes of Marlene Dietrich and others, it's a fun listen
This band is one reason why I stopped tagging music with specific metal genres. I'm now at the point where I just classify any metal as 'metal'. While I classify Diapsiquir as metal for my collection, I only do it keep things consistent. From an audio perspective, I don't think I'd classify them as metal anymore.
Never got into Diapsiquir, to arti farti for me. These guys also used to play in the hardcore band Kickback. Personally I like Kickback better, especially the album "No Surrender" nice fusion of hardcore with Black Metal.
For me, it means something related to Mental Disorder. It's formed of two Greek words "psiquir" is related to "psyche" (ψυχή), in Greek means Mind or Soul. And "dia" (like in the word διαφωνία) is a prefix that gives the ideia of conflict, disagreement, diference etc. So Diapsiquir = Mental / Soul disorder or something like that. At least that's what I figured out.
You once made a video "5 bands I dislike" and Dream Theater appeared in it. You said you liked some parts of the songs and others you didn't. I didn't understand it at the time, never had that feeling. In one video you got me to listen to Diapsoquir, I started with "A.N.T.I." Now I understand what you meant about Dream Theatre, I feel the same about Diapsiquir. I haven't listened to their other releases yet, maybe they will convince me more. I also listen to it only once and I remember I wasn't in good mood. I will definitly return to it. However, I have to agree that they sound very unorthodox.
My problem with Dream Theater still is that I view them as very talented musicians who song writing is just them flexing their talents that it doesn’t grab me. With Diapsiquir even though theres a lot happening with their music it’s not them flexing their talents but more so them portraying their unnerving behavior of their life with drug addiction and the helplessness feeling of urban decay they live in.
@@wyattxhim I understand your point of view. Maybe I was wrong starting with "A.N.T.I." I don't understand the music presented on this album. I have the impression that they want to combine too many musical styles and means of expression. I find this album so chaotic that I can't concentrate on its meaning and atmosphere
@@ManuSDP Definitely agreed there even as a person who loves Images and Words. Dream Theater in theory is a great band. A bunch of extremely qualified musicians playing in a band that's a tribute to many progressive rock and metal bands from Queensryche to Rush and even Queen (when they played prog) to an extent. But it's so sad to say that most of their catalogue is extremely unappealing.
Hey Wyatt, is it bad that I think that both Euronymous and Varg Vikernes were very cute??? Like not in a gross fanfic type of way, they both were just adorable

As a French, I can recommand this band a lot. It's by far my favorite band ever. It's absolutely unique and incredible
Because of you I’m always discovering new bands that I’ve grown to love including these guys. Keep the top notch content coming!
Very insightful, reflective and refreshing, new sub. :)

Diapsiquir is so good that one video wasn’t enough
Still living up to the “pronouncing named incorrectly” label.
Never change…
❤

Thanks for the high quality metal videos Wyatt
didnt even realize they had demos out! will have to take a listen. imo ANTI is easily their best album
I'd say the 2013 self titled Peste Noire album sounds like a tamer, medieval & gypsy folk influenced version of Diapsiquir.
Love the Bethlehem shirt
Sorry if you been asked this a lot but would you ever do a video on GISM?
Demons and Wizards is such a great album.

I bought the 180 album on vinyl due to your recommendation on Facebook was strange but fantastic listen
have you ever thought about hosting an online radio show?
Explaining Disclose next?
Their 2011 album's promo video is bannd all over the internet. I had to contact them to get it.
Oh demons and wizards my all time favourite album :p
When you get a minute can you make a video explaining heavy metal?
Ever checked Solefald? Their 2nd and 3rd albums are quite bonkers...
A.N.T.I could be an Avant garde black metal
What was the background music on this vid from? Sounded Daughters-esque but was hard to make out.
It’s
Diapsiquir - A.N.T.I

Diapsiquir are fucked-up geniuses and A.N.T.I. should be hailed as a work of genius. There is so much going on here.
When Reverorum ib Malacht can go to “church”, so can Diapsiquir 😄
Anti is the most extremist in one way with dispasiquir and 180⁰ il extremist is extremist in an other way
What the band name " Diapsiquir " means ? Never found anything about the signification

have you heard Bacchus - French black metal, innit
What if you were in purgatory and the Benadryl hat man said, *say diapsiquir*
One of the weirdest bands ever
albert?
The background music is distracting.
It’s Diapsiquir so that makes sense

@@wyattxhim dream theater has gotten a lot worse with time. To me they only did 2 good albums being Images and Words and especially Awake
