I love how Tina, even after coming to respect Carmy, continues to call him "Jeff", after mishearing "Chef" in the fist episode. Goes from being a disrespectful jab to an endearing nickname.
and i love the fact that he answers to it! 🤭🫶🏿
She even calls him Jeffrey 😂
They’re supposed to start filming S3 in February. Jeremy Allen White, in an interview, mentioned that he’s going back to school to work on his skills. Before S1, he and Ayo went to culinary school and observed in professional kitchens.
I think Sheridan was the name of Sydney’s catering company.
The final track is Wilco’s Impossible Germany. Many consider them the elder statesmen of the Chicago music scene. They’re frequently used for the soundtrack for the show. Incredible songwriting and vibes. Maybe one of the best GenX Americana bands out there. Great addition to the whole series.
Wilco is incredible The soundtrack for the whole show is superb and I love how they chose bands and even performances of certain songs which are related or tie in to the city of Chicago.
i think they all did culinary school for prep & jeremy allen white (carm) worked in a michelin star restaurant too to get himself in the groove & learn about cooking/kitchens
also Fak is played by Matty Matheson who's a world star chef guy and he was on-site consult with the writer's partner. all the shots of the hands are the actors'.
8:00 This guy is Matty Matheson. He is a real chef, restaurateur and he is also executive producer and culinary consultant of the show.
Your vids bring some good vibes man. No matter how chaotic the media we’re watching, it’s always a cozy ass experience lmao
F*ck your vibe! 🤣
That's love, thank you!
I really enjoy your perspective and I'm not shading other reaction channels but I truly appreciate that you don't speak over the dialogue and you actually pay attention to the details! When episodes are under 30 mins it goes quick AF and I appreciate that you listen and give really good insight into the directing process while still immersing yourself in the story. Sydney is my favorite character too!
I just binged these 2 seasons last week while I was laid up with a broken ankle. I didn’t know what to make of the show at first since it seemed so chaotic. By the end of the first season I was a fan, and was blown away by season 2. Can’t wait for season 3.
Sorry for your broken ankle. That was me in 2019 and I binged on Supernatural plus some other shows.
Color means flavor, so fond (“base” in French, referring to browned bits on a pan) is God in cooking. Carm letting Tina and everyone who doesn’t know, know.
Dude, your outro talk really really helped reassure me about some stuff I'm going through at the moment. Great continuation of the chat in the alley that Carmy had with Marcus. Respect! Hope you keep doing what you're doing.
Much love homie, good vibes always!
Great reaction as always! The episode title “Sheridan” is in reference to the name of Sydney’s catering business she mentioned in the episode
Oh man, when I used to work for a restaurant, there were the occasional days when we had our power go out. I think it happened 3 or 4 days across a period of 3 years. And those were always INTERESTING days. We did not have a procedure or a plan at all. It was mostly panic, everyone doing a few shots, then pulling together and all improvising the same bad plan together to save as much shit as possible! XD
So many scenarios in this show ring true for me.
I’m from a really small town and definitely don’t think the dialogue is city-specific, it’s just realistically written in general. Very human. So much so that when a character comes across as *less* human/natural it sticks out more than it would otherwise.
Yeah Claire is a bit of a sore thumb in s2. It’s like all her scenes are from a mid 2010’s rom com.
The dialogue and everything about this series really grounds it in a place and time. It's not a place I'm familiar with but the authenticity is clear and so immersive. Appreciate your thoughtful reaction!
This is one of the episodes that ends on a non-stressful note and I can't stress how much I appreciate it.
Back with the Bear!

Have a great day y'all!
Sheridan refers to Sydney's failed business
I'm a freelancer and lot of the "can I make it" stress was really relatable. As to the language, I'm a country girl from Texas who has lived in a lot of cities in the US and abroad, and it never felt city to me, more familiar/deadline. Familiar in the way Carmy talks to his family and the people he knew before NYC, and deadline talk at the restaurant. It's fast, sure, but it's more about the frantic and familiar nature of it, which we surely do here too. There is a stereotype of southerners talking slow, but that's not going to be true at work on a deadline or while two cousins are having a fight.
"Sheridan" was the name of Sydney's failed catering business.
the actors that play carmy and sydney went to culinary school and worked in restaurants as training for the show ☺
As someone who has worked a myriad of kitchen jobs in LA I can definitely say that this show's attempt to capture the energy and vibe of an urban American working class culinary environment is spot on because it understands that specific experience is universal across the entire country once you take away superficial things like regional slang and accents.
Song is impossible Germany by Wilco!
Huge fan of this style haha
Tons of great Wilco all over this show!
The choice of tunes for episode 7 is 🤌🤌
Wilco is from Chicago and very popular there, so it fits to have them be a big part of the soundtrack
One of my favorite shows to come out in the last 10-15 years, just such relatable and real characters
Another great series! I enjoy your insights and observations.
Curious when Mr Robot will be on YT? It's my 2nd fav series all time!
Don't worry, you want to appreciate these quiet moments in the show, cuz before the end of Season 2, you'll encounter many more chaotic moments than what's happened up to Episode 5.
James, have you considered watching Mr. Robot? i think you would love it
Yup Im watching it now on Patreon!
Richie and Fak throwing hands always cracks me up 😂
I love how as the show goes on... I found myself rooting for more characters. Building them up, getting better.
l feel like someone else prolly already said it but l'll still post it anyways its just funny as hell how Fak's actor is the only person out of the whole cast who made a living off of his cooking and stuff yet his character is the only one not allowed to cook lmao
i know the show LOUDERMILK is not as popular, it is also not as intense as the bear but i think you would like it, check it out on your own if you can, if you can react, would be even better , but i doubt you will because it's not as hyped up
The "stuff at the bottom" you scrape up is called "fond."
My man said the stabs that wound you! Oh I can't wait for your "Fishes" S2 reaction
man that episode hit way too close
@@ger.baltav waaaaayyyy to close!
i just noticed the wall of celebs in the restuarant i swear theres a pic of regina king 😭
The Bear does something so unique, it makes you feel at home. Somehow it is so real it just feels comfortable like an old pair of shoes, even in the stressful moments it hits.
Unmistakably comfortable between guaranteed impending moments of dread
Home indeed
What’s up Patreon people!
SUP!
This is easily my favorite new show (even better than Severance)...I love it. Very happy to see it get so many awards because they really deserved it.
I cannot wait for Ep 6 reaction! We Bear fans been trying not to spoil it for weeks 😂😂
Fun Fact: I am an Alumni of ICE. (Institute of Culinary Education) I graduated from the Pasadena location. During my time at the school Jeremy Allen White the actor who plays Carmy attended it while I was their for a couple weeks. I got to meet him as well as some of my classmates. He was a great guy and wanted to learn from us or our instructors. Seeing him be in this show blew my mind.
Really appreciate your reactions of this show. S02 will be great, too
✌
You ever watched Atlanta? If not then please do for your next series
Wait until you get to season 2, it’s incredible!!
They are so mean to Pete, who is a saint of a human being.
he weill love the next one
I hope you know Bear is not his actual name lol. 😅 Great content though, keep it up.👌
It’s a nickname. Carmy’s last name is Berzatto so the nickname Bear is shared amongst Carmy and his siblings.
@@robertdelossantos5844 Well, ok. It's been a while since I watched it, so I didn't remember that part. Thanks for reminding me.
Carmen Anthony Berzatto 🫴🤌🤌
@@robertdelossantos5844 ooooh ,I had no idea where it come from for so long
James, i've been a subscriber for almost three years now, and i've enjoyed every minute of it. But. This needs to be the year you start reacting to The Sopranos. Pleeezz 😭 u must.
Another great episode and great video! Just watched all your Fargo reactions James and just wondered if you'd ever continue it with season 4 and the recent season 5?
Awesome reaction of my favorite episode of The Bear!!!!😊😊😊😊
Thanks, James! 🍽 Joanna Calo directed this one.
Cannot wait for you to watch forks x fishes
Yes Jeff
Hi James!!!
Sup sup!!
I'm surprised that ppl love Sydney, she's pretty insufferable to me haha she's so passive aggressive and condescending. Her faults are also passed off onto other characters, never her own responsibility...idk maybe 'modern audiences' relate to that 😂
Show started off great but got crappy in season 2. It really seems like different writer and director.
I don't know if agree, season two has some of the best eps in TV ever
@@941zeke Much respect! For me season 2 got away from the cooking and restaurant aspect by delving into people's lives. Sometimes I forgot it was even a chef show. I get some people don't mind that aspect but for me I found myself skipping many parts just to get back to what the show was about. I didn't touch the skip button in the first season at all. Here's hoping for season 3.
@@christopherflynn7986 I'm not sure if it's a "chef show". It's a show about characters and their experiences. They happen to be in a restaurant and a couple are chefs but thats not what it's about. If they worked in a call center instead of a restaurant instead then the characters would express themselves in different ways but it wouldnt be a "call center" show. Just food for thought (pun intended)
@@orian8011 Yeah but thats like saying no show is about anything. They are all just about characters life experiences. The call center would be the backdrop of that show and if they all of a sudden were not in the call center that would change the dynamic of the characters just like the Bear did. Like the office, if they just didnt come together at Dunder Mifflin it wouldnt be the same show. Or if Friends didnt all live in the same apartment it would be different and subject to judgment on weather it was still a good show. Respectfully, you can say its not a chef show but I say it is. The Bear is the name of the show after all which is the restaurant not the Carmy.
@christopherflynn7986 Fair enough. You make some valid points and maybe I'm reading too much into it but I just don't agree with the labeling. Chef show, to me, is like Gordan Ramsey or The Barefoot Contessa or something of that ilk. But you've given me something to think about so thanks. Have a good one.
