Absolutely, I LOVE this episode. Episode 6 gets all of the hype, and obviously, it deserves the hype because it's a brilliant episode of television, but this is where it suddenly becomes very apparent Richie is the true heart of the show. Plus, after all of the cameos in the previous episode, I love that they're like, "Oh, you want one more? Well here's Oscar winner Olivia motherfuckin' Colman, just because we can." What a flex.

Olivia Colman is fuckin special man. In a show ripping at the seams with incredible performances, hers is one of the ones that sticks with me the most, and she’s only on screen for like 2 minutes. The aura she imbues in that character, the presence she has, that’s a truly great actor. She’s one of my favorites, I’ve never seen her give an average performance.

"The kitchen is almost like a healthy boot camp" let me stop you right there James, unfortunately the food service industry has a pretty prevalent substance abuse problem, as well as a problem with mental health issues. Comes with the long hours, stressful work environment, and in more extreme cases verbal or even physical abuse of staff. On the bright side, it's no longer as romanticized as it used to be a generation or two ago. If you've ever worked at a kitchen that has a healthy work culture it's pretty much the way it's shown in this episode, you can call your coworkers friends. We're breaking the cycle, I believe

This episode perfectly sums up why I think customer service doesn't get enough love. People think anyone can do it. No you very can't. Not everyone is cut for work involving customer service. You really do need the temperament and the heart for it. Richie's got both which is why he shines.

one of my favorite parts of this episode is that the bear had been slowly challenging richie. so his transformation here doesn't seem rushed or out of the blue. rather it's an extension of the development we've already seen him undergo. it's the attention to detail and trust in the audience's ability to pay attention for me. man i love this show!!

Human element, the Punisher ?!? Bruh, this is exactly it ! Brother enters his new work place and instead of feeling like an opportunity, it feels like a punishment. The eerie music, the dark grey tones, the succession of close-ups and wide shots. And that how a lot of people can feel about change, the dying part of yourself screams louder then the newborn part of yourself.

Before I worked with a guy who wanted to open his own place but he lost his fire his DRIVE to push back at the world. Before we stopped working together I told him to get that fire back. I challenged him "if I open a place before you I'll hire you but understand it'll be out of sympathy NOT respect" he let the job we had together consume him devoured and chewed up. I hope he rises to the occasion 🙏🏽 believe in yourself and be confident in who YOU are. ❤

This is my favorite episode of the show so far. Looking forward to season 3 to see if anything tops this one. The show is such a stressful watch for a lot of the time, it's nice to have an episode that's almost pleasantcore. And seeing a character that was such an obstacle for much of season 1 have this kind of growth and have me rooting for him is great. I feel like they did a good job planting seeds for it at the start of season 2 (the conversation in the basement about purpose is an amazing scene), and here's where they harvest. This and a scene at the end of the season I won't spoil, but if you've seen it you know there's only one scene I can be talking about...

Love the fact they don't answer the question Richie asks, at least verbally.
Probably the best slight criticism of this series by pointing out that most of the viewing audience isn't likely to be eating Haute cuisine in restaurants with Michelin Stars. I don't know if it's a valid point against the show, or something the show plans to do more with when it comes to the entire story.
I had never considered that. Fine dining, ESPECIALLY NOW- Is definitely "gate kept" to a certain extent.
