My personal mech in BTA is a standard Emperor, 2 gauss, 1 lbx-10, two med lasers with a Morta-8 on the left shoulder. The updated ingame model is very nice.
I know the Scorpion is a complete mememech sort of akin to 'yeah, its a Camry Wagon', but damn if that uggo little bastard didn't take a beating for twice his weight!

The Shadowrun Hong Kong level where you ruin the feng shui of a corpo office is still my favorite mission in any rpg, tabletop or computer. HBS deserves way better.

as an Ex-Artilleryman i approve of any such use (my own last play through of BTA 3062 with the Storm Ghosts had a Chaperell, 2 sniper Artillery, and a Long Tom for vehicles with stolen Dire Wolf loaded with a Long Tom Cannon, an Arrow IV and some lasers just for the lols to round out the Arty. my commander's mech being a Bullshark with 2 Clan Gauss with some missile and laser back-up. the rest of the unit was a mix of stolen Clan and IS mechs)

Hey Tex! Just wanted to say you got me into this mod after I started watching you in the middle of the series. Having a lot of fun - despite making a mistake and spending far too much time fighting Clanners early on before I had anything to reliably *take* them on. Seriously, I spent the first 5 years slogging through Jade Falcon and Ghost Bear, beelining straight for them after mission 3 because I got lucky, fought the Kell Hounds and managed to snag a full Adder and thought I'd be invincible.
Also the Clanners really hate you in my run. Took the BPL start, and whenever you're on the field Clanners seem to aim for the head. A lot. Specifically at you.
I'm going to actually watch the video now. Y'all are amazing, and I'm running out of things to say. Can't wait for the next shitpost highlight reel!
Whenever I restart the career mode, I always start near the Clans and start by taking them apart slowly. I just cannot stand how low speed the IS mechs are so I always go after Clan salvage
I am going to assume Clanners really hate the Tex character, that sounds canon to me.

I love Gauss Rifle Marauders. Seeing it go into action made me smile
My favorite thing I've done with the marauder in the vanilla game is nabbing a gauss cannon, cramming every accuracy modifier in, and de-piloting every mech smaller than an atlas in 1 shot. I'd feel a little bad if the other lance could hear my mad cackle when I forehead-tap their king krab and their friend who was inside.
Damn Tex always putting these out when I should be sleeping, ahh well, guess I'll watch it and then watch it again when I fall asleep halfway through

If you like Artillery. You MIGHT enjoy the Air-strike ability of the Mobile Hq.
Air-strike, Turret drop, AND BA drop all in one vehicle
And with a good air-strike...You can get something like 15 PPC shots into the back armor of the lances. Sometimes even your own!
I've found it more devestating then even a longtom.
Although there IS also the TWO longtom equipped Paladin. So you could make 8 longtom rounds land on target...
Ahhh to see the master of Artie showing how it is done, and as my artie lads use to say when they sent a round down range "Reach out, Reach out and touch someone!"....Boom

It runs pretty well on most hardware. I played it on a now 7 year old laptop. It isn't the most optimized game but it runs pretty well. It's a shame there won't be a sequel

I put two of those on an avatar. It wasn't economical, but completing Destroy Base missions on turn 1 before even putting sensors on a single enemy unit is a hoot.

Ambush convoy missions are my favorite ones, the random crates of junk you can salvage causes me extreme neuron activation
The enforcer is okay, its just competing for the same role with the Hunchie and the Centurion for the same Role. And those 2 are really good at it, so competition is tough. You pick the enforcer if you see the centurion and wish it had jumpjets.
In BOOKS a SpaceMarine can punch 100 people a turn.
In Lore the hard numbers we get suggest that a SpaceMarine can only really punch about 3 people a turn.

those long toms come with Inferno and Shape charge for free . its will be funny when Tex figures that out lol
I like that alot of vehicles in BTA can actually be really good. I once had a Medium Rifle Carrier that could slap the stupid out of a Capellan and make him realize there are better paths in life than being a Capellan.
Long Tom(s) have different ammo types if that's of interest. The SC is great for non-AOE smack downs.
Also, looks like in the newest update of BTA there's a round delay on Arty spam.

Arrow IV has Davy Crocket ammo... you never walk away with a profit when using them, but the other side never walks away at all.

The modern incarnation of the Enforcer, particularly the MWO/BT2018 derived versions, look like miniature Atlases to me.
But yeah, they're decent mechs... that will always play second fiddle to the Centurion.
If an ammo explosion isn't visible from orbit, you don't have enough ammo.
Pilots in mechs with multiple tons of machine gun ammo: "aight, got you covered!"

I got my hands on a pair of Dakota's.
I read their discription about transporting infantry and battle armor as well as giving them firing ports and thought. Damn that would be sick. Sadly they can't do that. But they can fish for engine crits by flanking really really hard, and shooting assholes in the back.
I remembered the lesson from one of these. "The lance you have is never the lance you want."
My Commando got cored so I stuck a bigger engine in it, XLed it, maxed the armor stuck another SRM in it, and a tag or small laser maybe something else I can't remember I was half drunk and it was 4 am.
A Mackie? On the battlefield? Sounds like a crime to shoot at it…
Interesting to go all in on the Gauss, I'da tried keeping one of the ERLLs or just a regular one for some medium range band. I guess I always feel bad going with just one gun for a range.

Was playing BTA yesterday, and had an enemy Flea do a "HiIiIiIIIIYAA!' flying kick. Gotta be honest, that was cool as fuck. Not much damage done, but still, I'm amazed that the pilot of that thing wasn't shitting himself after the attack.
I'm watching another run on Rogue-tech in late game arty exchanges, super-heavies, & round 1 nuke KOs.
John Titor was the time machine guy. Look it up. It's fun
The Dragon is not only a good all-rounder mech: it's a good heavy mech for the DCMS. Why? The DCMS tends to use Light/Medium mechs in larger numbers. The Dragon is a heavy mech that's fast enough to keep up with those lances of lights/mediums.

Off topic question for this video but on topic for battletech and mechwarrior. With mechwarrior 5 clanner version coming "soon" do you think PGI will finally listen to the fans and give us a more functional vanilla mech lab? Mods are wonderful on pc but after my pc broke I have been playing on my xbox.....and holy shit is the mech lab brutal! You can't make any functional builds. Severely low armor is mostly to blame but not having endo and ferro is painful. At best the builds are meh to ok.

So Tex says "If they go first I'm screwed" which isn't accurate due to the automatic 8 EVA both sides have on the first turn a Mech is fielded, it seems weird, leads to weird interactions, and it really means a player needs to reserve down and make both sides go on the last initiative bracket (BTA 3062 modded the AI to make it much more likely for them to reserve down with you)
Anyone else notice that the ontos weighs the same as the long tom
More AMS is needed in the lance, I think

Wait until Tex updates to 1.7.2 - his arty shenanigans will become very different.
Firing accuracy on those first turns of any mission in BTA is always unfortunate. I know it's there to protect the player from getting ganked on the first turn, but since it works both ways, it does make it harder to take the OpFor's guns off the table right away.

Help me to understand, around 26:00 mark you didn’t melee which would have stripped evasion from the quad and made all subsequent shots much more effective. Why not?

Dragon tends to get a lot of hate in HBS BT because (at least in the base game) it has less available tonnage, worse melee, and worse initiative than 55 ton mechs like the Shadow Hawk. Mods may have fixed that though.
All this glorious long tom mayhem makes me sad that the new patch came with the biggest artillery nerf, now they take two turns to fire and there's not nearly enough people getting beaned by shaped charges as there should be.
Here's my advice on loadout...it's not original it's a paraphrase of a really wise guy:
"The best gun is the gun you have on hand, the second best is the gun you left at home and to win a firefight bring all of your friends with their guns.§

Solo duel are a neat way to make some money ... just take some overkill mech .. like the atlas an earn 2 millions for 2 shots xD

I think more mechs should have RL's. I'd rather have an RL 10 in a Hunchback for an Alpha Strike vs the SLaser that never gets used.
Small laser is for anti infantry which is essential in urban setting. Also I thinnnnnnk in books you could use a low powered small laser for LoS Comms with another mech.
