    I made this cake yesterday and followed the recipe to the letter except I reduced the sugar to only half a cup - it was moist and delicious - the walnut flavour is a pleasing surprise. Also, quick to put together and I believe, any almost any fruit could be substituted for pear. I have given it a 10/10 and have added it to my favourites and will be one of my "Go To" for an elegant cake when I want to impress.

    This is a fantastic cake, I used Anjou pears that's all my store had. I Poached them and turned out marvellous. I will make it next time with the Bosc pear if there is a real difference in the cake.

    Very yummy cake, I do recommend it! A few notes: maybe my pears were extra large, but there was no way that I was going to be able to fit more than 4 pears snuggly in the bottom, and I had to trim the ends of the slices to make them fit. Also, they say it's not a very sweet batter, but indeed it is. Finally, a removable bottom pan and a 9x1.5 inch pan definitely don't work for this... Believe me, I tried both!

    • @jt2317
      @jt2317 2 года назад

      Please tell why removable bottom pan doesn't work, leaking ? Because that is what I have and I am planning to use it. Thanks!

    Is there a difference in preparing the brown sugar topping like that in the video versus making a caramel sauce? If results are similar, I’d rather do it like in the video.

    Can this recipe be made with a gluten free flour? If yes, which one?

    • @forget3817
      @forget3817 5 лет назад

      The flavor comes from the ground walnuts added to the flour. So I think you can use any gluten-free flour that you would otherwise use for cake making.
