I was a Tank Commander on an M1A1 Abrams at Ft. Stewart, GA '99-'00, and named my tank Abominog, hardly anyone knew where it came from, I felt old at 33 then lol...
Lee Kerslake 16 April 1947-19 September 2020. He got the two platinum albums from Ozzy before he went to the next level.. Lee you were a drummer idol for us beginners ..
Love this song, and the album in general. It had that cool cover, too. This was one of the first videos that I ever saw on MTV. My parents refused to get cable, so one night I stayed at a friends house, who had cable. I stayed up watching MTV all night. I couldn't sleep. I just watched video after video. I think I saw this one a few time that night.
Bob Daisley was fired by Ozzy, I remember an interview where Uriah Heep was saying "Thank you, thank you Ozzy for firing him so we could have him for our band." I love the way he plays bass and think it added a lot to this song and the album.
Both Daisley and Kerslake was fired by Ozzy after two albums. Kerslake had been in Heep before. Daisley left Heep after two albums and played on all Gary Moore albums from 1983- 1989, but he also went back to Ozzy, and played on evry album until 1991.
One of the best examples of a great band reinventing themselves in a commercial sense without totally selling out. Yes...this is FM radio AOR to the nines, but it's the way we all really want AOR to sound. Only a band of this talent could pull this off. Cheesy early-80s video (way forgiveable) and one of the absolute best AOR-Hard Rock albums EVER.
As a prog-metal keyboardist back in the day, This album represented an amazing synthesis of melodic, yet really hard, rock that preceded some of the goth, like Lacuna Coil, Nightwish and Evanescence and Scandinavian dark metal like Dimmu Borgir...Abominog will always hold a special place in my heart and John Sinclair was AMAZING, both studio-wise and live...I saw Heep many times and, though Ken Hensley will be remembered by the public, Sinclair will be remembered by the musicians!
What a lovely album cover image! Splendid music!! Woody R.I.P. in Jesus Lord and King! Aboginog, please take "a Hike" motorbike!!! Captain Uriah and King David.
Me too! I remember looking at the vinyl album cover in the local record shop (Musicland) and my grandma "forbidding me to buy that!" too funny! the song still sounds great.
This is one of those early eighties videos that made me want to get my 1st motorcycle I' I've only owned 5.. Number 5 is my 3rd Harley.. Next year I'll be buying my 6th
Abominog was the best album of Uriah heep in the eighties, it is also one of the best albums of the band in their long career, the style of the album was more aggressive than the stuff before it or after it, peter goalby was the perfect vocalist for that style, such a shame they did together only 3 albums
I was fortunate to catch them on this tour in Blackburn, Lancs as part of Liverpool Radio City's bus trip! I covered my chemistry 'o'level book with the Abominog advert from Sounds, out of 1200 kids in the school there was only a couple of us listening to bands such as this, the music still sounds brilliant today and one of Heep's best albums, a hidden classic! RIP Phil Easton who was a local DJ playing this music.
I remember this song on MTV when they use to play music LOL It's been one of my favorite URIAH HEEP songs since then. Plus it doesn't hurt having some harleys in the video .
never saw the vid before, but i got this "cassette tape" when it 1st came out and must of played this song a 100 x's that week on a road trip in my '77 Grand Prix with the t-tops off. i now have the cd and played it for some friends who had never heard it, but also liked it.
LOVE Uriah Heep! I would love to see these great groups make new videos of their old songs. Wonder how different they'd be? These old videos sure crack you up though.
Uriah heep kickass underrated band seen a few times in Houston TX I saw this tour open for humble pie kickass concert small club cardies in still got Mike box guitar 🎸 picked
I'll never forget the first time I seen this video. I was in the Air Force stationed at Keeseler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Ms. A group of us wandered down to Mobile, Al and dropped into a local bar. I'll never forget when we walked in they had a TV playing this song and the rest is history. Made a lasting impression. Those folks in the bar were cool by the way
While the 1980's production values sound a little cheesy to modern ears, and the video is kinda silly too, at the time this came out this was both the unlikeliest and the most incredible comeback of all times. No band has ever been so absolutely dead and kaput as Uriah Heep was in 1981 and then produce such a convincing comeback album. They won a whole new generation of fans. Nearly 50 years into a career that nobody expected to last more than a couple of albums, the band certainly deserves some respect.
Agreed! Couldn't have said it better myself. The fact that they're still putting out great albums in the modern day warrants a standing ovation. Long live the Heep!
Thanks for posting this. It was the first video I ever saw on MTV, back in 1982. I remember the cable guy switching on the box, and this came on. Those cycles looked great in glorious videotape! I got to see this lineup the next year when they opened for Def Leppard in Seattle. They were excellent.
Listened to this the other day was was thinking the same thing. Feckin love this album. Looked through my old stuff and have a great old Abominog tshirt which I am wearing again.
I loved this song and album so much in 1982. Great comeback for these guys. Now the bad news; this great song that we all love is a cover originally done by The Bliss Band. Heap owns it though.
This was a worthy comeback for this band after being quiet for many years. A friend of mine bought it on vinyl when it was first released and we were not disapointed!
Awesome video! I haven't seen this before but this was the video who put Uriah heep back in the map in the States. This song is one of the Heep's best and Abominog is the best Heavy Metal record of the 80s. Goalby rules!
@HuntsAnnexStudios I live in Seattle Washington and do remember seeing this video on MTV in the early '80s. Too bad there aren't anymore Uriah Heep-type rockers TODAY!
John Wetton the Bass player once tried out for Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow. Ritchie turned Wetton down. Dam! John Wettons voice and Blackmores guitar would have been awesome. RIP John Wetton.
@@MSPARKS I know that's Bob Daisly. John Wetton was the only lead singer - Bass player that played for Uriah Heep and Asia. I was making a point my friend.
I also agree, I remember this song from the summer of 1982! Great song and always wondered why it didn't stand the test of time with radio. I was also a great comeback for a great band!
Yes brother... John Sinclair' playing in Abominog, Head First and Equator is spectacular. Check him out with Gary Farr's Lion (out of print album, let alone CD).
I'm Sara's old man I seen this version of Uriah Heep open up for Def Leppard in *3 and the first time I liked an opener over a headliner. Peter Goalby was an energetic performer.Too bad he left Uriah Heep
@swinevomit666 Oh HELL YEAH!!! They used to play Kiss live circa Space Ace and Eric Carr often. When Ace's guitar pickup started to smoke... to me it was the coolest thing as a kid. During "Black Diamond", Ace would solo then fall on his knees then do double stops and hammer ons. There is nothing like Nightflight on TV today on a Saturday night. Kids today misses out.
Peter Goalby reminds me somewhat of Steppenwolf's John Kay back in the day, both tall and lanky, both wearing studded belts at times, even the way that he handles the mike stand reminds me of Kay back then, great singer, great song!
actually the singer was in Rainbow for about 2 days, prior to Graham Bonnet. Ironically Bonnett also recorded a version of this song. Great song! Paul Bliss, now of The Moody Blues.
Always liked this album...sure, it wasn't the really prog Heep of the early 70's, and David Byron and Ken Hensley were sorely missed, but this updated version of Heep with more prominent synths was a great addition to their legacy. John Sinclair is an amazing keyboardist, and, of course, Mick Box is ubiquitous as ever...Also, as has been said: Kerslake and Daisley?! That is SICK good! Btw, "Head First" was actually as good, if not better, than "Abominog."
I was a Tank Commander on an M1A1 Abrams at Ft. Stewart, GA '99-'00, and named my tank Abominog, hardly anyone knew where it came from, I felt old at 33 then lol...
Nice
A highly underrated group still worth reminding- the whole Abominog album is a mere masterpiece!
Definitely a fantastic and immortal album.
I love this album....!!!! End of Story!!!
Great songs, worst album cover ever.

Happy 40th anniversary to this underrated album!
Still listening in 2023 from 1980's!
If only I could go to my 12 yo self in 1982 and slap myself and say, the 80s are so awesome, don't waste them
Same here... hind sight is 20/20 or something like that....
no kidding... who would have ever guessed how much we would miss good music, Lol.
Early MTV video, when they were playing great music. They've lost their way, BIG TIME....
Nowadays, MTV don't stand for MUSIC Tele Vision..Nope!
Now it stands for Crap, soap opera and STUPID game show Television!!
Spot on! Good grief I missed the early 80's when MTV was MTV and bands had REAL talent!
Now they might as well rename MTV Snookivision. Or Chanelvision!
Love this song, and the album in general. It had that cool cover, too. This was one of the first videos that I ever saw on MTV. I think I saw this one a few time that night.
I remember 1986 was the year mtv went downhill. they played all their saturday concerts that summer then they were gone forever.
that 'cool cover' killed this album from being a big hit
Bob Daisley was fired by Ozzy, I remember an interview where Uriah Heep was saying "Thank you, thank you Ozzy for firing him so we could have him for our band." I love the way he plays bass and think it added a lot to this song and the album.
Parece que ele fazia as letras e Ozzy só assinava como autor...
Both Daisley and Kerslake was fired by Ozzy after two albums. Kerslake had been in Heep before. Daisley left Heep after two albums and played on all Gary Moore albums from 1983- 1989, but he also went back to Ozzy, and played on evry album until 1991.
KillerKlown. Yes, back to Ozzy, to write and make his albums. Blame Sharon, she also hired John Sinclair on keyboards (1986-1993)
Sharon fired Bob and Lee. That's Lee kirslake on drums. Both of them victims of shedevil Sharon 🤬
@@hostwap1 Parece não!!! ELE FEZ as letras dos dois primeiros do Ozzy e depois voltou e fez o Bark at the Moon e o No Rest for the Wicked.

Saw this at the Palm's in Milwaukee back in the day when they made there come back tour, one ove the best shows I've ever seen
Lee and Bob. An all-time rhythm section if ever there was one! RIP Lee Kerslake.
Man, Peter Goalby was such a great addition to Uriah Heep!

Синклер просто чудо. Единственный в таком стиле. После нигде он так не играл. Осборн, вообще незаметен
What a lovely album cover image! Splendid music!! Woody R.I.P. in Jesus Lord and King! Aboginog, please take "a Hike" motorbike!!! Captain Uriah and King David.
Wow, I haven't seen this video (or even heard the song) in over 25+ years!
Just had a MAJOR early MTV nostalgic flashback! LOL :-D
Me too! I remember looking at the vinyl album cover in the local record shop (Musicland) and my grandma "forbidding me to buy that!" too funny! the song still sounds great.

Great song from these guys Awesome band
That's a sweet Les Paul Custom Mick Box is ripping on
Wow Power Projection and Purpose of this music rocks! Great stuff from classic performers never gets old folks
This is the one song that for me encompasses everything good about early 1980's rock, takes me back to my teen years every time I hear it.
Another great rock band from the 70's/80's I loved this song from day one. Thanks for killer the post.

I wonder where they got the idea for the picture of the album cover?
It scares the HELL out of people.
One of Uriah Heep's best! This is one rocking tune!
Great album
Great tune from a group of guys with faces made for radio. Reminds me a lot of Rainbow with Graham Bonnet.
I remember this song on MTV when they use to play music LOL It's been one of my favorite URIAH HEEP songs since then. Plus it doesn't hurt having some harleys in the video .
Abominog is one of the greatest albums of all time! Period.
How can you not love the biker standoff at the end?

If you grew in 1982 and heard this song and On The Rebound, you know how good this was....
LOVE Uriah Heep! I would love to see these great groups make new videos of their old songs. Wonder how different they'd be? These old videos sure crack you up though.

It's a good album.
A lot of metal wouldn't exist without Uriah Heep. So many bands worshipped King Diamond. Guess who the King worshipped? You got it, The Heep!!!
Why would anybody care about how something sounds to modern ears? Their "music" sounds like shit to working ears.
I agree! At 18 when this came out, it my favorite video, awsome song. Anton sage commented shit song. I wonder what kind of crap he listens too.🤣
Those helmet visors are badass, like everything else in the song and video
Great vocal work on this!
Thanks for posting this. It was the first video I ever saw on MTV, back in 1982. I remember the cable guy switching on the box, and this came on. Those cycles looked great in glorious videotape! I got to see this lineup the next year when they opened for Def Leppard in Seattle. They were excellent.
These are the exact songs I'm looking for. Not necessarily one hit wonders, but lost Obscure hits
Great tune
It's been a couple of days and I am still chuckling about that one!!!
which is quite an accomplishment
Awesome video!!!!
Pete Goalby, Lee Kerslake, Bob Daisley, Mick Box and John Sinclair ROCK!
GREAT song! Can someone re-post this video in higher video and audio quality? Thanks.
Listened to this the other day was was thinking the same thing. Feckin love this album. Looked through my old stuff and have a great old Abominog tshirt which I am wearing again.
I always pictured the song about a guy fighting with his wife. In the end the rival gang that shows up is each of the band member's wives.
GREAT ALBUM!!!! Saw the band on this tour and they were fantastic!!!
Thanks for posting the vid, I've never seen it. I have the album on vinyl, glad I finally got to see the video.

Classic Heavy Metal. Brilliant.
A classic and super underappreciated album.
loved it in 82?and still do!
Classic! Great song
AWESOME song! Luv it! Esp. w/ Ozzy original members Bob Daisley & Lee Kerslake providing the rhythm section. This song still ROCKS today!
This song fkn jams so don't forget this song add it to ur Library!!
+Michael Ramirez My library could definitely use it . Thanks for reminding me .
Wonderful song, so underrated.
I loved this lineup! Heep rules!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a good video by Uriah Heep, I wish that they were huge in the 80's like they were in the early 70's
John Wetton the Bass player once tried out for Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow. Ritchie turned Wetton down. Dam! John Wettons voice and Blackmores guitar would have been awesome. RIP John Wetton.

Too top 40 for my taste. It does bring back memories of my life in So Cal. (Barstow)
I also agree, I remember this song from the summer of 1982! Great song and always wondered why it didn't stand the test of time with radio.
I was also a great comeback for a great band!
Core memory unlocked
Yes brother... John Sinclair' playing in Abominog, Head First and Equator is spectacular. Check him out with Gary Farr's Lion (out of print album, let alone CD).
Awesome song. I bought this album way back because of the Ozzy connection rhythm section.
I wish it was the way it is and you won't ever change it. Sometimes you wish they wouldn't be the way they are!!!
right on! good to see fans, this song rules the world!
Thanks for posting this!!!!!
Underatted song

AWESOME.
Great cover of the Bliss Band song. The original come in 1979 on the album Neon Smiles by The american The Bliss Band
Love Uriah Heap

If you don't know guys this song is not from Uriah Heep, it's a cover of Graham Bonnet's almun "Line Up", the ex singer of Rainbow.
You are right on, and it was written by Paul Bliss a touring member of The Hollies.
Awesome song
Simply Great. 5 stars.
great song cant find songs like this these days
What a great song... what a band!
This line-up ruled!
IT IS WHAT IT IS!!! AN OLD FAVORITE...
@HuntsAnnexStudios in the U.S., MTV and Night Flight played this video on a semi regular rotation mainly during the night hours in 82-83.
Peter goalby. The best singer. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Yeah he had some pipes that's for sure, love this song!!!
