    Rugops being similar to the carnos in the lost world jurassic park novel (for of you who don't know the carnos in the novel could camouflage) would be sick and def makes rugops more unique and better at hunting humans.

    Something I thought about for rugop's stealth/camo would be as a default your camouflage/color change idea is how the animal works. But as a mutation it gets a small buff to that, ingame it would be called something like "chromatic/adaptive hide" but it allows a crouching Rugops to turn NEAR invisible or completely.
    The idea is that rugops, depending on how well maintained a certain diet combination is, has this mutation that lets it crouch and walk near completely invisible at the cost of a hunger drain increase. But similar to other games, when the player bumps into a player/npc/wall rugops will flicker a bit, if covered in mud the camo fails and if the player attacks or is attacked the camo drops.
    Dinosaur players have a radius around them where if a invis rugops is in that circle the rugops is translucent and could be easily missed but is not completely invisible and if it stays in there for too long the disguise fails completely and the animals make a sorta " !!!!! " type sound
    Humans/cannibals/tribals though? a rugops with that perk is but a ghost and they'll either never see it or see it when it's just too late.
    (a predator style flicker/shine could work too but I like the idea of rugops being the spy from tf2 and launching quick and easy attacks and then blinking outta sight, picking off humans around a base one by one)

    Rugops might actually be my new most anticipated creature to come to the game after watching this, humans being killed and eaten alive is what I feel we should think when we think of The Isle and especially when I already didn’t really have a specific creature that I was anticipated for I think Rugops now fills that space, I would personally find quickly mauling a human for tons of reward to be a lot more fun than a fight with another creature lol nice video!

    id love if rugops was meant to be a stealth and ambush focused playable overall, partially for human hunting and partially to avoid threats and ambush smaller prey. if humans feed rugops really well, and rugops needs numbers to handle most other dinosaurs or more than 2-3 humans, solo and small groups of rugops could rely on camo and quiet movement to avoid stronger dinosaurs and ambush smaller ones and humans. i love your idea of them being able to wallow at water sources because it means they could escape larger dinosaurs they arent able to fight if they just get a short break to wallow and run into the woods.

  • @Chareidos
    @Chareidos Год назад +11

    I like the camoflage idea. I would even go so far to say, that Rugops if crouching and being still can become close to "invisible" for an Apex Creature, with the model maybe slightly fading transparent or something similar to add to the impression of that cuttlefish effect! (I am a little bit thinking of an effect similar to the game "The Hidden")

  • @OrigamiMoon..
    @OrigamiMoon.. Год назад +3

    Love the camo Idea! However, I do feel like a lot of people would complain about it if it was player inputed.
    Instead, I feel as though it would be much better if the mechanic was more based on animals that change their coats depending on the season, like rabbits! That way, the skin the player spawned in with is (technically) permanent, and the only thing that would change would be the hue.
    So if someone chose a dull green but then wondered into an area with a large amount of metal human structures, it would turn into a sort of gray instead, or if they went to the highlands instead, it would just change to be a dull yellowish-green.
    I feel like this way, people wouldnt complain about it as much as they potentially would with the player having full control of how it changes.

    • @PIayer0
      @PIayer0  Год назад +1

    Idk if you’ll see this. I love the idea, sounds super fun and I can imagine playing as a human would be terrifying. I like the realism in the isle which leads to pros and cons when I think of humans. Like if a human gets a gun especially a high power rifle they realistically could kill anything. Idk about you but if I spent 7 hours growing something like an allo and it gets one tapped that’s bad. I think they should do something like high powered crossbows. That way humans can defend themselves from rugops and raptors but can’t take out anything bigger than an allo with one shot. Like with a crossbow they in theory could kill anything but it would just take more time and ammo. Also it could blind bigger creatures thus still acting as a defense but not stealing hours of gameplay. Adding to human in general I think it’d be cool for tribal humans. Maybe they could run faster and climb trees and have some night vision but the debuff would be they can’t use the crossbows. And instead rely on spears. What do you think? I’m just throwing ideas

    I am honestly a huge fan of this concept. With camouflage i think it would make Rugops easier to play as with already probably being fast and quite agile as shown in the concept art it would still be difficult to play with randomly getting ambushed by carnos or getting dropped on by mega packs or herreras or accidentally running into a pack of Utahs/omnis so Rugops having camouflage would give it a good way to get away from those threats if the player would manage to get lucky and manage to run away before getting mauled to death.
    I also think human hunters is nice idea as well especially for the smaller dinos and would make an easy meal for less experienced players if they find an unarmed human or one without any form of armor of sorts.
    But something i do find kinda confusing is any human hunters having more defense against human weaponry considering the fact that none of the dinos like troo and herrera have any visible armor like scutes or (insert the word here that i basically like scutes but for dinosaurs except it looks more like horns or spikes because I forgot it) although the more defense to human weaponry like guns and such would be useful for that niche and sometimes the isle makes no sense anyways lol
    (seperated these because it just looks like a blob of words lol)

    Rugops should have a very still idle, it should also have quiet steps and I think that it should be able to change it's heat signature to avoid human detection. Utah is it's biggest competition I think, but Utah should be a large game hunter utilizing pack tactics, whilst rugops mobs human structures and is more solo, but very effective, like a big cat

    Keep the Discussion Videos coming dude! I love thinking up ideas about and seeing what other people think.
    I really like the Reduced Damage from Human Weapons idea. That would help it a lot in the niche. idk if Humans could craft but resistance to Bow & Arrow/Spear in addition to firearms would be good.
    For camouflage, I like giving it color changing skin or something. I think that would be a cool Lore tie in for the Dinos being created by Apollo Engineering or whatever.
    On Agility, I think being able to run on concrete/metal surfaces might help Rugops in the Human Hunting Niche. and if other playables had less traction than Rugops then it would make their advantage that much more potent. and you could give the same buff to Omni/Troodon players who take that Mutation.

    I really like the idea of a Jurassic Park novel styled Rugops with the color changing skin however, I'd like to add something more to that to better fit it as a Human hunter. Rugops should specifically be able to mimic sounds that the Humans would often hear such as breaking metal, a gun shot and perhaps the crackling of a radio, etc. Giving Rugops this ability to lure Humans out of their confined areas would help it a lot, especially if it has similar movement to Carnotaurus to where it's fast and relies on a charge to knock down prey.
    Alternatively you could instead give this mimic ability to Herrerasaurus since it would be far more beneficial for it to hunt Humans from the tree tops and luring Humans into the undergrowth would aid Herrerasaurus immensely.
    On another note, not particularly regarding Rugops but, I'd like to see a Dinosaur with a screech ability to disable prey and predators. Something that works similarly to Hypsilophodon's puke but rather than blinding the creature the scream causes the targeted creature to go deft for a short amount of time depending the size of said creature. As we all know, sound can be a crucial part in deciding if hunts are successful or not and having a creature that can nullify sound can be both really interesting and allow you to pull off incredible escapes.

  • @DeltaF396
    @DeltaF396 Год назад +1

    Complete side note, but based off of you mentioning how much you hate Homalo because its just a juvi pachy (I 100% agree) they should replace it with the Jakapil (A more recently discovered small, armoured dinosaur thats similar in size to Homalo).
    It's a pretty cool dinosaur. It's body is covered in osteoderms, so it could have sort of an armour mechanic that allows it to shrug off just about anything it's size, and they can even give it a bodyslam that could do some pretty nasty bleed to other things similar in size as well. I feel like it'd be a much more interesting and suitable replacement for Homalo, since it'd basically fill the same niche but 10x more interesting.

    Like making bases and stuff.. I think it's best to have an already existing building be there and u can fix the doors and stuff but not like walls and stuff because most are concrete and metal. Like not all humans are experienced in building and making concrete walls u can like put fences or planke or something to obstruct holls in the walls.
    And also be able to put electricity on fences maybe.
    But the rugops can destroy the generator without getting electrocuted.. or dig under the fence..
    Also what about led bullets?
    Will rugops get led poisoning ?
    And give rugops a diet which is human and other dinos don't have it.

    I agree with he horizontal jump bit but I feel it could also make some things more difficult like jumping on top of things to get to humans (maybe that could be a good weakness), but what if it did a good horizontal jump while holding [shift] + [space] and then a not super high jump, but a more vertical one if only [space] is pressed. Also I figured that all dinosaurs would be able to hear humans’ proximity chat since they don’t really make noises unless it’s a gunshot. I think that being able to move while stealthing would make it too effective against other dinosaurs as well as humans - stationary or semi-stationary invisibility would encourage players to camp strategically in human bases.
      Alternatively, it could have a reduced visible detection range to let it deal with humans using night vision gear.
