Just used your method to press in the bushing on my MJT 59 Tele project neck. Worked like a charm. Used a maple block with a shop towel on the back and a Formica sample I got from Home Depot on the front. Thanks Billy.
@78atal thanks Billy - I just did the change and your vid was a great help. Its a simple job but your step by step gave me the confidence that I wouldn't mess my 97 MIA Std Strat up. The Gotohs are great - it needed the conversion bushings Stewmac supplied them with the Gotohs.
@300guitars its about a 1/16 inch gap from bushing to the wood. i know the holes are 10.5mm and fit 10mm tuning knobs. i assume the bushings i have are a little smaller than that
the tuner plates on a guitar that is getting new tuners may need the adejoining ends of the plates filed a bit to allow all the tuners to sit end to end neatly.
@300guitars Hi! I have question. I've just ordered a telecaster neck from a website. The holes for my bushings are just a little bit to small. I would like to have a tool like the one you used in the beginning of the video, but what's the name of that tool? //Simon
Billy, thanks for yet another great video! I have a japanese 60's reissue strat and it's very hard to keep it in tune. I've tried blocking the tremolo, but it actually stays in tune better when I have it set up to float, kind of like Carl Verheyen. However, after a few minutes of bending, it still detunes quite a bit. I've thought about getting some locking tuners and graphtech saddles, but in your opinion, what would be the best way to keep my strat from detuning? Thanks!
@300guitars its about 1/16 of an inch loose i'd say. like thats the distance of the gap. i dont know about radius or any of that stuff. all i know is that the holes are 10mm and can fit 10.5mm tuners?
Hi! I dropped in the tuners but the don't stay perfectly in line and there's a small room between some of them. do you think this could affect in anyway? Thanks a lot and greetings from italy
Hey, nice vid! I'm about to buy applause strat copy from my friend, but it's missing one tuner. Can you say if I can buy a single tuner of kluson for example, or do I have to buy all 6? This vid will probably be great use for me if I decide to buy it
I have a Question I have a 1997 fender California Series Statocaster I have a vintage Tuners because I'm gonna upgrade my old Fender California Series the Groovers tuners is gonna work on my Fender California Series USA Stratocaster
paddy cautela I have used making tape to fill the space but if the guitar had threaded fittings then you can't really go to press fitting But if you are replacing press fitting use a little masking tape
Just bought Kluson dryer, thank you for showing this. Cheers.

Very helpful video. Thanks.
I did pretty much the same method. But used a 6' C clamp instead of channellocks.

Hey great video! What can I use instead of the "circuit board" to protect the neck from damage?

I need to remove the bigger bushing on my MIM jazzmaster and put in adapter bushing for my klusons. Afraid of removing the bushings
my bushings are too small and move around in the holes. does that mean they wont work?
the kluson bushings are too small for my telecaster and too loose ..... what do you do in this situation ?

perfect thanks
Neat!
what is that material you use to not ruin the guitar when you push the bushing in?
It’s called fibre board and he says that as he uses it...
What the heck is that vibrating noise???
@300guitars wow thanks a ton! do you work for them?? haha jk
never work on brand new neck. you can buy bushings in all sizes or adapterbushings
ream the holes enough so no need for channel locks and protective stuff... use common sense!
Poor headstock decal job🤪
will klusons fit on a squier strat?
Yes
