The ending was really retarded imo, like, it could have been a really good happy ending, but no, let's make it like this because trigger
The first half of the story was beyond thrilling and then suddenly...it ends with aliens...honestly would have just preferred that the so called APE organization was trying to achieve immortality and had to do so by creating Kalxasurs or something, but in the end it all ended up wrong and the had to fight their own creation. That would have been a super generic and predictable story, but it would at least make more sense then GIANT FUCKING 02 and blue ONI DARRRLLLING INSIDE FUCKING SPACE BATTLING FUCKING ALIENS!!!! WTF TRIGGER??

Unpopular opinion: violet evergarden was a cinematic masterpiece in terms of slice of life/adventure type anime. It redefined the way one could create a show in the genre, bringing elements that people really experience in life, rather than just adding a bunch of high school characters and giving you the same old generic plot line, along with a moving scene, rather than a stationary school/home area. The characters Violet affects and is affected by make the story every bit as enchanting as the visuals, and each character develops because of her and allows her to develop. Violet's main goal, to find out what Love is, drives her forward and along with it the plot, leading the audience to make their own decisions based on their experience with the film on what Love is, while also being able to watch Violet come to her conclusion as well. Sorry. I had to get that off my chest.

Just finished it and at times I wished I didn't watch it. It was so good wish it was longer and a bit different. I would like a season 2 or spin off of the manga. Anime is not the same anymore for me.

@piko cho the anime about halfway in stops following the manga so if you want a better ending reading it might help. I didn't read it so I don't know how it is.

wow cheekymaster 101, great insight, I bet nobody else noticed that about an anime produced by KyoAni. But I do agree with Gigguk when he says it's just beautiful cardboard, as per usual with KyoAni.
Violet Evergarden had a few episodes where they introduce new characters for the story of the episode. And those were my favorite. I think it was the soldier, father/writer, and the daughter mother. Those 3 episodes were amazing.
The violet Evergarden opinion had to have changed with the feels from ep 7 and 10.

a good idea is to explain whats to love about it, in about 2 sentences. not what its about, just whats uniquely good about it. what makes it stand out, and left an impression in your head. is it the characters? the drama? the unique setting? the mood? pick one or two things, and you're more likely to catch peoples curiosity, since they will be going

I love it, but it's always a bummer when the sisters are absent for too many episodes. Akari and Hinata are such warm, caring characters and I want them to be happy.
Entraya Crosshill personally I love the surreal way Shaft uses animation to protray the feelings and emotions of the characters and what's going on, its really gripping and very unique (plus its what animation should do, exaggerate the themes of the work using their ability to...well animate what would otherwise be unreal). Sentence two: I guess the second standout point would be how despite being far from the first anime about depression, this one isn't just a sob story "look how sad I am, this is how I feel when I get sad," rather it presents real solutions to depression, helping those who relate to find the light in life. Its hard to explain why I think this show is so good since admittedly I don't fully know the reasons it resonates so strongly with me (and others) but regardless I think its an amazing show. Season 1 felt like a 9/10 but so far season 2 is a perfect 10, such a shame not as many people are watching it (still though I'm glad it isn't getting the overrated treatment).

Honestly his description of Citrus kinda made me sad. The imouto element is barely there (they weren't sisters about 5 minutes ago and they're only a few months apart) and of course he focuses on the ONE boob shot in the entire show. I'm honestly really invested in Citrus and think it is a beautiful beautiful show...but then again I've spent YEARS being blue balled by so-called "yuri" so having a show where the two leads make out four times in the opening alone is a nice change of pace.

A Place Further Than The Universe such a blast to watch. Smart dialogs, fluid detailed animation, rich art, interesting camera work, there so much value in watching every minute of this show. Hopefully it won't get overlooked, some ppl really put a lot of passion and talant into this show.
