Why take a left tackle when we want a right tackle to move Broderick Jones to left tackle? Take Amarius Mims at 20, get you a receiver at 51, then take Van Pran in the 3rd along with a D Back. Now all your needs are filled you just add depth pieces

@@xConceptz1 that makes no sense. By your logic if a QB is the best player available then you just draft him although you have more pressing needs at other positions. There is a big board and then there is an individual team board. Just because a prospect is better does not mean he will fit your team and what you are trying to build. We are not in rebuilding mode where you are just trying to add talent. We are a contender looking to make moves around the margin

Daniels played center in college and was the best center in college coming out of the draft. That is not an experiment. It's using what we have to give us flexibility. If we love a center in the draft, and he is available at a value the team deems reasonable then they take him. If not, we have Daniels and can still have a super solid line.

1st- pick 20 to Dallas for 24/87. 2nd- pick 98 to Jets for 111/134.

If you're going to have a replacement-level player at either LT, WR2, or C--and that is just the Steelers' reality barring a major move--there is *no question* that center is the spot to be bad. There's a lot of nostalgia around the position in Pittsburgh, but it's important to be realistic.
Thank you for being the only Steeler fan I've seen that doesn't let the nostalgia overrule value, & there's little to no value in any of these centers, unless they all fall a round or 2.
It literally can't get worse than Mason Cole, PFF sucks but he had a 30 pass block grade and a 55 run block grade. I think they're comfortable with Herbig at C, he might make mistakes, but the guy won't stand there lost after making them like Cole did.
I don’t like that at all for center or taking an edge rusher instead of a defensive tackle. We have been horrible against the run the last couple years and we have done nothing to help the defensive line.

I think it’s a pipe dream thinking Fautaunu slips to 20. Trade back a few picks take Mims if he is there the Xavier Laggette fits Arthur Smiths system most . He is an A J Brown clone. Then take center and corner and in the 4th a defensive tackle

It's a solid draft. Not my favorite, but still solid. Most people must have clicked through and not listened to the explanations based on some of these comments. Daniels has played center at a high level. If we don't have a grade on a center that makes us want them at #20, but a OT is available that we do grade that high, we take the OT. Simple.
No way Khan trades Deonte Johnson without having a plan to get a #1 WR to go along side Pickens get ready for a big move b4 the draft 👊

Jackson Powers-Johnson has MAJOR concussion problems. The same issue for why they haven't extended 'Muth.
Powers-Johnson is going to have a Trey Smith-esque fall. Using #20 on him would be insanity.

If we are going to take a center with the first pic, I think we should trade back and we will still get one of those top three guys and gain an extra day 2 pick
Won't argue that except to say, I wouldn't trade back if a day1 starting RT is available. Grab Mims or Latham or even Button and we can still get Frazier or Van Lean at 51

#Steelerschat again I ask: is Troy Fautanu a better left tackle than BJ? Is BJ a better right tackle than Mims, maybe Latham or Guytano? All of these questions need answered before drafting a left tackle.

C grade. I love the Fautanu pick, but I don't think he's there at twenty. Mims is the realistic pick. Good thing it's a good year to draft T's. I'd much rather draft a potential day one starting Center in the second round perhaps even trading up in the second to get one of the top 3 or 4 C's if Tomlin and Khan deem the need to trade up to get one. Hopefully one of the top Centers are still available in the second because we NEED one bad!! I am a fan and believer of position flexibility if the player is "filling in" for need purposes, but I'm not in favor of drafting and starting that player in a position he hasn't been starting and dominating in the last few years in college especially in the early rounds of the draft. The recent failures of OLineman playing out of position and released only to watch them succeed in their natural playing positions elsewhere prove that we may not be the best evaluators of position flexibility.

So, who is going to snap the ball to our aging QB and our mostly unproven other QB? The Steelers had better take JPJ and call it done. I guess everyone wants a player to replace Moore on the left side. Well, they have one that in Jones. The Green experiment did not work, and the Cole experiment was just not good enough. Now every NFL pundit and podcast people are saying the team is going after a tackle.
A center handles the ball play after play and a tackle does not. I get where you are coming from, but if the most decorated and number one center in the draft is there, how do you pass him up. They have already done it twice and I know they wished they hadn't. So, this time, go and get your center.
