Brilliant show - 3 real life performers. Jessica must have sooo much untapped potential. A 2:55 0n 3 days traing a week and 30 miles a week max? amazing. But all three are fantastic athletes. Chapeau Ladies.
This is so awesome! I recently met Jessica, like her last year, I'm going to go represent our city at the Kaizuka Japan marathon in mid-February, and this was quite a treat to her and the other ladies go into details about their training, nutrition, etc. Thank you for interviewing them! Great episode! Cheers.
Only recently discovered you! So glad I did. Chasing a BQ. All of your sub three videos have planted a seed. A crazy one. I first have to get my regular Q. Hold my beer!
I have been listening with interest to your podcasts over the last couple of years and enjoyed listening to these ladies on how they train and how they cope with their training keep up the good work Floris
Awesome interview! Three different approaches with great results. The biggest take from this is that our bodies adapt and change through diet training and age. These changes will always keep us guessing about how we should adjust our individual training to continue improving. I liked that this video covered the importance of pushing yourself but also touched on aerobic base training and how different speed training works different muscles to improve overall performance.
loved this video! i am fascinated by runners who can break 3 hrs in the marathon, that barrier being what i think separates good runners from really great runners!

I know im asking randomly but does any of you know a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I somehow lost the account password. I would love any tricks you can offer me.
@Carlos Cedric I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im trying it out now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
This was my race strategy going into Santa Rosa : the goal was3:10 - I did 3:05 I really think I could of done sub3 for sure - started a bit to fast went from 6;43 then held it 6:55 until 18, then 7’s 7:05 after 23 then down hill from their lol 3:05 was still Boston BQ ! 1st marathon 3:40 2nd 3:05 - next CIm 2:55 , I’ve learned a lot I do have past past experience in running haha thank you for insight guys def taking notes - Boston I will do 2:59 mark my word plus I am American and East African so that’s does help a bit so cliché - hard work ya!!! 🖤🏁
I really enjoyed this podcast. Keep it up! LA based runner here. I’d like to know who their coaches are and hear more about their “ah-ha” moments in marathon training that lead from 4 hours sub 3.
George Ross all 3 have ran with the So Cal Coyotes with Jimmy Dean Freeman and Kate Martini Freeman. They were my coaches in 2013 when I ran my first Sub 3 marathon and ultra. They have coaching programs going on in the Santa Monica area. Free group runs on Thursday 6am via their FB group if you want to check them out. Not sure who Jessica's new coach is. Their aha moment I think is a combination of things described here. Increasing overall training volume, doing at least 1 or 2 quality workouts. Becoming familiar with some faster marathon pace miles. Patience, consistency, determination and experience from "failing" during certain long training runs and races. Add to that having the right attitude and work hard, and you have the perfect combination! 😀👍
Hi Floris, I have been running at approximately my MAF HR for 8 months following an injury that meant I had to drop out of a race. I attributed the injury to too fast too soon and came across your early videos and decided to give MAF a shot. I have managed to increase my weekly km from 25-30km and ending up injured to 45-50km with very few complaints. After running (and walking) my first 50km recently, I bombed out at 35km and had to walk a few miles before I could continue running. I did some back-to-back 22km runs (Friday/Saturday) and never felt sore afterwards and wondered why I would blow up at 35km. If I can only fit in 50-60km per week, should I be running 30km+ in a single run and spreading the rest over 6 days or something else? I noticed that the top guys (and girls) from my race on Strava run both very high mileage and also run every single day. Thank you for the content by the way, it's proved interesting and lead to some interesting reading around the web.
Thanks for the feedback. I initially wasn't planning on recording a video of it and only post it as a podcast on iTunes, Soundcloud etc. I ended up setting up 2 cameras, so I could cut out the moving around part, however 1 of the batteries of the camera died, so had no other option than leaving it it. Will keep it in mind. Appreciate your thoughts to continue improving my videos. Cheers!

Review left on itunes. Thanks for all the hard work into this. Amazing how different the approaches are.
Hide Myass amazing, really appreciate you leaving an iTunes review. That helps with the ranking and gets the podcast in front of more runners. 🙏
Wonderful discussion. Such an eye opener. Loved all of them and their openness to sharing their experiences.

Very distracting when you get up to move the mic etc. It's all fine, just get it set up then leave it. Otherwise great.
