    The triple whammy of this joke is brilliant. From the outset you already know these kids are acting and looking very mature, then you get to the coffee, and you are thinking this is as far as this joke is getting or at least you think you know where is going and then BAM! you get blindsided by that last comment that is so adult, that you can either laugh or be shocked like the boy. It's brilliant!

That one is a serious film, and "Airplane!" added a lot, but the basic plot is the same & a lot of the scenes are redone as parody, like this one (the original lacked the "like my men" punchline & had adult characters). You can find video compilations comparing many of the scenes on RUclips.

What I said was that in many places, like in the US, Giving coffee to children is like giving them poison. As a matter fact, in South America, Africa, and the Middle East, it’s very common for children of all ages to drink coffee, mostly with milk, but not unheard of, just black coffee.

    I was a little kid when I first saw this (way too little to actually be watching this) and many of the jokes flew over my head, including that one. The expression on the boy's face after she said that was what made the joke for me.

    I was 8 when this movie came out. It quickly became a fam fav, and even at that age, I knew exactly what the little girl was talking about. (Finding out how babies were made was nothing new to me. I have two younger sisters.😄)

    Fun fact: Airplane is a shot for shot comedy remake of a film from 1957 called Zero Hour! This scene features in Zero Hour! Except the actors are adults and there’s no punch line.

      @ They did the same with the first episode of 1982s Police Squad called A Substantial Gift (The Broken Promise)" this was a shot for shot remake of a episode of M-Squad called More Deadly from 1958.
      Edit: I just looked something up and found that the opening credits to Police Squad parody the opening credits to M-Squad. Even the main characters are both called Frank.

      ​@matvangogh the captain in zero hour is John Wayne. And Airplane follows the script so closely that they bought the rights to zero hour to avoid any lawsuits even though parody is legal. It's a real trip to watch it as you mentally hear the Airplane jokes under the serious scenes.

    i watched this movie in the cinema when it came out. remember getting loads of strange looks as i was the only person laughing at certain times in the movie. my date very angrily asked what i was laughing at.??. well i explained that it was a jet aircraft and every time they show the outside you hear propellers.. everyone started laughing at it after that...

    I've seen reactors where this and many other great jokes, went right over their heads...
    Including Drax's joke in Guardians of the Galaxy...

    It's always interesting to see when people break - either right after her line, or after the pan back to his face and reaction. For me, it's the look on his face that takes it from bemusement to laughter.

    The girl at 1:10 you can tell has a quick mind and genuinely gets the humor. All the other girls took a long time to react.
    It's funny watching the men too. Some watch the women, waiting for approval to react, others just laugh cause it's funny. Some of the women you can tell just laugh because it's expected, but don't get the joke.
    This clip could be a case study in human social dynamics.
