After 3+ years binging hundreds of hours of coffee content, somehow Coffee Kev still manages to teach me something new. The cleaning tips were great!
I would love to see you cover advanced settings (like steam temp), whether you still use the BDB water filters when using really good water, and the raging debate online over “should you descale the BDB?”
You’re in this deep Kev, might as well see how deep the BDB rabbit hole goes, eh?
As always, thanks Kev! You’ve had a huge impact on my espresso journey!

Looking forward for the geeky stuff like slayer shots and extra long preinfusion. I strongly believe the dual boiler deserves a proper grinder - otherwise might just go for the oracle for ppl who want the “easy” non fuss way. Not that the sage grinder is not* bad but its no match for the mighty dual boiler ;)

Cheers Flo. No doubt it does, but the SGP is OK as a start with the DB for a beginner home barista just cutting their teeth, I reckon. I started with a hario skerton + cordless drill with a Gaggia Classic

@@Coffee_Kev my mistake i meant to type “NOT bad”, ended up missing that word completely twisting my intended message haha value for money as usual with Sage is pretty decent. I myself started with a eureka Manuale and the lack of a timer was a bit annoying…especially for newbies that need the consistency to learn so that’s nice that the sage already has that at a low price point

Loving your videos, Kev! I thought I was sold on the Bambino Plus but now I'm quite tempted by the Dual Boiler, just because it seems to give more control and perhaps be a bit better made. I just wish it heated up as quickly as the Bambino Plus!

i was taught to empty my portifilter as soon as i've finished the shot. i found it's better to do it when i've finished making the coffee. that way anw remaining water will have cleared and it's easier to knockout in one piece.

    Naaa then...
I have watched your video,(excellent btw) but my dual boiler does not give me nice flow that I watch you do. My bar pressure will not go above 3 bar. I have the sage grinder set to 9, use the metal spikes, tamper with enough 'weight' and then only get a pouring brew at pre-infusion...I'm about to send the machine back thinking it's faulty,(it's new as well).
I have done a back flush and even done a pressure test and walks upto 10bar....please can you suggest what I might be doing wrong?!

I don't know where you get your water, but because of the hardness of Chicago water I have to 'make' mine - a Zero filter followed by carefully measured sodium bicarbonate and magnesium sulfate... I just can't bear the thought of dumping it out at the end of the day. (on the upside, they say I'll never have to descale because of my fancy-pants water... I sure hope they're right because I don't plan on descaling.) Anyway - I've only had the BDB for a month so the timing on this series is terrific! (the videos themselves are darned good as well, so thank you!)

hello, we have the same coffee machine with a grinder as you, but we have a problem with the fact that, despite the fact that we have the grinder set to level 1 (the finest), the ground coffee is still NOT fine enough to create a quality espresso. Did you also adjust the grinder manually inside the device and bring the grinding stones closer together?

    Hi Kev,
    Thanks for the great content.
What is your recommended pre infusion time, just leave it as default or is it worth setting it to where the coffee starts to show under the portafilter?
FYI - after reading your reviews on your blog, I've opted for the dual boiler and the Baratza Forte 😎 it's going to be a learning curve when compared to my Nespresso pod machine which I've had for 6 years 😅

Never buy Breville. They are nice just for a short time. They break down fast, and customer service is horrible. Already went through 3 different models and all are dead. Worst is the Bambino plus. Please stay away 🙏
