    Always good to hear anti tool snob tool talk. Harbor Freight has helped a lot of people get their jobs/projects done.

      I own everything from Festool down to HF and I agree. If budget allows, sure step up and spend more. But everyone has to start somewhere and people can outbuild me with far less tools any day of the week! Some talented humans exist lol 🍻

    I haven't been able to do nearly as many wood working projects as I'd like over the years, but I have been putting more work into my truck. Their jacks, to my knowledge, have been legendary in how long they last. Not always the nicest, but they get the job done and last forever. They are far from my only source of tools, as I go to where I can get a good deal (though for mechanic tools, I like to have cheaper ones on the road, and nicer ones at home), and what works works.

    The moving or packing blankets are great for wrapping up your finished project , especially if you are doing shows and transporting your stuff.

    The Pittsburg wrenches are great too. Might have a cheap finish, but you won't find a more solid or better metal quality wrench for the price. Same with the $1.50 screwdriver.

      also good to have for a portable kit in a truck/car that you are not as sad if someone steals it, or a loaner tool.

      I’ve abused some of those Pittsburgh wrenches and they are definitely durable. I’ve tied them down on a ratchet strap to pull out a dent in my steel bumper and no bends in the wrench. I used a 13 & 14mm and both are good as new. And my dent is out!

    I am ver impressed with the Hercules 12” compound miter saw that I’ve been suing for over 2 years now. This thing is both a beast and super accurate! Was going to buy DeWalt DWS780 but after looking and manhandling both I couldn’t see paying double for the DeWalt. Also, picked a few Hercules blades and i am amazed at how well they have been performing.

      HF has a place for everyone and every workshop. I own plenty of HF and just stay in my lane when using certain tools and they work fine. It's when people expect a tool to perform outside it's limits they become disappointed.

    I agree with evvrything you said. As for the gloves I buy the 5 mill 2 or 3 boxes at a time when they go on sale. I also grab some of the heavier ones (25 pair) for auto work. Shop towels are great to buy when they go on sale too. I also use some of their Hercules and Bauer saw blades, cut very well for the price. Tool stands and mobile bases from HF help me in m small shop, also.

      I didn't even know they had a cordless glue gun. Very Cool! That's an item you think you wouldn't need until you own one. I have a Ryobi glue gun and love that damn thing! When looking into planers, the HF seemed to be right up there with the Wen and Ridgid models as well. I don't have any personal experience with that unit however. Pallet wood always has sneaky items embedded in it just waiting to destroy those planer blades LOL !

    Great video. I also have the plastic storage bin. It serves me well. A few things that I have purchased at Harbpr Freight that you may want to look at are 1, the heat gun. I wasn't going to get one, but my wife thought I needed it, so now I have one. I must say the heat gun has been utilized more than I thought it would for loosening glue joints and tape from projects. Very happy with it so far. 2, I scroll saw, so the magnifying head glasses have been a great buy. 3, My Dremel rotary tool pooped out a while back, so I purchased the Harbor Freight version. The bits seem to slip out when carving, but works well other than that, so the jury is still out. 4, the head lamp, something I thought I would never use. It has come in handy and works very well. 5, sandpaper. This is one thing I would not recommend and really not sure why I don't like it. Thank you for the videos you share with us.

      Hey Matt, appreciate the comment. Funny story, I used to race 1/8 nitro RC cars and purchased a very expensive Milwaukee Heat Gun to break in my motors. 15 years later my HF heat gun is still working like the day I bought it and the Milwaukee died after only 1 year!

    • @darrenporsch
      @darrenporsch 2 года назад

      You better off with the Wen brand rotary tool. Most of their models have a 1 amp hour motor and one or two of them have a 1.4 amp hour motor. which is the one I got. It's $29 for the set with the tool, a bunch of accessories and carrying case. you can get it at home Depot or Amazon same price. Harbor freight ones the motors have no guts they're like 1.7 amp hours. Harbor freight has some decent stuff it just got to know which ones. But sometimes you get what you pay for. One of the best things you can buy at harbor freight is the Daytona floor jack. they even had in their advertisements when it came out that they went to the same factory in China that made snap-on jacks and had their own made. theirs is a quarter of snap-on's price. Snap-on ended up suing them over it but the case never went to trial. they settle out of court.

    As an electrician, I approve the Vanguard 25ft \12awg cord. Toss the 16 and 14 awg in the recycle bin, they promote insurance claims.
    I don't suggest running 3.5 amp or higher through the shop light receptacle. The installation instruction manual should specify the safety limit for receptacle loading per fixture.
    I'm curious to know what the instructions for this shop light warns about its receptacle. : )

    I started dealing with HF back when they were a 1" ad in Popular Mechanics as Harbor Freight Salvage. I have purchased thousands of dollars worth of their various products trouble free. That record ended when I bought the wireless surveillance system. The monitor was shutting off and restarting. After 3 phone calls and 1 hour and 20 minutes the only solution was to return EVERYTHING. Both cameras, one of which was fully installed. The other was mounted but not yet wired. I'm disabled. A friend started the installation but I had to pay to get it removed. HF is sending me a new unit and charging me shipping. Needless to say after many years and many bucks I am not very happy. It may be that they're seeing the end if China is going to be shut out.
