Thanks guys! Tony Sly is one of the most underappreciated songwriters ever...

Totally agree, can really hear it on the solo stuff and especially Hard Rock Bottom when the songs really evolved, one of the best ever!

Honestly I love every album, but No Use is a band where every album just got better and better. Hard Rock, Keep Them Confused, and Feel Good Record is such a great sequence of albums, all 3 are 10/10. Feel Good is their absolute best work and it's not even close lol, even Rory (their drummer) thinks so. Tony's songwriting is so excellent on that album, and the production is out of this world good, I don't understand how anyone could find it unmemorable. This was a fun watch tho!

I'm with you on Feel Good, almost had it in S Tier up to the day before. I never hear anyone talk about it either... it's such an underrated album

I was about to thumb you down for lowering Leche so much, but then you came with the S for More Betterness and said "Let Me Down" is one of the best songs ever made so it's all good. NUFAN came twice to Brazil and i DEEPLY regret not going to see them thinking there would be a next time. Tony wrote the most beautiful stuff you can relate with punk. RIP.

Yeah I knew for sure there would be some discord on Leche, glad we were able to make up for it!

I think "More Betterness" is like "Pennybridge Pioneers" on the S Tier of S Tiers rank. Which could be a great idea for an episode btw. where you rank all S Tier Albums from previous episodes. Also is a Nofx albums ranked planned?

    • @PunkRockRadar

We had planned to do a Master S List at some point (maybe Christmas episode this year?) NOFX was the first episode we ever did but the audio (and overall) quality was awful. We're going to re-do it once they release the new one this year.

Rad, I've been waiting for this one. RIP Tony Sly. Chris Shiftlett was on More Betterness! and Making Friends. John, 100% agree with your take on Feel Good Record. Such an underrated gem. I want to like Keep Them Confused more than I do but I find the production on that record to be so distracting. The songs are solid but I hate the recording. It was a disappointing follow up from Hard Rock Bottom.
S: More Betterness! / Hard Rock Bottom
A: Making Friends / Leche Con Carne
B: Feel Good Record / Live in a Dive
C: Keep Them Confused / Daily Grind
    D: Don't Miss the Train / Incognito
The only strike again Live in a Dive is that it came out before Hard Rock Bottom.

    • @PunkRockRadar

We are definitely on the same page here Andrew, That is also a great point about Live in a Dive, it would have been untouchable if it followed Hard Rock Bottom. Thanks for all the support and always checking out the videos!

I never listened to the first three, Leche is the oldest one I own. I heard snippets from the first three and it seemed so rough, and just not nearly as good as all the later albums. But, as far as the later albums go, I really don't know what I am missing with "Hard Rock Bottom," but i Could just never connect with it. All the surrounding albums of that one where they became more poppy (Betterness, Confused, Feel Good) are all better in my opinion. Nicer melodies, all around catchier songs. Now that I've watched this rankings video I feel there must really be something I'm missing with that album. I've listened to it twice... just did not click.

A few really exciting sequences. Personally, I don't understand that "More Betterness!" is really popular with you. The album made sure that I didn't buy the following albums.
And; my personal favorite, without a doubt: "Daily Grind".
    Greetings von Germany. :)

Haha Totally get the sentiment here, I got More Betterness! at a time where Enema of the State and Fenix TX S/T were my 2 favorite albums, so I was looking for more music in that vein. I didn't hear the earlier catalog until a few years later. Thanks for checking out the video!

RIP Tony! He was such a good songwriter. I think my S is Making Friends and More Betterness. More Betterness for sure because it seemed like the significant mark in NUFAN's career. It was the album that was too poppy for the purists but a gateway for more casual punk listeners - makes sense for what was to come. Regardless, "International You Day" is still a GOAT song.

    • @PunkRockRadar

"Don't miss the train" is my NUFAN fav!! Before switching to FAT sound.
Honestly, I ve never loved the band too much, too poppish for my ears, especially Tony's voiceprint...
Even the most cool and fast riffs seems a "copy and paste" of other skatepunk bands...

    • @PunkRockRadar
      @PunkRockRadar  Год назад

Hey Ben, Yeah the later stuff is definitely super poppy but I think that's where Tony's songwriting excelled, Listening to the first few couple albums I was thinking pretty much your sentiment about the later stuff, that there are other fast/aggressive bands that just do it better. But it's cool they have 2 distinct styles with different people that love them both. As always, thanks for checking out the video and your continued support!
