I have both. On holiday I've been driving two days to and from my holiday destination. Using the Smart Charger I don't need to worry about bringing power adapters and plugging in at the hotel. Keeps it simple and minimal.
Yes, lookout if you have cats (or other pets) that like playing with small things, I caught my cat lifting my hearing aid off the Oticon charger 1.0 to play with the aid, I had to put a power cable through the back of the bedside draw to keep them safe!
I have both too. Why not when new Oticons come with the 1.0 charger? I like both a lot and I already knew everything discussed here but can say I'm a fan of both. The travel charger is awesome and completely eliminates fear of losing a charge anywhere.
Hey Matt, thanks for taking the time to comment! I love that it means you dont have to worry about forgetting a cable or finding power. Thanks for watching, Matthew
For those of us using the original Charger 1.0, should we close up the case when charging overnight? You mentioned that the heat produced in the closed Smart Charger may extend the life of the aids, so would the same be true with the 1.0? Thanks for your helpful information!
Could you please tell me if using either type of charger is it better to unplug the charger during the day when the hearing aids are not in the charger?
The Costco specialist only told me she had fully charged the new hearing aids without telling me she didn’t charge the smart charger itself. When I tried to charge the charger, it appeared to be dead so I phoned and asked another Costco person who said I need to charge the charger at least 6 hours.
My new smart charger doesn't seem to charge if I put the hearing aids in and then close the lid. I have done that several nights running and although all the indications are that it is working, the hearing aids will only charge with the lid open. Can you suggest a solution please?
I have the smart one but the TREE ORANGE LED"s FLASH on off. No leds flash inside case or on the individual hearing aids. They are dead. I can't get them to charge for some reason.
I enjoy your videos. I'm a new More 2 user with the 1.0 charger. I travel a lot and wonder if I would have been better of with the replaceable battery version. Packing a few packets of batteries eliminates extra weight and cables. Appreciate any comments. Thanks
Hey Robert, thank you for that encouraging feedback! Thats a good question. I've some patients that do prefer the battery version for this reason as they're 'old faithfuls' and wont let them down. I'd personally opt for the Smartcharger if it were me. Thanks for watching, Matthew
@@HearingTrackerSize 10/13/312 batteries operated hearing aids if not properly disposed when dead will harm the environment, but old folks are so used to them that’s difficult for them to switch to new rechargeable hearing aids.
Hey Leslie, they will indeed. Theres a well for them to neatly fit into. Thanks for watching and make sure that you subscribe for more update like this, Matthew
All the Oticon Hearing Aids ship with the regular desktop charger by default. The Smart Charger has to be purchased separately. But since you're getting them from the VA, it'll be interesting to see if you have to pay for it if you decide you'd like one. While your at it, check out the TV Connectline to stream your TV directly to you More 1's. By the way...GREAT CHOICE OF HEARING INSTRUMENTS!!!
With the hearing aids I got a nice Oricon cloth shopping bag and a black Box that included the hearing aids a plastic carry case, the oticon portable power power pack( that was a big surprise to me ), 2 packages of the Oticon MiniFit 6mm Power Domes, five packs of MiniFit ProWax filters. All the paper work and manuals.
It’s interesting your comparing these as alternatives to each other as if the smartcharger is a better version. I have both and use the smart charger purely when I’m traveling as a travel charger.
Sounds like you might be missing out on the drying capability that Matthew outlined in the video. I would suggest always using the smartcharger to increase device longevity and reduce the risk of moisture-related repairs.
@@AbramBailey I havent had issues with moisture yet. I do have a separate dryer and sanitizer I use every few days which has a 45 min cycle that is better imo
Hey Trevin, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Comparing the two the smartcharger has more features and IS more versatile on paper. Thanks for watching, Matthew
I just bought an Oticon hearing aid (More 2 miniRITE R) in Johannesburg South Africa but still received the old standard charger 1.0. Shouldn't I have received the new SmartCharger instead o the older 1.0 charger?
Hey Martin, That's a great question. I think that the Smartcharger has a greater amount of versatility. You may be able to switch it depending on your practice? Thanks for watching, Matthew
Has anyone noticed that their Smart Charger does not automatically start charging their More Hearing Aids when dropped into the Charger (no orange light). I have to "plug in the USB Cable" to the Smart Charger, then set in the Hearing Aids in the Charger and then I can remove the USB Cable and the Hearing Aids show their Orange Light. I have to do this no matter what charge level is left on the Smart Charger. Anybody else have this issue.?
I like the idea...but not the price. I use the 1.0 charger on my bedside table...but I cover it with supermarket coleslaw box to trap that tiny bit of heat present in the charger. I think they should redesign the 1.0 charger with a lid and also put the status LED's under the lid where they will be seen when putting the aids in & out.
Hi Bob, thanks for taking the time to comment. I agree with everything that you've written. Just make sure that you wash the coleslaw box first!! Thanks for watching, Matthew
I just purchased the Oticon Smart Charger and the cost was $300 USD. I hope this helps. I am pleased with the More 1. Streaming does shorten the battery life and I hope this will be improved in the future. Have a great day!
Nice video. With that said; I'm sorry, but It's absolutely absurd what the manufacturers charge for these chargers. $150 to $400 USD for a simple charger. It's not just Oticon, it's all the hearing aid manufacturers. These chargers are doing nothing more advanced than a $20 li-ion charger. All ear bud cases do the exact same thing. Each have a battery inside of them that will charge your ear buds 2-3 times. They all carefully charge li-ion batteries correctly. These chargers shouldn't cost more than maybe $50. That's really pushing it, but i know when you put the word medical on anything the price magically goes up 1000%. Sure, Oticons chargers use inductive charger, which is a very nice feature, but that's nothing special either anymore. I have multiple inductive chargers for various devices at home. Each cost less than $30.
