I still enjoy this movie. The Thing has always been my favorite. Not only is he a badass, but he gave up being normal and accepted what he became to help his friends
Darth Vader was partly inspired by Dr. Doom. They changed a few of his traits for this movie. In the comics, he isn't made of metal, he is a genius inventor like Tony Stark and creates a robotic suit similar to Iron Man (but better), the electric blasts come from the suit, not his body. His mother was a gypsy witch and he learned magic too, enough to rival Dr. Strange. He's even stolen the power of god-like beings such as Odin and the Beyonder. He was born in the country of Latveria (where the cargo ship is headed) and eventually conquers it to become king (in the comics). He often uses Doombots, robot clones that look, act and think like him, even thinking they ARE him, so even when he is defeated, often the heroes have only merely defeated a robot clone and Doom remains in power. ...He also frequently speaks in the third person.
As he's used to say, THERE IS ONLY DOOM 😂He's probably the most powerful villain (or being) in Marvel comics. Plus, he literally became a god when the crazy Reed Richards of the Ultimate universe (the Maker) made all the worlds clash into one... I'm not very fond of what they're doing with RDJ to make Doom enter the MCU, but still we'll see I guess.
I remember when it was first announced that Chris Evans was going to be Captain America, a lot of people had doubts because he always played more cocky, arrogant characters so a lot of people didn't think he could pull it off, myself included. Of course he managed to do a complete turn around and play Steve Rogers perfectly, but its funny watching people see his earlier roles for the first time and be shocked at the totally different persona 😂
When rewatching this film, it helps to think of Johnny Storm being Tony Stark in Steve Rogers' body. Stan Lee cameoed as a character he wrote in the comics - Willie Lumpkin, the Baxter Building mailman. In the comics and other adaptations, Latveria is a Balkan country (in the Banat region near Romania, Serbia, and Hungary) where Dr. Victor von Doom a.k.a. Doctor Doom is dictator, allowing him to abuse diplomatic immunity in his schemes against the Fantastic Four.
💜🖐 Victor von Doom was Stan Lee's favorite villain! He was extremely powerful and extremely dangerous! His superpowers were unique! Thank you girls for watching this amazing movie! 🌹🌹
Back in the days when comic book movies hadn't yet turned into conveyor-belt franchises... 😁 Yes, I watched this movie a long time ago, but I've watched it several times since then. This movie is pretty well made. At the dawn of the formation and popularization of Marvel comix, it looked good. The characters have their own personalities and conflicts, which gives the film depth and emotional charge. My respects to the cast. One of the key aspects of this movie is the visual effects, which were impressive at the time of the film's release. The film successfully combines dynamic fights, visual effects and the characteristic atmosphere of the comic book. The cast certainly tries to bring life to their roles. Jessica Alba & Chris Evans play their roles with charisma and energy, bringing a share of charm to the screen time. However, Ioan Gruffudd & Michael Charles Chiklis sometimes look constrained, which prevents them from fully revealing the potential of their characters. Special attention should be paid to the antagonist - Victor von Doom. Julian McMahon, who plays him, tries to give his character a sinister edge, but the script doesn't give him enough depth or development. Doctor Doom's character is underdeveloped and not entirely scary. Ultimately, 2005's Fantastic Four is a film that, despite its many flaws, has a right to exist for its entertainment value. The reaction turned out to be quite interesting and exciting. Thank you!🧡🦊🧡
I should point out that Michael Chiklis is actually one of the ones who put the most dedication into his performance. He even actually INSISTED on portraying the Thing via practical effects instead of CGI.
I believe Chris Evans is way mor fit to be Johnny Storm than Cap. I mean, he did a good job as the serious and stone-forged Steve Rogers, but can express himself so much better as the bad boy Human Torch.
A great movie and also its sequal. You should see the Christoper Reeve Superman movies at least 1 (which started the all modern superhero movies) and 2
Your reactions keep getting g better and better. Laura is more and more comfortable in front of the camera each time and you two just seem to have such fun together! Always impressed with what a great job you both do of fully immersing in a movie and being so open with your excitement and emotions. That as much as anything is what keeps me coming back again and again.
I'm really looking forward to the new FF movie next year. They were always my favorite team in the comics, because they had the most sci-fi situations and villains. As you noticed, their power team-ups are some of the best in all of comics, because, like most of Marvel's heroes, they aren't all-powerful, but really good at what they do. Reed as the tech wizard (which, like here, usually ends up creating more problems than he expects) has to study the problems, and come up with some fancy "gizmo" (Ben's favorite term for Reed's inventions), much like Tony Stark - which, in turn, is why Iron Man has always been my favorite solo hero from the comics. Victor Von Doom - aka Doctor Doom - is equal to Reed and Tony combined in technical genius, but lacks their moral compass.
One of my favorite Chris Evan movies before he became Captain America❤ actor that plays Ben Grimm known as the thing that a phenomenal job conveying beauty and the beast kind of acting style for his character when he became the thing❤ Ladies welcome to the club of 2005 fantastic four❤
I realize Magy and Laura won't read this because it's been more than a month since they posted this, but... I could see them as a pair of super heroes working for Captain America in a Marvel movie. That would be awesome 👍😎.
Please watch the second movie as well: Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. I also recommend Disney"s Dinosaur (2000), and Noah (2014). You'll enjoy all three. Trust me.
I'm glad people are watching these films now these were my 2nd favourite comic characters after Spiderman when I used to read The comics many years ago now, great reaction girls anyway.
I think this is an underrated superhero movie. Michael Chiklis playing The Thing is kinda like Dave Bautista playing Drax. Not the flashiest characters but they were perfect for the roles
At the dawn of the Marvel age of comics (1960s), F.F. was the original superhero team and first family of the Marvel universe. It would ultimately rival DC's Justice League of America in sales and also became a masterpiece for Lee & Kirby at Marvel Comics. Powers do indeed much their personas. Not just heroes or known of in the public eye, they handle family problems as if they're real people. The mix of fantasy and realism was what Stan wanted to make them more human. I grew up on most of the animated series and that's how I knew of them before reading the comics. The very-first F.F. movie (1994) was kinda hokey, but I thought it was a nice try. I don't think Stan Lee liked it after he saw and wanted it to be better in terms of quality. One of my favorite 2000s superhero movies. It caught the flavor of the concept as I knew it would be at the time. The theatrical version is good. The extended version is great. The similarities and differences between this and the comics are what they are. Michael Chiklis was a big fan of the comics and wanted the role of Ben Grimm/The Thing upon being newly adapted, no cgi as real as possible. Chris Evans as Johnny Storm/Human Torch was casted when the script didn't have much of dialogue for the character and he made it work with some on the spot ab-libs. Between the 1994 original and the attempted/hated 2015 reboot, until we see them in the MCU; the F4 movies of the 2000s are the best interpretation.
Good to see you enjoyed it. Hope you will then also see the second part. There is also a newer one with a different cast, but don't look that one, that was really bad. That was like triying to turn the Fantastic Four into Batman with making it all more grimm and dark. It was horrible. I have read the orginal comics back in the 70s when they first came out here in Germany (while the original were from the 60s already) and in the end the style of the movie comes quite close to that. The origin of Doom was different, but i think it was ok to change it here for the movie. People these days, who want to have everything now dark and brutal and PG18 rated totally forget that these comics were also made mostly for kids, and i hate it when the same people who reas the comics with maybe 12-15 now want that kids shouldn't be allowed to see the movies.
Victor hates Reed Richards so much because Reed is the go-to person when it comes to intellect in the marvel universe. And also dr doom has an immense ego so when they were attending college together i think they were roommates and when doom constructed a device to go to hell in order to rescue his mother, reed noticed that Victor made some mistakes in his calculations so as we all know the machine blew up in face disfigured him and and that’s why he got all the smoke for reed richards he can’t handle the fact that he was wrong and reed w
If you still don't know who the new actor is who will bring Doctor Doom to life, you should see the presentation at this year's Comic Con and believe me, both of you are going to scream and it will confuse you, see who will play him.
Personally, for me this is the best adaptation of the Fantastic Four in the cinema, 💙🤍🖤 The cast is incredible, it is one of the films of my childhood, I loved that Chris Evans played another of my favorite Superheroes, the Torch Human. (For me, The Human Torch is much better than Captain America, honestly hehe) Without a doubt, it is another Superhero classic 💙🫶🏻🥺 PS: We will enjoy the sequel! 😎🍿
The MCU is making a New FANTASTIC FOUR and Robert Downey Jr. will be Victor von Doom, Pedro Pascal - Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby - Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn - Johnny Storm & Ebon Moss-Bachrach - Ben Grimm
I love this movie & the 2nd one is even more fun imo. The Fantastic 4 is more scientists than superheroes but I love seeing em do the hero thing too like Reed is the smartest man next to Ironman
The early 2000s superhero movie vibes are strong with this one, just like the Spiderman trilogy, Daredevil etc. The humor is on point, with plenty of sarcastic lines, cocky attitudes leading to embarrasing moments. Action scenes are abundant and they're all done well. CGI parts aged well, all things considered. We got a decent bit of romance, seeing the tension/flirting between Reed and Sue, Ben losing his wife but finding his true love in Alicia and Johnny who...well, Johnny is Johnny, a true "hit it and quit it" kinda guy 😂 The soundtrack for this movie was a banger, which is usual for early 2000s superhero movies. The chemistry between the characters was on point - Sue always tries to mediate between Ben and Johnny, Reed does his best to lead the team even though he's not so confident in himself and Ben always has Reed's back, a true friend. Victor played the villain role perfectly, the actor gives off that menacing aura which suits the character so well. Thank you for the excellent reaction, commentary and discussion at the end, looked like you had so much fun with this one ❤

Really glad you ladies got around to discovering The Fantastic Four. Especially since Marvel has the rights back to the franchise and the upcoming reboot that's going to be under production soon. The cast has been announced so it shouldn't be long now.
I'll be surprised to wich movie you are reacting next maybe Casper from 1995 or Blade 2 or The Trilogy of Riddick [with Vin Diesel] (starting with Pitch Black)
7/10 A pretty good film As a reader of the comics, I was really excited to finally see a movie about my favourite characters. I've learned that a FF film was in "development hell" for some decades, so when it finally came out, obviously I rushed to the theater. And, I was not disappointed at all. Of course it's not as good as X-Men 2 or Spider-Man (the original, with Tobey Maguire), but it's good for what it aims to be: a sci-fi/action movie about comic book characters. You have to understand that the Fantastic Four are not as popular as other heroes, like Iron Man i.e., besides, their stories always covered the most strange, bizarre, far out things imaginable. And, because they are a family, there are many corny moments in the movie, but the comics too have those moments, then you just have to "let it go", to really enjoy the story. Overall, it's a very decent movie about very decent people.

Will you add the movie “Streets of Fire” 1984, to your movie sections. It is directed by Walter Hill. This is a rock & roll fable, action crime drama move. A mercenary is hired to rescue his ex-girlfriend, a singer who has been kidnapped. With hits songs singles, from the 1980's performed.
I still enjoy this movie. The Thing has always been my favorite. Not only is he a badass, but he gave up being normal and accepted what he became to help his friends

lol this movie isn’t nearly as good as MCU movies, it’s corny teen-bait at best, you’re probably looking at it nostalgically rather than objectively

They watched Blade, Fantastic Four, and Daredevil *before* they saw Deadpool & Wolverine, but are now releasing them after*
It was pretty amazing movie for its time. A great origin story and perfect introduction to F4. The only thing they got bad was Dr Doom
Feels so different from 2 years ago when only less than a handful reacted to this because of Multiverse of Madness
And to think RDJ was going play Doom before Iron Man
Ben Grimm is my favorite marvel character. In the comics, he got married with Alicia, adopted two alien kids and even had a puppy. He deserved it.
