    .... I do believe though if single wish to cancel BCS they are settling down they should get priority to book the next round. But if they dont apply after a year they be block for a year... Idk....how to make more babies.

    Locals are like this. Cheapo and low ses, still so choosy.HDB should impose a financial penalty, big enough to stop such nonsense, locals are like this, only when they lose substantial amount of $$ would deter or change their behavior!

      Well, when it was my Q# number back in 2011-2012, my Q# was within 300% of the actual units available, there was only 1 unit left within the Punggol Parc vista project when we were called. The unit was on the 2nd floor above a coffee shop. We had to reject it as we didn't want to be living with fumes in our home every day for the next 5 years or forever even if I will lose priority. This was already our 5th try. Thankful we did as on our 6th try we managed to have more choices, still wasn't the best but so much better.
      What would you do if you were forced to take 1 unit left and that unit could be facing a bin center or just under a coffee shop? Remember this place will be your forever home or a stepping stone to your next bigger hdb home but you need to sell it first. I don't think in this situation we are picky when we were only given 1 unit to choose from.

    1st common sense move by HDB. It takes a fool to implement this one. Given the priority to choose n yet they can afford to be so selective against the backlog of others needing a flat. This is start of a dumb minister getting wiser.

      @@angxiang3186 none. This is the last unit they have. We were shocked, it was take it or loose a chance. And just as many before us had also gave up the unit, we also gave up the unit.
      The problem was they gave queue numbers which will be 300% the original amount of units. So if there are 100 units of 4 rooms, they will give out 300 queue numbers. If you are number 279, these are the options left. This was during a period where demand was higher than supply back in 2011-2012.

      Well then, it’s life ~ you r amongst 278 others that rejected this unit.
      There is no perfect system; especially under your such predicaments. It is hard choices that one has to make.
      My personal perspective ~ the right choice is the one that you had made at that moment in time with your best interest at hand then.
      Life is never a pretty bed of roses. Cheers and wish you well ~ may all good fortunes bestowed upon you for a new start of 2023.

    There is a difference between nitpicking and holding them accountable this is NOT
    The paper looked at longer-term forecasts of the housing sector and was released in response to the Voluntary Early Redevelopment Scheme (VERS) which the Government rolled out to address the concerns of voters on the value of their HDB flats due to the declining lease.
    Mr Singh said, “The paper was about looking at longer-term dynamics in the housing sector, and a section of the paper did refer to the number of BTO flats that HDB should build. But that was in the context of a much larger and longer-term discussion about housing policy in Singapore. It was not a call to action, and it was not a proposal.”
    Mr. Leon Perera of the Workers Party also chimed into the exchange and said that the People’s Action Party (PAP) seems to be doubling down on this incorrect assertion, using its tremendous public relation and communicative machinery to repeat this assertion about WP.

    WP had to issue a statement and post letters on forums as the MPs from PAP, and its supporters have been repeating the claims made by Minister for National Development, Mr Desmond Lee that the WP’s housing paper called for a cut in BTO flats in 2019.
    Giving an explanation to the paragraphs cited by Mr Wong, Mr Perera said, “If you look at the sentence, what the sentence is saying is not that there is an imminent risk of vacancy. It’s not that there’s going to be vacancies in 2022. Do you think that there will be a risk of vacancies if you continue to build following this kind of pattern? So there’s no time frame attached to that.”
    During the exchange, Mr Perera said, “I would really question if the People’s Action Party has become a party that propagates falsehoods to gain political mileage. The first paragraph makes observations about the risk of vacancies in the context of a paper on longer-term housing dynamics, that resale prices will inevitably come under pressure at some point… But the call to action comes in the second paragraph, which says, BTO projects should continue.”

    Who is actually misleading who here this government
    If Singaporeans owned the freehold of their HDB then rising prices would at least allow them to enjoy real asset enhancement, rather than the fake one you have deceptively marketed to them over the decades. You and your father have falsely claimed in the past that Singaporeans should be grateful that the Government gave them an appreciating asset. Back in 2010 before the GE you said:
    To mislead Singaporeans that their leases would expire and that their flats would be worth nothing (long before expiry it would be difficult to near impossible to get a mortgage) is shocking coming from the leader of the Government and should definitely have a received a Protection from Online Manipulation and Falsehood (POFMA) notice from your Ministry which stands ready to issue one at your Government’s command to members of the public who dare to question the received history. In 2018 you backtracked and said that after the 99 year lease was up an HDB flat would be worth nothing after your chosen (at least for now) seatwarmer-in-waiting Lawrence Wong had admitted the same in Parliament. This caused some consternation suggesting that many Singaporeans had been misled as to the true nature of an HDB lease and may have overpaid though this may have been masked by continued price appreciation.

      Do you understand the word “freehold “ ? A regular HDB block has about 150 to 200 units. How do you expect every single unit to claim a piece of the land under that block?
