Took a different approach to this video but leaving some long shots in . Sometimes it’s tough to do simply because I’m editing around music and other things than need chopping up . In reality I’d live to do longer videos with lengthy takes and might continue to do so if the mood hits . What are your thoughts on longer videos versus shorter ones ?

Had the best night of drinking ever back in 1999 in that lounge upstairs at Ober Gatlinburg. They used to have bands playing on weekend nights up there. 7 of my friends and I..including my younger sister..were enjoying $1 drafts from noon... throughout the afternoon.. and into the night. Decided we were drunk enough to leave.. but then.. the band fired up. We closed the place down and caught the last tram back down the mountain. Tram driver told us we were lucky we caught that last tram. If we hadn't caught it.. it would have been a 45 minute walk down the mountain... or a 10 minute bear chase down the mountain.. depending on how our luck was that night. LOL
I absolutely love Gatlinburg. Been going there since I was a kid. We live in Somerset, KY on the banks of Lake Cumberland, so Gatlinburg is only a 2.5 hours away. It was always my dad's "go to" for a weekend away 3 or 4 times a year for our family because it was a lot cheaper than going to the beach. LOL
Some of the best times of my life have been in Gatlinburg with my parents back in the day.... and with my kids even today. We still make it a priority a couple times a year. Thank you guys for this awesome video. Appears as though you guys have been there as many times as I have. Take care and thanks for the awesome video.

I worked the Tramway 20 years ago. The building for the mall on the parkway used to be a hotel. Where the ticket booth is now is where the pool used to be. If you look you can see a large crack in the floor from it. You need to ride ot sometime when the wind is blowing. It can get WILD to say the least. If you go there @ or before 7am you can watch some of the daily inspection. There is a guy who rides on top of the wheel carriage to inspect the cables and make sure all the wheels spin.

Glad they're still there. My other favorites were the smokey mtn moonshine distillery tour, apple butter fritters, and our cabin in the mountains that had no electricity due to a storm one night. Haha thank you for this Adam. I miss TN!! ♡

I once did a alpine slide as a kid. I remember at the top we had to carry the heavy cars for quite a ways from the lift to get to the track. I went a little too slow on it and the guy behind me came close to ramming into me. My dad was on the other track and was so jostled around that his elbow managed to rub against the track a few times scraping it all up. He still has a scar there. Great memories, mostly slightly terrifying.

It looks like older style design because i think it was built in the late 70s. It looks like it did when i was a little kid back then. Had less stuff in the lower lobby back then. I remember way back and the main building at top i wandered around in and came out a staircase and out onto a landing that looked over a huge tall room that looked like a bavarian castle with big dining tables and wooden beams above.

Ober Gatlinburg was my first job. I always thought that this place was lacking so much. That could be because I had to be there every day lol. Anyway, love the videos! Nice to see you in my neck of the woods 😁

I’m from Maryville, TN, (not far from Cades Cove) and Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, are only about a beautiful 35 minute drive-through the mountains-away for me, so I try to visit both cities very often. The only problem with me visiting Ober Gatlinburg is that, I cannot get on the tramway, or any kind of lifts to go up there, because I hate heights. However.....the good thing that a lot of people don’t know-not unless they are local or familiar with the area-there is a road that you can drive up that will take you to Ober Gatlinburg. If there any people reading this that would like to visit Ober Gatlinburg, but are afraid of heights, all you have to do is ask one of the local businesses how to get to the Chalet Village, because the main road that the Chalet Village is on, takes you straight up to the top of the mountain to Ober Gatlinburg. It’s a curvy road, and kind of a narrow road, but it’s a beautiful drive, and it’s a great alternative to getting on the tram if you have an issue with heights. Just thought I’d put that out there in case anyone needed the information.
