Saved to my 4Runner list so I can swap the environmental control bulbs for lifetime LEDs. I love your clear and detailed How To videos. Someone should make drop-in replacement LEDs for those little bulbs, with a built-in bridge rectifier so the polarity always works.
My priority was to first brighten the HVAC display and the new LEDs did just that. A few tips. Take the copper out of the bulb housing: Bend the contact arm up then push down and pull out with pliers. I broke a couple of LED leads so I made a small cut in the plastic so I could push the lead through. Form lead to make contact arm. Also I had to scrape the oxidation off the copper where the new leads will make contact. Works great.

Hello. Very good your video. As you did with the display light or air indicator. I put them the same but it does not turn on, only when I connect and disconnect the rear connector, everything else turns on but when you turn on the display or screen of the a / c indicators it does not turn on the color of the led that you place, it remains as if it were burned out the light, when they are new and good.
Thanks you! If the LED doesn’t turn on, change the direction of electricity. LED’s are directional and require current to travel one way, not both ways like incandescent.
Hey, so yeah it’s a little off. But you gotta think how long they’ve been orange and that orange color baking into those switches for years. For the most part they’re white, with a tint of something else. Still looks 1000% better! Haha. Glad Toyota stopped with the orange.
In the daytime, the LCD info screen is very dim. Almost unreadable. I couldn’t tell from the video but do the new LED bulbs significantly brighten the display in daylight conditions? Thanks for the great video.
Hey I purchased the same lights off Amazon from ur kit for my 03 limited . It's weird though I swapped all of the bulbs. Only the screen on the hvac system used the white leds. All my other light on the hvac where still orange . And the other switches didn't turn white or are even on. I tried switching the polarities. But nothing.
You may have a few bad bulbs or when you routed the wires they aren’t making contact with the terminal giving it power/ground. Did you turn your headlights on when you tested the lights? The headlight switch must be on to test everything but the HVAC display. There isn’t much that can go wrong unless your units lights didn’t work to begin with, but if you’re still having issues please send me an email and I’ll try to help.
Good evening, so I just took out my ac control unit and replaced all the bulbs with the led bulbs. However when I hooked it back up none of them are white lights. Still the yellow. On top of that I took out two of the bulbs completely and plugged the unit back in and the yellow light was still coming on without any build in place. Any idea what’s going on?
That’s smart. Thank you! They were killing me because I would press it and nothing happened. I never tried it in 4x4 h or l, I guess it must be in that range. Thanks again.

hey man, im about to do this on my 4runner but im not entirely sure how to route the bulbs. any chance you could explain it to me really quickly or even make a short video on it?
No problem Mitch. So what you’ll do is unroute the leads out of the bulb holder. When you go to install the new bulb, put the new and old side by side and get the new length and cut off the excess. Take the new bulb and just follow the exact way the old bulb came out. If you need to, take out two of them and keep one for reference, that way you’ll have one to compare if you mess up. I promise it’s easier than most people think. You’ll just need a small flat head screw driver to start the lead to get it off. Hope this helps.
It’s either the way it’s angled, try adjusting it by taking it out, moving it up or down (whatever way it’s darker), putting it back in and trying it. The second way, it might just be how Toyota molded your buttons.
