I've been struggling to get a flight route to show for a while now. I've tried Downloading and replacing the dn file on the app like faqs suggests. I've tried multiple route with different planes. Others with similar issues mentioned having way points but no magenta line, I however have nothing at all. I really see what potential this app has, it's a pity I can't get it to work. Could anyone help me out with this?
Yes, by pressing the ALT knob it'll switch to reversionary mode. If a flight simulator is connected, it'll switch reversionary mode automatically when avionics switch is turned off.

Yes, you will need 2 iPads. MFD only connects to PFD. And PFD is the one connects to X-Plane.
