The suggestion to take your time with truck purchase is something some of us here hope you will seriously consider. Be safe out there. God bless you MMM
Everyone always has advice. You need to do what you think is best for you. This video had me sitting on the edge of my chair, not because of the road condition but what I couldn't see off the sides. Be safe.
I’ve been watching you in your new job and like it as much as the videos of your old job. Could you take some video of your rig sometime? I’m kinda curious about what it looks like…just 10 seconds would be good. Peace Mike.
Just my $,02 and I am not a trucker so my idea is worth just what it cost you.. I am a retired computer guy but I was raised around farming and trucks and tractors and all that kind of gear. If I were you I would gain experience until spring on the company gear. Then when roads improve in the spring get your own truck. Then you have all summer with good roads to build more experience with your own gear. That would be my plan, but I overthink everything. I do think getting your own truck is a great idea.
You seem very intent on jumping on this new adventure, but here is a view from the outside. Not being compensated for sitting should be a serious issue. They can schedule as many trucks as they want to sit for how long waiting for the oil, and it costs them nothing. That is a big advantage that they have no investment in you sitting waiting for a load. The truck payment is every thirty days, whether it sits still or is moving.
They do pay for sitting.. I have only say a couple of times.. they do everything they can to move us along.. the problem with the 4.5 hour wait was a mix up with dispatchers who messed up.. we still get paid for sitting unlike at OTR at Quality..
@ridingshotgun1251 Back in the mid 1980s, I had an expedite truck, one ton 12' box. Had to get there right now, snowy weather NE Ohio. Waited eight hours! Had to back in the building so at least the truck got to melt off a lot of ice and snow. Can't remember if I got anything for it. I'm always say that driving 12 hours to Myrtle Beach or 12 hours moving freight is a completely planet. Be safe, I enjoy the videos.

That's what's nice about hourly pay and 4 or 8hour minimums.
Honestly, being self-employed is not all it’s cracked up to be I was self-employed for 18 years and looking back. I didn’t really like it, but thank God, my mom was a part of it because she did all the paperwork and that’s one thing I detest doing is paperwork.
I’ve watched a lot of your videos, and always wander how your wipers clean the windshield so perfectly when it’s snowing. I always struggle with that although I have winter wipers.
Udot has an interest in Keeping this road open lots of good paying customers. You make it look soooooo easy. Pretty good for someone who got his CDL only last March. LOL
I'm not the professional semi driver, and opinions are like a holes everybody has one. You know how to drive on asphalt with no chains. When you hit the dirt roads in snow chaining up should be a no brainer.
If you're only going to work for five or six more years why would you want to buy a truck and dump a bunch of money in to it. Drive the company truck, save your money.
He could invest in it, let someone as skilled & a positive attitude drive it and make even more money. Sure miss trucking. Thx for sharing your experience videos and Safe travels Mountain Man Mike.
I admire Mike. He is willing to learn. I can tell. At Quality he was always showing us what he new. Now he is showing us what he is learning.

I started watching you several years ago on these snowy roads. I couldn't believe what you were capable of driving through in Vale.
You da man Mike!!!! I feel like I’ve seen 1/2 the USA with you!!!!

I'm glad you found a job more challenging than otr.
Enjoy yor ride alongs. Back here in New York even route numbers run east an west odds run north and south.

you must put the heater position towards windshield not you
I'd think about going into a lot of debt if the price of oil comes down.
If drivers used CB's like they used to you could find out what you're getting into. I'll never understand why they stopped using them.
Automatic snow chains or fabric snow shoes, work.
G/day how are you ..those road look very slippery..take care ..we don't get snow here ..have a great day
That mountain seems like a good place to lay down some pipe.
Hi mike hi buster 🚚
