- Which game engine should you use? Unity or Godot? Find out how getting punched in the face led to my decision to switch game engines.

I thought getting punched in the face was a metaphor. Man, was I wrong.
I remember when you told me about the bloody nose incident. I'm glad everything worked out in the end. Hope the Godot game engine is everything you're looking for 🔥
You may add autocomplete hints that pop up from text that you type (list items) with "Tab" hint to apply selected list item.
That's a good tip, thanks!
Long introduction :D Happy that you are fine
5:05 omfg i am in love with your game already. How can i become a tester? I love the scifi text adventure / MUD appeal.
Thank you! It might be awhile before I can get something published, but I'm thinking of releasing the "pieces" of my game on itch.io before doing an early access for the full game on Steam. Best I can tell you right now is just stay tuned for the devlogs!
then get ready for the uppercut now :DD
Welcome brother
That is great that you are trying both game engines and decide which one is beneficial and easier to use. I actually did get my nose fractured in a fight Muay Thai from a knee. I got use to bloody nose, but this time it was no normal nose bleed.
Oh jeez, must've been way worse than what I got!
Dude, big respect for doing combat sports:)
We got another one
Getting punched in the face both figuratively and literally
Hey, awesome work! Good luck with Godot and if you need anything hmu
Godot matches with the free spired, so good choice. What I find strange is that you have a story taking place in rooms but not use a Fountain screenplay format (a Markdown derivative). Fountain has scenes on locations where action and dialog takes place and there are characters and props. Among the tools that can format it as a movie script there is a plugin for Visual Studio Code. (VS Code is often used with Godot).
If you want your branching stories be interpreted as a playable game (for prototyping) there are twine, renpy, ink or other Interactive Fiction engines,. Most of them are book oriented stringing text together instead of scenes following each other. Scenes are made up of text, but just like your 2 pager the form does count when communicating.
As you're already writing a GDD you might as well create a screenplay to focus on the story.
By the way AAA studio's borrow other tools from film and theatre too like storyboard, prop list, location checklist or Dramatis Personae. Those are a bit much, but might come in handy when your distributing gamedev tasks.
Thanks for the advice! I'm actually a D&D player (not a GM yet) but I've been watching RUclips videos on worldbuilding and how to craft branching stories - your comment reminded me there are a bunch of GM tools that might be useful for gamedev!
protect urself at all timed
Yeah, my face will remember that!
I do Jui-Justsu! no advice on muay tay bc we dont use punches or kicks
Jiu Jitsu has a lot of depth to it, and I want to try it one day!
@@cosmicrenegade thank you
ayo pog
Im never fun off text only game's.
Instead of switch from unity, i more suggest u switch from steam bro, if you worry that much about money
There is an alternative to steam called itch.io that I've been looking into for publishing one-off playable prototypes that are pieces of my main game to get feedback from players as I build things out. However, I think Steam has such a huge share of the market for indie games and a well-built game delivery and payment system that I'll have to stick to it for releasing my main game.
@@cosmicrenegade You have to pay a fee to release a game on steam, free to play or not.
But you get it back if you manage to get 1000 copies sold. @@bexplosion
It was bet with gabe. @@bexplosion
Unity fee is so cheap, you are probably better off doing tax optimization.
Haven't thought about that... Is there a video or article related to that? That could be helpful for deciding the game engine I'd use for future games.
