Mate, I see that nobody was betting on Uma to win this. I'm glad that he won and 'how' he won. The guy worked his way super hard with his Juri and deserved every dollar. That money goes a very long way in either one of these guys' country. This was such a great event.
Dude it costs more to live in Taiwan/HK than it is to live in the US. Like a million dollar apartment in TW/HK is like 1 tiny bedroom and 1 tiny bathroom. Both country is a tiny island.
@@MrWhiterunGuard No that's not true. Although he will face double taxation from both the United States and Taiwan, with proper financial planning, this sum of money would be enough for him to live comfortably for the rest of his life. Juri is one of the most interesting avatars/characters I've seen. I'm kind of happy to see Uma take Juri there in a field of competitive Ken's and Luke's.
I’ve never seen professional e-sports hijacking the loser of a grand final for an interview. At least give some time for the man to process his loss ffs.
You boys were my daily night stream session, it was so fun watching you and commenting on these matchs while I was going to sleep ( Europe here ) Felt like I was at a sleepover with some friends, thanks for the streams boys!
That’s what I like about competition but particularly fighting games in general. You never know who’s going to come out on top. If we predicted every winner it would be boring.
Thanks for liking my comment I really appreciate it so much and like I said before uma wasn’t playing around this was a really good tournament and I enjoyed the matches here it was so close
here's a thing, UMA is not sponsored, an amateur player went to US with only 300usd in his pocket, eat only one meal a day and free water from the hotel and campaign, he deserve every dollars.
I laughed so hard when he appeared on Mio's stream when she was talking about his victory, he even send a red superchat. Also, I hope management can get things done and put that hoodie on sale again.
a true story, UMA only had $300 cash in his wallet when he stayed in U.S, No Apple Pay Google pay or Credit card, He only have one meal a day and He paid $100 Usd for a Bag for carry his trophy come back to Taiwan, what a special young guy.
I love how Jammerz was diminishing UMA so much in several different times during the entire tournament and had to watch him win in the Grand FInals right in front of him.
I wasn't trying to diminish UMA at all. My whole point was that how many people ACTUALLY had UMA to win the whole tournament? (let alone make it out of groups). At least I was honest and said I didn't expect him to make it as far as he did (not many people would openly admit until after he won the tournament). Hopefully my response clears things up a little bit.
300 USD in his pocket with no sponsor while stay at hotel eating hotel free food and water and still got 150 left and his won while showing he simping his oshi Ookami Mio Hoodie from hololive , Absolute Madlad , btw Ookami Mio respond to his Tweet after he won he tag Mio and she respond too Madlad deserved every attention from Hololive community.
I think 5th place prize is purposefully low maybe to stop people getting complacent when they get to top 5. They want people to try their best and not just settle for a bag
Easy group and a few lucky matches and he wins 1 mil. then he disappeared from the face of the earth and was never seen again. beautiful story. no respect
the guy coming from the loosers bracket (winning the loosers final) moves on to the grand final vs the winner of the winners bracket final, and in order to win the tournament, has got to beat his opponents in two consecutive sets ft 3 , that is in a first set he has to earn the right to proceed to the real final in a sense (hence the term resetting the bracket), then if he can win the first set, he can then play the final set that counts as the ultimate final games (ft 3)
Uma was very strong and solid.... BUT when you see his pool... His quarter final... The capcom cup begun at semi final winner... And in the winner and grand final, he fought against an opponent he regularly beats in his region... Just it was the week of Uma !
It's cool that so many people play fighting games nowadays. But to me it was more interesting when fewer people were at the top. Epic rivalries, storylines even. You knew everybody in the top 32 of a major. Oh well.
the greatest shit about this is he doesnt have sponsor, 100% money for him. Insane.

Lowkey feel like Uma really wanted that grand finals reset
Uma only brings 300 bucks to the state
And 3 days after, he still had 150 left
One day a meal and take free water and cokes help him survive
I mean outside of a controller breaking or something $300 is fine for food for 3 days.
Uma was CW training partner. CW was about to cry when he said this as they interviewed him immediately after the loss.
I’ve never seen professional e-sports hijacking the loser of a grand final for an interview. At least give some time for the man to process his loss ffs.
Ya that was pretty messed up to interview the loser immediately after before even talking to the winner
CW is not a full-time professional player. He has a day job and only can train after work. I admire him and believe he deserves to be a champion.
UMA got the BIG GOD Miion's buff on his side.
